Designing Strategy and Structure
Quick Workshop Guide
Module 1: Getting Started provides an overview of the design process and
how to effectively involve people from the organisation in that process. We will answer:
What is organisational design?
What are the characteristics of dynamic, reconfigurable organisations?
How do we know when to redesign?
What are the steps in the design process?
When and how should we involve others?
Module 2: Determining the Design Framework will help us identify
the desired future state, assess the current organisational structure, and determine
priorities for change. We will answer:
How does the organisational strategy differentiate us in the marketplace?
What specific organisational capabilities do we need to deliver on the strategy?
How big is the gap from where we are today to where we want to be?
Module 3: Designing the Structure provides us a guide to choosing
structures and defining new organisational roles. We will answer:
What are our options for organising work and people to best meet our strategic
design criteria?
How do we define the critical organisational and individual roles and clarify the
interface among them?
How should we structure participation for generating alternatives
What can we do to keep the design momentum going?
