The Importance Of Success And Time Management
Success and time management are intrinsically intertwined. Time well spent leads to success; time squandered leads to failure. Soft skills are in great
demand today and time management is one of the most important skills one needs to master for personal and professional success. In fact it requires
time to master all other skills. Its tremendous value is felt but to manage one's time is not an easy task – it needs will and effort to do so. Students, the
future professionals, can use a variety of strategies to manage their time for better results. This paper looks at how time plays an important role and
suggests some feasible strategies like goal setting, prioritizing, being regular etc. for students to manage their time effectively in order to achieve
success.
Patrick Forsyth says, "good, effective time management is a core skill, a career skill that we all need both to make us able to perform in a current job
and to enhance our career prospects. It is a real differentiating factor...that gives you an edge on other people perhaps of equal ability, but who lack this
aspect of self–organization and discipline." (page ix, preface)
One of the simple but effective methods is to prepare a 'to do' list i.e. write down all the things that need to be done to prepare for completing
assignments, writing exams etc. This can be further improved by listing these items in order of priorities. i.e. items A, B or C. The author of 7 Habits
of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey, states

Time Management Is A Misnomer
Time Management
In many respects the term time management is a misnomer. After all, it implies that in some way or another we can control time, which is simply
impossible to do. Each one of us has exactly the same amount of time in a given day and none of us get a "do over." Some people feel that they are
constantly under pressure, going from pillar to post as they try to accomplish what they need to do. They feel that they're constantly under stress and
never able to catch up and consequently these people do struggle to achieve what they're trying to achieve and become successful. However, other
people seem to march forward relentlessly with their plans and strangely enough never appear to be watching the clock at all. We need to find out what
their secret is and what their approach to time management is too.
One of the first things that you need to commit to when learning time management is change. You are going to have to look at your entire life in a
different light and become very sophisticated when it comes to allocation, delegation and decision–making. You're going to find that your interpretation
of time management differs significantly from that of other people. After all, remember that a majority of people with... Show more content on

You don't need to be a slave to the old way of doing things or to established systems if they simply do not make sense. Critically assess these old
systems and don't be afraid to change them. When it comes to old habits, checking e–mail has got to be one of the worst. If you have your e–mail set
up so that it automatically delivers new e–mails to you every 30 minutes or so, switch off that automation to start with. Bury the habit of checking your
e–mail first thing in the morning and automatically diving into the process of putting out fires associated with incoming e–mail requests. Allocate a
specific time each day to check e–mail and continuously question any request that may be marked by its originator as

Time Management Worksheet
Time Management
Completing the time management worksheet was interesting and somewhat discouraging. I was amazed to see that I have my days literally
scheduled out to the hour. I didn't add up my hours until the very end, and had exactly 168 hours scheduled out! Yes, there may be some slight
variance from week to week, but this pattern is a pretty standard schedule for my life. I juggle a lot of tasks, and have a lot of practice doing so. The
routine, that I implemented in grade school, has helped my mind and body know what to expect. Setting expectations helps strengthen your resolve to
stick with the routine, and it gets easier with practice. Since my time management skills were developed at a young age I was able to avoid bad habits
such as hitting the snooze button, tardiness, and being unprepared. My parents were fantastic in teaching me these skills when the results were less
crucial. Being late or unprepared for grade school has a smaller impact than being late to your job as an adult. Learning these skills as a child is a lot
easier than learning as an adult. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only activities I can afford to trim out are the fun ones, and even the discretionary time is minimal! I don't want to lose out on visiting friends

it also confirms a legitimate reason for why I'm so tired at the end of the

Time Management Reflection
Since I learned how to write the task came relatively easy to me. I have no problem putting my thoughts onto paper or doing the necessary research to
give accurate information. However, I struggled with punctuation, run on sentences, sentence fragments, comma splices and most recently to–be verbs.
I can get information down easily enough, and I have a good flow to my papers. However, time management and procrastination set potentially A plus
papers back a lot.
For my research paper "Women's Rights around the World" I procrastinated until the last possible moment to finish it. I had done my research and
planning but not the actual writing of it making my paper rushed and unedited. According to Gamauf in his article on time management, "one element
that can help you with your time management activities is planning." Just writing what you need to do on your phone or calendar can help you get
organized. I would need to sit down after getting the assignment and make a schedule and adhere to that schedule so that I don't write my paper in the
middle of the night. I could plan ahead and make an appointment with a tutor along the way to get a fresh pair of eyes on my paper and much–needed
advice. I also need to self–analyze "This process requires you to first examine what areas you are struggling with, figure out how you learn best and
in what ways you have overcome similar struggles in the past and make the proper decisions to do what is best for you" ("Feeling Overwhelmed?").

