The Creation of the World Essay
The Creation of the World
The creation of the earth and all that is within the earth is mysterious, yet miraculous at the same
time. Although there are probably hundreds of different accounts, they all seem to be different while
almost identical in text. I will be comparing and contrasting between the Priestly account and the
Yahwist account in the book of Genesis. Along with these accounts I will be discussing the key
elements in the theology of creation and eco–spirituality in the world and the way they fit into my
life. These two versions of creation can be distinguished in various ways. The two stories differed in
how they were told, how humans were created, a human's purpose in life, and the image and role that
God played....show more content...
These two accounts are very different when it comes to the creation of life and the role that God
played; however, they compare when it comes to the purpose of a human beings life. These two
accounts are considered very different but they are similar in the following manner. Any human
being is considered a Homo sapien, meaning that we are the "intellectual beings of earth." In each
account humans were created in the sense that they would bring goodness onto the earth. When
God created humans, he saw them as an intelligent creature that would tend the fields and take
care of all that he created. For that is why the Garden of Eden was fashioned into a place of utopia
where everything was in harmony. It was in this place where Adam, meaning made from earth and
Eve, meaning mother of all living persons were told to care for and maintain. Yet they committed
original sin by eating fruit from a forbidden tree, just like people commit sin everyday. Regarding the
Old Testament and New Testament there were some differences and similarities. In the Old
Testament the Jewish people did not perceive God as creator, instead they saw his as a savior.
They viewed creation as God giving us salvation, which can be seen in the one hundred and fifty
psalms. Unlike the Old Testament, the Jewish people in the New Testament believed that Christ was
indeed the Lord of creation, and he was the one who made it possible for us to

Billy Elliot Transitions
The process of transitions has the power to allow individual to seek new pathways in order to allow
new opportunities to arise, challenging perspectives and stereotypes, while ultimately growing as an
individual. However, it is only through overcoming challenges, that a transition empowers the
individual to overcome hardships, gaining a deeper understanding of self, while developing strength
and integrity. The film Billy Elliot positions the audience to perceive hardships that individuals must
overcome in order to successfully achieve their ultimate transition, challenging gender stereotypes
and societal "norms". Tracey Chapmans song Fast Car, outlines obstacles that the persona and the
audience relates to, however it is through the melody...show more content...
Only when the Elliot's experience new perspectives and develop a sense of self, will Billy and
Jacky gain an appreciation of new values, whilst gaining a deeper understanding of self, developing
strength and integrity. Within the first scene, it foreshadows Billy's inner feelings towards dancing,
and the ultimate joy that it brings to him. Through the wide shot, of Billy jumping with his full
body against a wall, reflects how dancing is of great importance and an element in his life that he
truly cherishes. "I was dancing since I was twelve" emphasising the ultimate transition that Billy is
going through, challenging his family values and ultimately societies stereotypical images. The
claustrophobic and cramped styled housing portrays a working and lower class society that Billy
has come accustomed to. The vulgar language that is used to communicate with one another, and
violence proves to be a male dominated society, and by dancing, which is something "girls do. Not
lads", identifies that this aspect of a male dancer is unheard of within the working–class society,
"you're a disgrace to them gloves, your father and the traditions to this boxing hall". Running his
hands against a brick wall and being enclosed in a tiny

Essay On Into The Wild
Into The Wild In a society filled with contaminated brains of hierarchy, social media, and a "rich"
state of mind, individuals are bound to lose sight of the genuine purpose of life. People for centuries
have been pondering over the concept of "the purpose of life", but the genuine answer lies within
ourselves. Each individual has their own purposes that are intended to be fulfilled during their
lifespan. In the novel, Into The Wild, written by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless searches for his
substance and purpose by abandoning his affluent life and heads into the austere lifestyle the frigid
forests have to offer .
Branching from a home filled with strict parental guidance, expectations, and money; McCandless
had given off the impression he was content with his beginning life. In the late springtime of 1990,
McCandless earned his degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with a girlfriend, financial
support from his parents, and support. The...show more content...
As he approaches death, McCandless was satisfied with the experiences he had gained and the
knowledge he had earned. It is not arguable that he had achieved his goal of living a non
materialistic life and seeing the world for what it is and what it has to offer. Frankly, it was quite
miraculous the extended amount of time McCandless had lived in the extreme conditions. On
July 30 1992, McCandless makes an ominous entry in his travel journal stating that whoever
comes across this note, please find him help as he is starving to death and his body is in an
incredibly weak state. He had passed away later that month, his body was spotted by locals in the
wrecked bus he had been camping out in for several weeks. For years, Krakauer was determined to
find what had killed McCandless. Although it is not certain, it is suspected that McCandless had

