2. Programmatic Goals: Overall Goal
My goal as a Life Skills instructor is to collaborate
with families, professionals and members in the
community to help students acquire the knowledge,
skills, and attitudes necessary to be successful
individuals and life long learners.
3. Programmatic Goals
I will collaborate with families and support staff to
create a safe learning environment where students
will receive instruction in functional reading,
mathematics and writing in conjunction with
functional daily living skills and social skills.
I will collaborate with families, support staff and
students to create and implement community based
learning experiences that relate to the students’
transitional goals and/or functional needs.
4. Personal Goals
Identify ways to assume leadership roles in the
school, the school district and the community.
Collaborate with community members to identify
ways the Life Skills students can be involved in the
community.
Integrate at least one new technology strategy into a
lesson plan each month and monitor its effectiveness
on student progress and student engagement.
5. Indicators of Progress
Weekly Progress Monitoring on Goals and Objectives
Weekly Collaboration with Paraprofessionals
Consistent Communication with Families
6. Plan for Support-Staff Management
Design specific lesson plans that clearly articulate
what the support staff need to be doing and when.
Weekly collaborative meetings with the support staff
to discuss celebrations and needs.

EQ: How do we keep the classroom clean? (Aleena and Ariel- how does this apply to
the Solanco Student Expectations?)
LEQ: Why and how do we need to take out the trash, get the mail, and water the
plant?
A: Review the two chores I introduced yesterday: wiping desks and dusting. Praise the
students who helped complete these chores yesterday afternoon.
T: Present the chore chart along with the new chores. Show students pictures of
examples of a full trash can, wilting plant and full mail box. Ask students what is wrong
with the pictures and how they think they can fix the problem. Next, I will model how
to complete the three chores as well as reviewing the rules (must be accompanied by
an adult when getting the mail and watering the plant).
S: Students will select one of the three chores to practice and then I will select which
students will complete the 5 chores in the afternoon.
8. Plan for Linking CBEP with Instructional Goals
Scaffolding Support
Provide explicit instruction on how students’
academic goals can be utilized in the community.
Once the skills have been introduced, demonstrated
and practiced within the classroom, provide
opportunities to practice the learned skills in the
community.
9. Plan for Linking CBEP with Instructional Goals
Collaboration
Collaborate with families to determine which functional
goals are in need of reinforcement.
Collaborate with families to develop meaningful
transitional goals which are aligned to student interests
and strengths.
Collaborate with members in the community to explore
ways students can be involved in the community.
10. Thank You!
My five years of diverse experience have prepared me
to become a versatile and mature educator. I assure
you that I will be an asset if given the opportunity to
continue to develop my skills as an educator and life-
long learner within the Iroquois School District.
