October 28, 2012, I started to put up a photo album in my Facebook
profile that contained all delightful feedback to me as a person,
husband, father, brother, family man, citizen, physician, physician-
surgeon, physician-educator, physician-administrator, physician-
researcher, etc.

My mom had a telemedical
consultation yesterday. It was
very informative and helpful. He
clearly explained everything and
utilized visual aids for better
understanding. We highly
appreciate that he suggested

the pros and cons. It was
definitely a great way to have a
consultation in quarantine period
without risking going to the
hospital.

The consultation becomes a learning experience for
me and my sister (who is with me during the entire
time). It gives me a clear view of my medical
condition as well as my options as to how to address
such condition. It might be less than a physical
consultation because of the lack of physical contact
but more in terms of patient empowerment (patient
being self sufficient in self examination).

PA – Whenever my schedule for a teleconsultation comes up
I somehow feel relieved whenever it is over. The reason for
this is that Dr Rey has a manner that somehow relaxes you
and reassures you, that even if you are going through
difficulties, such as an illness, you are in good hands. He
explains the condition you have in a way that you would be
able to understand. He gives you options and explains them

Definition of compassion:
Wikipedia - defines compassion as “the
emotion that one feels in response to
the suffering of others that motivates a
desire to help.” The Latin derivation of
compassion is “co-suffering.” Empathy
is the ability to see and understand
another’s suffering. So compassion is
more than just empathy or “co-
suffering”; with compassion comes
yearning and a motivation to alleviate
suffering in others.
Notice the three distinct “parts” of the
definition: “the emotion that one feels”… “in
response to the suffering of others”…“that
motivates a desire to help.”