Billy Elliot Into the World Essay
Billy Elliot Into the World
There are a variety of pathways and elements, which enables individual transition into a New World.
'Into the World' is about people choosing the next pathway into their life by their own determination,
experiences and support which enables them to go beyond their original location and narrow view of
the world. 'Billy Elliot' relates to the elective 'Into the World' as the film is about new possibilities
opening up, determination, family support and individual growth. Two related texts that show other
kinds of transitions into new worlds include an article on the Queensland School of Excellence
titled 'Pas de deux' from the 'Australian Educator' on the 03/05/04 and a documentary by a Youth
Program called...show more content...
The use of doors is a reoccuring symbol representing new worlds or barriers between worlds and
used throughout the film. Billy's initial glimpse of the ballet class through the door, and the way he
enters the class hesitantly symbolises a new world opening up to Billy. Billy's determination is
one the key elements involved in his eventual transition into a different world. Realising that his
father would not allow him to pursue ballet, he attends lessons in secret and practices extensively
in his bedroom, the bathroom and wherever else he can have some privacy. The door motif is
again prominent with Billy's father physically holding Billy back from pursing his pathway into a
new world. Many of the doors are shut and he must fight to break these barriers down. For Billy,
dance becomes a means of escape from his surroundings, a refuge, a form of self–expression and,
ultimately, a way out of his closed community and into the larger world. The limited use of colour
reminds us that the family world is collapsing just as new horizons are opening up for Billy. Billy
is determined to go against the rules and traditions of his family and forge his way into a new world.
Determination is also used through persuasive and emotional language in the article 'Pas de deux'.
The Queensland Dance School of Excellence is an education program offered in partnership with
Ballet. It provides the opportunities for talented dance students to continue their dance training in the

Into the Wild
Sometimes a character may be pushed over the edge by our materialistic society to discover
his/her true roots, which can only be found by going back to nature where monetary status was not
important. Chris McCandless leaves all his possessions and begins a trek across the Western United
States, which eventually brings him to the place of his demise–Alaska. Jon Krakauer makes you feel
like you are with Chris on his journey and uses exerts from various authors such as Thoreau, London,
and Tolstoy, as well as flashbacks and narrativepace and even is able to parallel the adventures of
Chris to his own life as a young man in his novel Into the Wild. Krakauer educates himself of
McCandless' story by talking to the people...show more content...
Other exerts were just chosen by Krakauer to help give the reader a sense of what other naturalists
were thinking when they left civilization (Thoreau for example). The last postcard ever received
by Chris was addressed to one of his friends that he met along his trip. Wayne Westerberg was the
one who was delivered the postcard that included the line "if this adventure proves fatal and
you don't ever hear from me again I want you to know you're a great man. I now walk into the
wild." Chris almost knew that he would not make it out of the wild alive. Chris was seeking
adventure. His trip to Alaska was the "drug" that made him high. "I wanted
movement and not a calm course of existence. I wanted excitement and danger and the chance to
sacrifice myself for my love. I felt in myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in
our quiet life."–Leo Tolstoy–highlighted in one of the books found with McCandless's remains.
Krakauer wastes no time getting into the story and tells the reader from the beginning that
McCandless eventually reaches the end of his journey of life in Alaska but he still leaves out enough
to make the story interesting and he introduces the information that fills the gaps of the story through
flashback.
The reader knows that there is not going to be a happy ending in Into the Wild. It is no secret
that McCandless does not survive but the reader still wants to continue reading to get into the mind of

Life In The New World Essay
Life In The New World If we go way back to a world–wide crucial time period, the life of Native
Americans in today's continental United States, what we encounter is a vast land consisting of
various tribes with distinctive cultures, lifestyles and religious beliefs with obviously one thing in
common, savagery. As the Europeans started to settle, the Colonial period began, different
civilizations clashed with each other which changed the society, economics, and politics for several
reasons, affecting the lives of European–Americans, African–Americans, and Native–Americans,
creating conflicts and among them. Before the European colonies arrived, a vast part of America
was inhabited by the Native Americans. They were savages, living...show more content...
As the European settlers and explorlers arrived to America, the Natives were displaced from their
land, they were enslaved by the European colonies, and this conquest became easier due to
several diseases and huge population loss. The people in Europe were excited and curious about
the New World, they had hopes about their future and they thought that the hardships they had
back home would dissappear as new opportunities would emerge. The Puritans, one of the
communities in England, set sail from England to the New World and immigrated to
Massachusetts in hope that this new found land will bring them new opportunuties and their
religious colony will grow. They weren't curious about getting rich, what they really wanted to
achieve was to become a model community that all the world would look forward to. Religion
was very significant to them, they wanted to be known as pure Christians. In the document "We
shall be as a City upon a Hill", we see the relationship between god and community as they
believed in a religious contract called Covenant. "Now if the Lord shall please to hear us, and
bring us in peace to the place we desire,..." As we read these lines, we understand this relationship
between them better. They believed that if they manage to make it through the ocean to the New
World, God would have completed his part of the contract. The title itself makes it clear how
America was a place that

