Student Expansion (FIU)
FIU was founded by Chuck Perry, Butler Waugh, Donald McDowell and Nick Sileo. It was
founded in June 1965. A lot of colleges or universities are founded for a particular group, but this
one wasn't. It is located in Miami, FL, it hasn't been moved over the years and its official address
is 11200 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33199. So far no famous people have attended this school, but that
doesn't mean it's not a good university. The school official colors are blue and gold and their mascot

Procrastination At FIU
Arguments from Principle
Students at FIU should learn more about the real cause of procrastination because it can help the
students that tend to procrastinate to find a way to overcome this problem.
Arguments from Consequence
Students at FIU need to learn more about procrastination because it would help to prevent them from
the stress and health problems that procrastination causes.
Arguments from Precedent
Learning about procrastination can help those students to take the fist step, accept they procrastinate
and take action right away toward getting rid of this bad habit. This way those students procrastinate
would stress less, get better grades and enjoy more the college experience.

FIU Reflective Essay
After becoming the NCO of FIU in 2015, as part of my review of the unit and personnel, I
recognized that a traditional review of work files would not prove effective when assessing the
proficiency and success of FIU members given the specialized nature of their work. While
reviewing completed FIU files, I utilized departmental databases to create new data sets which
allowed me to see not only the number of files each FIU member took on per work period, but also
provided the ability to measure individual member success at locating evidence at scenes, and
identifying suspects. After conducting the review, I found some of the more senior members of the
unit, while attending a good number of calls statistically, found very little evidence or identified

PC Cayer advised he wanted to become a deacon with the Catholic Church, and doing so would
require several years of university study and other church commitments. Given the FIU shifting
model he couldn't meet the commitments and remain in the FIU, and requested a transfer. I
recognized PC Cayer was a valuable and well–liked member of the FIU, had years remaining in
tenure, and represented a significant training investment. I asked PC Cayer if he would prefer to
stay in FIU, if I could develop a schedule which would meet his, and the needs of the FIU, and
asked permission to share his goals, as the staffing model required other unit member's assistance. I
gained unit support for PC Cayer, with members agreeing to change shifting. I encouraged PC
Cayer to become the FIU training officer, to fulfill his and unit goals. I organized and scheduled
additional training for PC Cayer, to prepare him to become the unit trainer, and transitioned him to
that role. I have mentored PC Cayer on his teaching and mentoring skills to improve his

FIU Personal Statement
My choice to attend FIU was one of the easier ones I've made so far in my academic career. I was
drawn to the university as I felt a sense of community here that has only been further enhanced as a
legacy, with both my mother and stepfather having completed their Bachelor degrees at this
institution. The relationships and connections my parents were able to build here were a testament
to FIU's ability to bring together people from so many different backgrounds and create a family. I
experienced an even greater connection as my stepfather found a lifelong friendship and mentor in
an FIU staff member and honored him by making him the godfather of one of my younger brothers.
Thus, FIU has been a special part of my life even before college was...show more content...
I am currently a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society, an international psychology honor society,
and recently joined FIU's chapter of the co–ed premedical fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon. These
organizations allow me to participate in events and activities geared towards academic excellence
and community service in science, values that I believe are fundamental not only to a career in
medicine but to being a great student here at FIU. I was also given the opportunity to become
involved with Peer–Led Team Learning, a program that works closely with the Biology
department, where I served as a leader for several semesters and intend to continue to do so when
my course load allows for it once again. In addition, I volunteer as a research assistant for the Child
Narratives Lab in FIU's Psychology department gaining hands–on experience with conducting studies
and interacting with children in a research setting. Finally, I am a work–study in the Financial Aid
department. As it stands, I am deeply involved with many different aspects of FIU and I only hope
to do more in the future. My fraternity has offered opportunities for leadership that I hope to take
advantage of such as positions in Student Government. I also have plans to apply for a role on the
Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution's Student Conduct Committee to be more active in the
campus

