Information on Contemporary Civil Protection actions to involved bodies of the Municipalities of
Edessa and Kastoria
On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May, an information event was held at the Civil Protection bodies of the
Municipalities of Edessa and Kastoria, on the topic "Contemporary Civil Protection Actions".
Representatives of these Regions, Municipalities, Civil Protection, Fire Department, Police and National
Emergency Aid Centre greeted the event.
Associate Professor DIPAE N. Kokkinos, Deputy Project Leader, analyzing the program and presenting the
modern crisis management training tools developed under the program, opened the event. This was
followed by two presentations, by Mr. Ioannis Amanatidis (MSc), PS Officer, on "The new dimension of
civil protection" and by Mr. Petros Paslamouskas (MSc), PS Officer, on "Forest Management Of fires ".
The above information - training event is part of the RESISTANT project, which is funded by the European
Union (EU) under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM-2020) program. The aim of the project is to
create the first European training platform for first responders, to help our fellow citizens at risk. In
addition to creating the platform, this project includes training, information and preparation techniques
for dealing with natural hazards that are supervised with the help of augmented reality and is aimed at
students, citizens and tourists.
The RESISTANT project, which is coordinated by the International Hellenic University with Professor D.
Emmanouloudis, Project Leader, involves seven partners from four different countries (Greece, Ireland,
Croatia, and Republic of Northern Macedonia).
