MR FINDINGS : Well defined mass in the Paralabial region on the left side with hypointense outline & 5 cysts of the variable size in it’s core.The cyst containing lesion is anatomically situated in the region of inguinal canal .The uterus is more inclined to the left side sequaele to stretch from the herniating left sided tuboovarian region. 6. OVARIAN HERNIA Brief Rare. 95% is appreciated into the inguinal canal. Common in premature infants. Associated mullerin duct anomalies to be looked for. Look for features of torsion , strangulation, ectopic pregnancy.

7. ECTOPIC OVARY VERSUS TRUE INGUINAL OVARIAN HERNIA. OVARIAN ECTOPIC TRUE INGUINAL OVARIAN HERNIA Tube always accompany the ovary. Look for Long ligament of ovary. Look for Open canal of nuck. Associated with gential , renal malformations Look for Long ligament of ovary. Tube may not accompany the ovary. Look for Open canal of nuck. Associated with gential , renal malformations. Increased abdominal pressure episodes. Attached intestinal loop, mesentery may be present

8. TWO IMPORTANT TERMS GUBERNACULUM Ligament with mid portion attached to the cornual end of the uterus. Superior to this it extends as ligament of ovary and caudal to this it contuinues as round ligament and extends into the into the inguinal canal terminating at labia majora.. PROCESSUS VAGINALIS Evagination of the parietal peritoneum. Descents with the round ligament. Closure at around 8 months Patency in premature infants.

9. LESSSON LEARNT Perinatal history is important. –Pathology is more common in the premature infants. Inclination of the uterus should be appreciated – Usually towards side of the hernia. Rule out associated mulleriandysgenesis Associated features of the strangulation , torsion should be lloked for. Appreciate fascial defects and associated ligaments which are either long or herniated along with the ovaries.