FIU Athletic Case Study
For any athletic program during any sporting event, a brawl breaking out between the two opposing
teams could be considered an undesirable situation. During a game between the Florida International
University Golden Panthers and the Miami Hurricanes, that very thing happened and severe
punishments were handed down by both programs to those involved. On October 14, 2016, a game
between these two "cross town rivals" took place, and there was trash talk and penalties throughout
the game. All of these penalties and trash talk led to a brawl that took place after a touchdown catch
by running back James Bryant. According to Susan Miller Degnan, Barry Jackson, and Michelle
Kaufman of the Miami Herald, "after Bryant ran inside the pylon for the score,...show more content...
According to Florida International's athletic department mission statement (2014), "participation in
FIU Athletics will provide student–athletes with the opportunity to pursue a quality education in one
of America's leading urban universities and develop a value system which encourages discipline,
teamwork, self–confidence, and leadership skills, and sportsmanship in an equitable and diverse
environment" (p.15). Had this sentence not been a part of their mission statement prior to this event,
it would have made for a perfect addition to their mission statement after the brawl occurred. Every
student athlete involved in this brawl should have received a rougher punishment than what was
handed down to them. It is unclear what Florida International's mission statement was prior to this
incident, however, based upon their current mission statement those athletes would receive the harsh
punishment they deserve. Based upon what the Florida International University Athletic
Department's mission statement currently states, those athletes involved in this brawl should have
not just received a dismissal from the team, but a dismissal from the school as well. Those athletes
who do not deserve the scholarships they are handed and embarrass the institution they are attending
do not deserve to attend

My Future Essay
My future is something I often think about. Most often, the questions that arise include the
common doubts of "Am I doing this right?", or even the occasional midnight philosophical
questions such as "Why are we here?", and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the
factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and
continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future.
Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something
greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard,
allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the
imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and
vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My
parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it
despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to
my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is
extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long–term plan, you could get lost in
dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life
have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives

Leadership Application Essay
I held an elected leadership position every year of my high school career. As a junior, I lead a
yearlong community service project that included preparing and organizing a fundraising fair during
which our class raised over $14,000. These funds were donated to multiple charities. This was one of
the most rewarding leadership positions I have held, because I was able to give back to both my
local and global communities. As a tri–varsity, three–season athlete and the captain of both the field
hockey and crew teams, I was recognized by my peers as a leader and was elected, in my senior
year, as an Athletic
Association Head and one of the Seven Heads of School. This allowed me to give back to my
school community, to continue to push my peers,...show more content...
These leadership roles have taught me the value of integrity, commitment, and community and have
solidified my goal to someday achieve a rank of Admiral in the United States Navy.
I have faced many challenges leading up to college and am currently challenged by being a female,
aeronautical engineering major in a heavily male–dominated field. However, my toughest challenge
has been succeeding in joining the Navy. Two consecutive summers I applied to the Naval Academy's
STEM Summer Camp and Summer Seminar, respectively. I was accepted to neither. Despite these
disappointments, I was determined to join the Navy and applied for the National Naval Reserve
Officer
Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship. After months of waiting, my scholarship application was
denied; I had again been rejected from a program that would lead me to a career in the Navy. Once
accepted to
Purdue University, I was again faced with deciding whether to risk further rejection in pursuing
NROTC admission via the College Program. This time, persevering through another application
process yielded the results I'd been hoping for; I have responded by volunteering within the unit

FIU Student's Failure
The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine's promise of a nurturing environment in addition to
its mission, vision and values symbolizes an institution that strongly resonates with my own personal
goals as a future physician whose qualities are guided by the background of research, efficiency, and
community involvement. The concept that structures a successful research are the fundamentals that
apply to medicine, beginning with a theory, prediction, experimentation and finally observation;
fundamentals realized and understood throughout my undergraduate year. On my first day, my
research advisor said that I should strive for excellence and I should not be halted by the failures I
may experience, instead, learn from those failures and adapt. Keeping this ideology in mind I was
able to assist my team towards the completion of our project.