My Goals Of The Time Management
After taking the time management quiz, I received a total score of seven out of ten. My score of seven reflects good time management skills, however
it does state overall it could be improved in minor ways.
In regards to the quiz, the first area of improvement would involve to slow down. I do always tend to feel I am in a hurry and rushed to do things.
Whether it's in the morning trying to get myself ready for work, getting my son ready for school and out the door, to ensuring I leave work on
time to beat traffic and arrive at his aftercare before 6om and have to pay a few. I tend to also feel hurried in the evening as I need to get home,
provide dinner for my son before we turn around and back out the door to attend his karate class. A second area of improvement of my time
management would be feeling less guilty if I take time for myself and/ or my family instead of completing school work or studying. Although I do
purposefully spend time with my family, sometimes I feel that it may end up being too much time, particularly not productive family time. I feel
that I may end up spending too much time getting caught up in doing things around the house that I do not put in an adequate amount of time for
my school work. This is my first semester back in college after 20 years and I am still in the process of finding a good balance between, work, personal
and school life. Lastly, I should try to improve the overall feeling that I work better under pressure. I tend to

Time Management In Social Work
Social workers, like all workers, fall into harmful patterns and habits that waste too much time in a day. Wasting their time with distractions, having an
abundance of caseloads, and being on call for emergency cases are all factors that can cause them to lose track of their time. This is where time
management becomes important. The way a social worker manages their time not only affects their job, but it also could result in children being in
harmful circumstances for a longer period. Time management in the workplace can be achieved in a proper way to ensure that everything gets done
in the correct amount of time. "One drawback is that social workers are generally assigned very large caseloads, and it can be difficult to meet the
needs of all of your clients" (5 Time Management Tips, n.d.). I believe helping children and families overcome obstacles is the focus for becoming a
social worker, and time management is something that must be done to help each family that is a part of your caseload. Also, figuring out what
sidetracks you and prevents you from doing your tasks in a timely manner will help you eliminate those things and perform better. One last thing that
can help you manage your time is realizing you simply have too much work, simply ask for help if this occurs. What is time management? According to
Laura Stack, time management is traditionally considered a management strictness, but you cannot perform an improved job at it by extending how
much time you have.

Personal Narrative: Time Management
Have you ever wondered how productive you were during the day? Well, I did. I wanted to know if I managed my whole day to be as productive as I
should be. So, to if I was, I used the Time Management worksheet form wellcast.com to keep track and analyze for each hour for one day. As each
hour passed for that day, I would record the things I have done in that time frame and slowly started to see the time wasters in my day that I was not
being productive. When the day ended, I found out that I had five time wasters which I was surprised that they totaled in three hours of time spent on
doing literally nothing. After seeing this, I decided to strategizes how to minimize the time wasters by doing actual productive college work and focus
on techniques to make sure I do not miss upcoming events for my classes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the day. I try to read a book for class but end up abandoning it because the ride was not smooth and I start getting headaches, so I just chilled out for
about 30 minutes. My fourth time waster was when I was riding the B.O.B. shuttle from the Marietta campus to get to the Kennesaw campus. I tried

Time management is often thought of when describing task related to business management or executive positions; those who have meetings and
appointments related to business deals as well as meeting deadlines and time lines. However, time management is something everyone will have to
deal with no matter the task or job. The following essay will describe time management and its importance in the work place as well as its importance
for those who use it on a more personal level such as studying and learning. The essay will also explore strategies for maximizing time management and
the associated individual responsibilities of time management. Finally, the benefits of time management will be discussed.

