1. Raised bed gardening has many advantages, especially when gardening in an urban setting. They
allow for better quality soil, more plants per square foot, and less weeding due to a denser canopy
(especially if the soil added to beds is weed free). Working of the soil and garden maintenance are less
strenuous due to the added height of the beds, but usually have to be done by hand. Beds are most often
made of untreated lumber, cinder blocks, or plastic. This type of garden can be ideal for areas were
children or the elderly want to help with upkeep, as the beds are more accessible. Another added

Andrew Marvell's "The Garden" is a poem that through logical progression argues its already
established point of view. It is a poem of meditation in a particular place, where the place presented
influences the course of this meditative state. Even though filled with the imagery of nature the poem
takes a rather pessimistic point of view, where it argues that total isolation from society and harmony
with nature as the singular best way of living. Thus, the whole of the poem centers on the idea of
wholesome nature in a world without the instruction of mankind. In the first three stanzas, the virtues

In effect, in the second stanza, the speaker speaks to the harmony he has found in the garden as he
compares the world of men and that of nature: "Fair Quiet, have I found thee here, / And Innocence,
thy sister dear?" (9–10). However, as he does so the speaker seem to fully inhabit neither of these
worlds, and his praise of the garden is lessened by doubt–in the very stanza that should establish the
garden's virtues, the speaker cant even be certain that those virtues exist: "Your sacred plant, if here
below, / Only among the plants will grown" (13–14). The words 'if' and 'will' signify that such was not
yet achieved. However, the last two lines of the come back to the central idea of the negation of
humanity: "Society is all but rude/ To this delicious solitude" (15–16) implying that the society is
harmful to this perfect harmony of the garden. The argument of the poem in the third and fourth
stanzas still remains that of humanity against nature, however this time with an emphasis on sexual
passions. Here, the pleasures of human erotic pursuit are found decidedly wanting when compared to
the pleasures of the garden. The pleasures compared are of a kind: "No white nor red was ever seen /
So amorous as this lovely green" (17–18). The colors of white and red are emblematic of female beauty

The Garden Of Eden
For my art piece, I decided to do a 'paradox box', as I'm very fascinated by the flaws regarding the
'garden of Eden' section of the bible. Over analysis of the story I have come across several points that
made me question the logic to the bible. I've recognized a particular problem that can be recognized as
a paradox.
In the garden of Eden, god commands Adam and Eve not to eat the forbidden fruit of the tree (keeping
in mind it is a sin to disobey god) and before man ate the fruit there was no sin. But if Adam and Eve
deliberately chose to eat the fruit independently, then that would be disobeying god, therefore a sin
committed before the creation of sin? So technically speaking, when Eve and Adam bit into the fruit

The only way god seems sincere about the rules regarding the fruit is if Adam and Eve could not sin
prior to eating the fruit. Thus the paradox reveals.
This is why I created a paradox box, and despite the play on words, holds serious information
regarding my argument, mainly extracts from the bible's text.
Another flaw I found whilst revising myself of the story is the fact that god is quoted as fair, but in my
opinion, this seems far from realistic. God created humans in his perfect image, and if god is all–
powerful, he has the ability to create anything he likes and has no limits. But then, why did humans go
against god? You could argue that's because of free will, but surely if god created everything he created
free will, also? And if he was all knowing, he would have known as soon as he created humans that
they would break his commands? Which then asks why he continued to allow this to happen.
Additionally, the whole of humanity's fate depended on the outcome of the occurrences in Eden, which
has ultimately condemned humanity to an infinite lifetime of punishment, along with original sin. Is it
fair to punish every human being to follow, because of the one rule broken by two individuals? Eden is
depicted as this idyllic haven where there is no pain or sin, but humanity has been excluded from this
place, therefore being exposed to the harsh cruel reality we live in currently, with suffering and pain,
and the fact that these actions exist alone show that we are being punished because there can be no
'haven' without destruction and suffering. So god has condemned humanity to a never–ending life of
sin and suffering, because of the mistake made by two individuals, who are not 'us', as it is taught we
are created individually and uniquely. This, in my opinion, is not a fair god, and has some flawed