Application for FIT Essay
Wayne Dyer once said "doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life".
Ever since I was a little girl, fashion has always been a very important part of my life. However,
while most young girls were busy designing Barbie's next outfit, I was enthusiastically trying to
figure out the best way to market and sell Barbie to my friends. This habit did not end during my
childhood years; rather it followed me through high school. I firmly believe that being passionate
about your career can add much happiness and depth to your life. By attending FIT I can bring and
take away positive ideas and qualities.
Throughout my high school career I focused on law. Law was not my passion but with a family full
of lawyers it is what I...show more content...
In my personal life I have displayed the quality of determination. During my young adolescent years
I was the victim of bullying. Not only did I receive this unfair treatment from my fellow students,
but I also received it from an unexpected source– a teacher. After three years of harassment, things
finally improved. I went to high school and learned how to defend myself. I gained my self–
confidence back and was able to use my experience to help others. During my sophomore year in
high–school, I helped launch two clubs. One club was for a free Tibet and the other to help stop
bullying in our school and area. Being determined helped me move on from what happened to me
and I was able to turn it into something positive that could help others.
The "Advertising, Marketing, and Communications" field is more than just a major. It is dealing
with people, using your mind, being creative, and being willing to step into the unknown. This
career requires people who are able to take charge and handle tasks in the best manner possible,
talents I believe I possess. To study this major at FIT, one must love fashion and be passionate
about it. Fashion does not just involve clothing, but it can tell a story and can convey different
emotions. It takes a special type of person to be able to create, advertise and market fashion. Being
able effectively communicate with individuals is also a very important skill that is

Essay on The Future of Education
The Future of Education
As teachers our primary concern should be the students and what type of learning environment will
be best suited to meet their needs. There are many different opinions as top what the most effective
or appropriate curriculum is for the students. I do not believe there is any one philosophy that can
provide the ideal curriculum for each and every student. Just as there are numerous methods of
teaching, there are also numerous ways to learn. It is essential that we keep this in mind as we help
the students achieve their goals and discover their talents. Above all we must encourage the students
to try new things and do what we can to prevent limiting them in any way.
I do not feel that I...show more content...
I think that many of the schools today merely try to prepare the students to move on to college and
by doing so exclude the students who are gifted with other abilities that are equally important and
useful in society, even though those talents may not necessarily be something that can be refined
through a traditional four year college.
As a future teacher, I very strongly believe that students need to be shown practical applications of
the concepts they are taught. For myself this is especially notable in mathematical applications. As
teachers we need to not just show how to work through a problem: we need to show why it works
and what it is useful for. Without something to apply the information to math is nothing more than a
stream of numbers and formulas that students memorize for a specific test and then quickly forget.
By demonstrating specific examples of applications the students will be able to retain some of the
information easier and then adapt what they learn to other problems they encounter in the future.
Upon graduation I hope to begin teaching Math at the middle school or high school level.
Geometry, Trigonometry, and Algebra would be my first choices of classes I would like to teach,
but I feel I would enjoy teaching any of the other forms of math. I would prefer to teach in a rural
area since that is the

During my sophomore year in high–school, I helped launch two clubs. One club was for a free Tibet and the other to help stop bullying in our school and area. Being determined helped me move on from what happened to me and I was able to turn it into something positive that could help others. The "Advertising, Marketing, and Communications" field is more than just a major. It is dealing with people, using your mind, being creative, and being willing to step into the unknown. As teachers we need to not just show how to work through a problem: we need to show why it works and what it is useful for. Without something to apply the information to math is nothing more than a stream of numbers and formulas that students memorize for a specific test and then quickly forget. By demonstrating specific examples of applications the students will be able to retain some of the information easier and then adapt what they learn to other problems they encounter in the future. Upon graduation I hope to begin teaching Math at the middle school or high school level. Geometry, Trigonometry, and Algebra would be my first choices of classes I would like to teach, but I feel I would enjoy teaching any of the other forms of math. I would prefer to teach in a rural area since that is the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