Into the Wild Analysis Essay
Christopher Johnson McCandless walked alone into the Alaskan wilderness with very little
equipment and food after traveling to various parts of North America during the course of two
years. Regardless of living on his own with not many things for a couple of years, Chris died alone
in a bus on the Stampede Trail in Alaska. Author Jon Krakauer wrote a 9,000 word article titled
"Death of an Innocent" for the 1993 issue of the magazine Outside. Into the Wild is simply an
extension of that article which explains what provoked Chris into living such a life, who he was,
and how he died. The author proves to the reader that Chris was an intelligent man by explaining his
research about edible plants and his ambition which builds up Chris's...show more content...
This shows that Wayne Westerberg "was both shorthanded and very busy so [Westerberg] asked
McCandless to postpone his departure [but] McCandless wouldn't even consider it." Westerberg
even offers to buy Chris a plane ticket so that Chris would be able to still make it to Alaska by the
time he wanted to and still work an extra ten days. Although Chris refuses saying that it would be
cheating by flying, it becomes evident that he gets extremely impatient when even the slightest thing
delays him even though Chris does not have a set deadline. Chris is very intelligent and
well–educated, and his passion for his Alaska trip helps prove to other people that he is just not
doing it on a whim. The author creates Chris's credibility when Chris keeps his promise of
keeping in touch with the people he meets and having the impeccable ability to never quitting
once he starts something. Jan Burres and her husband, Bob, liked Chris very much and "when
[Chris] left, [Jan and Bob] never expected to hear from him again, but [Chris] made a point of
staying in touch." Over the course of two years, Chris sends Jan and Bob a postcard every month
or two. Without getting too attached, Chris is able to keep his promise of keeping in touch which
proves that he is reliable. Westerberg claims that Chris "was the hardest worker [Westerberg had]
ever seen" for he would do even the dirtiest of jobs

Into the Wild Essay
In April of 1992 a young man named Chris McCandless, from a prosperous and loving family,
hitchhiked across the country to Alaska. He gave $25,000 of his savings to charity, left his car and
nearly all of his possessions. He burned all the cash he had in his wallet, and created a new life.
Four months later, his body was found in an abandoned bus. Jon Krakauer constructed a journalistic
account of McCandless's story. Bordering on obsession, Krakauer looks for the clues to the mystery
that is Chris McCandless. What he finds is the intense pull of the wilderness on our imagination, the
appeal of high–risk activities to young men. When McCandless's mistakes turn out to be fatal he is
dismissed for his naivetГ©. He was said by some to have a...show more content...
So in this way Jon and Chris were alike even though their goals were different.
Another way the two were similar was the fact that they both had family problems. Though his
parents and sister loved him Chris secretly despised his parents for covering up the fact that his
father had been raising two separate families. Just like Chris's father Lewis Krakauer had already
begun to prepare him for a career that he didn't want to be any part of. I think both sons were
consumed by a sort of blind rage when they found out that their fathers were less than perfect. This
anger fueled them to rebel and go against their fathers wishes to make their own futures.
The biggest (and most obvious) difference between Jon and Chris is that one died living out his
dream and the other lived to walk away from it. Most people would say that Chris failed because
his goal was to survive in the wilderness. Others would say that Jon succeeded because he made it
too the top and lived to tell his tale. However were the incidents really that different? Chris lived
in the Alaskan wilderness almost a hundred days before his fateful mistake that cost him his life.
Jon also had a few fateful mistakes that could have cost him his life but didn't, like the time he
caught his tent on fire or when his supply plane couldn't come because of bad weather. Most people
wouldn't even dream of doing either of these feats. When the risks are as high as either of these men

