1. A Republic, If We Can Keep It – Benjamin Franklin
The government set up by James Madison and the other Founders requires a virtuous public and
virtuous leaders—or the whole system will fail. [1]
Those of us who are inspired by the grand old ideal United States of America, know all too well, there is
no democracy without rule of law and there is no rule of law without accountability.
Constitution grants privileges and demands obligations to the oath of office until the last minute. Just as
they are entitled to the last minute and they must also be held responsible for any transgression. Then,
there are those who have suddenly found religion in fiscal responsibility and even unity, after making
every effort to short-change 80 million and attempted to repeal the semblance of healthcare 60 or more
times and those who deny a consideration not confirmation to Merrick Garland, who found it
appropriate to confirm a Supreme Court appointment a month before the people voted, who directly or
indirectly egged on mobs to attack the world symbol of democracy. This strain of people who incited
the Capital Riots on 01/06/2021 have no decency – they have defiled everything we hold dear – for a
very long time. They have attacked and destroyed the very fabric of society, truth and decency, over a
40 year period, using hyperbole and false equivalency. Both Democrats and Republicans are Americans
first. This fact is lost on these forces.
Republic, if we can keep it, attributed to Benjamin Franklin, we almost lost it. The family that stood and
watched it from the comfort of the peoples house and the cadre of enablers must be brought to justice.
We must defeat this lynch mob and the demon in ourselves and resurrect the spirit of Abraham Lincoln.
Please acknowledge in public the contribution from Lincoln Project, Col. Vindman, Security Chief
Christopher Krebs, George Will, David Shephard Smith and David Frum, Georgia Secretary of State
Brad Raffensperger and the Implementation officer Mr. Gabriel Sterling, The Michigan Board of State
Canvassers, Aaron Van Langevelde, one of the two Republican members of the board, Senators
Romney, Murkowsky, Toomey and Flake, Governors Kasich, Kemp, US Representatives David Jolly,
Charlie Dent, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Justin Amash, post Barr Justice Department, Chief
Justice Roberts and the Judiciary in several states. Mike Bloomberg, of course. They had a lot to lose
but they did not care. They cared for the USA more than they cared about their own welfare. And U.S.
Capital Police Officer Brian Sicknick who died protecting and upholding the U.S. Constitution and
Eugene Goodman.
These are the people that defended, protected and succeeded in keeping the dreams of our beloved
founding fathers and the experiment, our Republic, alive and kicking.
Please let us recognize these individuals who have paid a high price for defending democracy against
their own personal interest. We came very close and without any one of them, we would have lost,
something very precious. We would have failed to pass along what we received.
