Anju Bobby George became the first Indian to win a medal in athletics at a world event when she won a bronze medal in the long jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris at age 25. Prakash Padukone had success in the 1970s and 1980s, becoming India's first Grandmaster in chess and the world's youngest at age 15. He received several national honors including the Arjuna and Padma Shri awards. 19 year old Pankaj Advani became only the second Indian to win the World Snooker Championship in October 2007.