Billy Elliot Analysis
The film Billy Elliot, by Stephen Daldry, gives a point of view of what this young boy goes
through when he is family does not accept his new–found love for ballet. One day at boxing practice,
Billy sees the ballet practice going on and decides to join in. Little did he know he would enjoy it
as much as he did. Although Billy enjoyed it so much, it was not easily accepted by his family and
they made that show clearly understood. Throughout the film this is the storyline that is really
defining the separation between sex and gender. I believe the author, Stephen Daldry, uses the
separation between sex and gender to show what the gender norms are and how they are looked
down upon in some places if not followed correctly.
After Billy's first...show more content...
Later on, in the movie, Billy finds out that one of his close friends, Michael, is gay. Although he is
not gay, he supports his friend. Michael is also a cross–dresser and enjoys wearing tutus. Later,
Michael becomes attracted to Billy but Billy responds with "Sorry I am not gay". Michael is so
young and already understands he is more into boys than girls, Billy becomes very interested in
how a boy so young can already know that. Thinking about the fact that Michael and Billy are the
same age and assuming that Michael is not forming to the basic boy actions of society it is very
impressive that these boys do not care about what others think about them. Such as the scene where
Billy shows up at Michael's house and Michael is wearing dress. Billy wasn't so sure about it at

In the novel, Into The Wild, written by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless searches for his substance and purpose by abandoning his affluent life and heads into the austere lifestyle the frigid forests have to offer . Branching from a home filled with strict parental guidance, expectations, and money; McCandless had given off the impression he was content with his beginning life. In the late springtime of 1990, McCandless earned his degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with a girlfriend, financial support from his parents, and support. The...show more content... As he approaches death, McCandless was satisfied with the experiences he had gained and the knowledge he had earned. It is not arguable that he had achieved his goal of living a non materialistic life and seeing the world for what it is and what it has to offer. Frankly, it was quite miraculous the extended amount of time McCandless had lived in the extreme conditions. On July 30 1992, McCandless makes an ominous entry in his travel journal stating that whoever comes across this note, please find him help as he is starving to death and his body is in an incredibly weak state. He had passed away later that month, his body was spotted by locals in the wrecked bus he had been camping out in for several weeks. For years, Krakauer was determined to find what had killed McCandless. Although it is not certain, it is suspected that McCandless had consumes legumes with Get more content on HelpWriting.net

