To enter a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session as a moderator: 1. Access the session from the Other Tools menu in your D2L course. 2. Click on the session name to enter. 3. Allow Collaborate Ultra to use your microphone and camera if prompted.

Entering a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Session as a Moderator
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is a newer version of Blackboard Collaborate. One big difference between the
two is that the older version is Java-based, which can cause usability issues. Ultra is browser-based and
Google Chrome is the recommended browser. You may be able to enter an Ultra session with a different
browser, but using Google Chrome will ensure that you have the fullest functionality within the interface.
To get started, you will need to have a session set up. If you do not know how to set up a session, you may
refer to the tip sheet, “Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Session Setup” for information.
When you have session set up, go to your Learn@UW-Stout (D2L) course. Once inside,
go to the Other Tools menu and choose Collaborate: Ultra.
This should open the page listing all of your sessions. Click on the session name to enter that session.
You may get a message about setting up your microphone and camera. If you get this message, you should
click on the Yes button to set up your camera and microphone. If you miss this message or it does not appear,
you can still set up your microphone and camera.
You may also get messages about sharing or giving access to your camera and microphone. In order to
use your camera and microphone in a session, you must allow Collaborate Ultra to use your camera and
microphone.

If you are the first person to enter the session, you will see a message that you are the only one in the room.