'Into the World' is about people choosing the next pathway into their life by their own determination, experiences and support which enables them to go beyond their original location and narrow view of the world. 'Billy Elliot' relates to the elective 'Into the World' as the film is about new possibilities opening up, determination, family support and individual growth. The use of doors is a reoccuring symbol representing new worlds or barriers between worlds and used throughout the film. Billy's initial glimpse of the ballet class through the door, and the way he enters the class hesitantly symbolises a new world opening up to Billy. Billy's determination is one the key elements involved in his eventual transition into a different world. Realising that his father would not allow him to pursue ballet, he attends lessons in secret and practices extensively in his bedroom, the bathroom and wherever else he can have some privacy. The door motif is again prominent with Billy's father physically holding Billy back from pursing his pathway into a new world. Many of the doors are shut and he must fight to break these barriers down. For Billy, dance becomes a means of escape from his surroundings, a refuge, a form of self–expression and, ultimately, a way out of his closed community and into the larger world. The limited use of colour reminds us that the family world is collapsing just as new horizons are opening up for Billy. Billy is determined to go against the rules and traditions of his family and forge his way into a new world. Determination is also used through persuasive and emotional language in the article 'Pas de deux'. The Queensland Dance School of Excellence is an education program offered in partnership with Ballet. It provides the opportunities for talented dance students to continue their dance training in the upper Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Life In The New World Essay Life In The New World If we go way back to a world–wide crucial time period, the life of Native Americans in today's continental United States, what we encounter is a vast land consisting of various tribes with distinctive cultures, lifestyles and religious beliefs with obviously one thing in common, savagery. As the Europeans started to settle, the Colonial period began, different civilizations clashed with each other which changed the society, economics, and politics for several reasons, affecting the lives of European–Americans, African–Americans, and Native–Americans, creating conflicts and among them. Before the European colonies arrived, a vast part of America was inhabited by the Native Americans. They were savages, living...show more content... As the European settlers and explorlers arrived to America, the Natives were displaced from their land, they were enslaved by the European colonies, and this conquest became easier due to several diseases and huge population loss. The people in Europe were excited and curious about the New World, they had hopes about their future and they thought that the hardships they had back home would dissappear as new opportunities would emerge. The Puritans, one of the communities in England, set sail from England to the New World and immigrated to Massachusetts in hope that this new found land will bring them new opportunuties and their religious colony will grow. They weren't curious about getting rich, what they really wanted to achieve was to become a model community that all the world would look forward to. Religion was very significant to them, they wanted to be known as pure Christians. In the document "We shall be as a City upon a Hill", we see the relationship between god and community as they believed in a religious contract called Covenant. "Now if the Lord shall please to hear us, and bring us in peace to the place we desire,..." As we read these lines, we understand this relationship between them better. They believed that if they manage to make it through the ocean to the New World, God would have completed his part of the contract. • 7. Into the Wild Analysis Essay Christopher Johnson McCandless walked alone into the Alaskan wilderness with very little equipment and food after traveling to various parts of North America during the course of two years. Regardless of living on his own with not many things for a couple of years, Chris died alone in a bus on the Stampede Trail in Alaska. Author Jon Krakauer wrote a 9,000 word article titled "Death of an Innocent" for the 1993 issue of the magazine Outside. Into the Wild is simply an extension of that article which explains what provoked Chris into living such a life, who he was, and how he died. The author proves to the reader that Chris was an intelligent man by explaining his research about edible plants and his ambition which builds up Chris's...show more content... Westerberg even offers to buy Chris a plane ticket so that Chris would be able to still make it to Alaska by the time he wanted to and still work an extra ten days. Although Chris refuses saying that it would be cheating by flying, it becomes evident that he gets extremely impatient when even the slightest thing delays him even though Chris does not have a set deadline. Chris is very intelligent and well–educated, and his passion for his Alaska trip helps prove to other people that he is just not doing it on a whim. The author creates Chris's credibility when Chris keeps his promise of keeping in touch with the people he meets and having the impeccable ability to never quitting once he starts something. Jan Burres and her husband, Bob, liked Chris very much and "when [Chris] left, [Jan and Bob] never expected to hear from him again, but [Chris] made a point of staying in touch." Over the course of two years, Chris sends Jan and Bob a postcard every month or two. Without getting too attached, Chris is able to keep his promise of keeping in touch which proves that he is reliable. • 8. Into the Wild Essay In April of 1992 a young man named Chris McCandless, from a prosperous and loving family, hitchhiked across the country to Alaska. He gave $25,000 of his savings to charity, left his car and nearly all of his possessions. He burned all the cash he had in his wallet, and created a new life. Four months later, his body was found in an abandoned bus. Jon Krakauer constructed a journalistic account of McCandless's story. Bordering on obsession, Krakauer looks for the clues to the mystery that is Chris McCandless. What he finds is the intense pull of the wilderness on our imagination, the appeal of high–risk activities to young men. When McCandless's mistakes turn out to be fatal he is dismissed for his naivetГ©. He was said by some to have a...show more content... So in this way Jon and Chris were alike even though their goals were different. Another way the two were similar was the fact that they both had family problems. Though his parents and sister loved him Chris secretly despised his parents for covering up the fact that his father had been raising two separate families. Just like Chris's father Lewis Krakauer had already begun to prepare him for a career that he didn't want to be any part of. I think both sons were consumed by a sort of blind rage when they found out that their fathers were less than perfect. This anger fueled them to rebel and go against their fathers wishes to make their own futures. The biggest (and most obvious) difference between Jon and Chris is that one died living out his dream and the other lived to walk away from it. Most people would say that Chris failed because his goal was to survive in the wilderness. Others would say that Jon succeeded because he made it too the top and lived to tell his tale. However were the incidents really that different? Chris lived in the Alaskan wilderness almost a hundred days before his fateful mistake that cost him his life. Jon also had a few fateful mistakes that could have cost him his life but didn't, like the time he caught his tent on fire or when his supply plane couldn't come because of bad weather. Most people wouldn't even dream of doing either of these feats. When the risks are as high as either of these men Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Billy Elliot Analysis The film Billy Elliot, by Stephen Daldry, gives a point of view of what this young boy goes through when he is family does not accept his new–found love for ballet. One day at boxing practice, Billy sees the ballet practice going on and decides to join in. Little did he know he would enjoy it as much as he did. Although Billy enjoyed it so much, it was not easily accepted by his family and they made that show clearly understood. Throughout the film this is the storyline that is really defining the separation between sex and gender. I believe the author, Stephen Daldry, uses the separation between sex and gender to show what the gender norms are and how they are looked down upon in some places if not followed correctly. After Billy's first...show more content... Later on, in the movie, Billy finds out that one of his close friends, Michael, is gay. Although he is not gay, he supports his friend. Michael is so young and already understands he is more into boys than girls, Billy becomes very interested in how a boy so young can already know that. Thinking about the fact that Michael and Billy are the same age and assuming that Michael is not forming to the basic boy actions of society it is very impressive that these boys do not care about what others think about them. Such as the scene where Billy shows up at Michael's house and Michael is wearing dress. Billy wasn't so sure about it at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