Phillips (2009) also suggest some unconventional strategies such as taking a break, which may seem as a waste at time; however this will allow
tasks or jobs to be looked at with fresh eyes after a break. Phillips (2009) also suggest that developing an ability to say no to certain assignments which
can be beneficial in reducing overload, while this may be feasible for work assignments it does not work with school assignments. Lastly Phillips (2009)
recommends that time is made to maintain optimum health which includes eating right and getting enough rest as well as scheduling and keeping
health checkups. Care must be taken to adapt the strategies that will best suit individual needs, while some advocate checking emails regularly as well
as dealing with distractions, others suggest strategies that minimize interruptions, such as standing during phone conversations, or repeatedly checking
the time while having a face to face conversations all in an effort to cut the distractions short (You can't make more time, 2008). It has also been
suggested to turn off e–mail alerts during peak working time to maximize the time spent doing work (You can't make more time, 2008). These

Time Management
Time Management is the control and focus of a person's actions for the purpose of improving efficiency.
Time management techniques typically involve setting goals, establishing priorities, budgeting the amount of time allotted to a given activity, and
planning and scheduling the steps needed to achieve goals.
Generally, time management refers to the development of processes and tools that increase efficiency and productivity.
When we think of time management, we tend to think of personal time management, loosely defined as managing our time to waste less time on doing
the things we have to do so we have more time to do the things that we want to do.
Therefore, time management is often thought of or presented as a set of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is, therefore, essential to plan one's work and that of the subordinates in an efficient manner and also identify 'Time Wasters' and make efforts to
eliminate/reduce them. Examples of Time Wasters are:
(i) In fructuous meetings
(ii) Poor communication
(iii) Unwanted visitors
(iv) Disorganised work
The basic cause of time wastage at work can be classified as follows:
(a) Over–staffing is common cause of wastage of time. Since most of the people do not have clearly defined work for the whole day, they often
obstruct each other and create unnecessary problems.
(b) Time is wasted on account of faulty organisation of work. Work is not planned sufficiently in advance.
(c) There is enormous wastage of time and effort due to various meetings often at various locations, which are not properly directed and drag on
endlessly.
(d) Time is often wasted because the relevant information is not readily available or the information available is inaccurate. Similarly collection, storage
and distribution of unnecessary information is wasteful.
Though one has to evolve one's own technique of time management depending on the circumstances, the three cardinal principles are:
(a) Span of Attention:
There is a natural limit to how long one can concentrate on a particular activity or task. This is called span of attention.
(b) Provisions of time in adequate chunks:

Time Management And Its Impact On Students
Many students find it hard to manage their time well; whether they are trying to juggle academic responsibilities such as just getting to classes, trying
to keep up with the continuous demands of each class like studying, or with trying to complete multiple assignments that have to be completed before
the deadline. It can be onerous. Especially, in college, there are so many distractions: different clubs, sports, and other campus activities that you can
participate in such LEAD helping the community and the most distracting one of all homecomings and other school events. Time management is the
way that you properly use your time by balancing out everything that you have to accomplish. Time management has such an impact on students
because without managing your time you would never be able to get any of your tasks done in college. For example, Sam has a big test tomorrow in
his English class that he needs to study for. Sam also has a really important project that he must complete as well that counts for forty percent of his
grade in his Strategies for Success class. If he poorly manages his time he is unable to dictate enough time to each of his two tasks studying and
working on his project to succeed in both classes. As I did research for time management I came across three articles that supported this idea of the
importance of time management. One study done by Hafner, Oberst, and Stock (2014) talked about avoiding procrastination through time management.

Time Management In High School
Time Management
What would make a student fail a class? There are many reason why someone could fail.
Students from every college across the nation struggle with financial problems, transportation, picking the wrong major, etc. A major problem with
many students, including myself, is poor time management. Not the most well–known reason to fail a class and is mostly thought of to be a small
problem, but it causes smart people to slip up in college a lot. Either it be having a full plate of responsibilities and not having enough time for school
or just pure procrastination, it can very easily lead someone to flunk a college course.
With most students it's that they don't make good study habits in high school and it carries into college. Students don't bother with planning out their
time and wait till the last minute to study for an exam or to finish an essay. This may have worked sometimes in high school, but in college it is
impossible to be successful with horrible habits with the workload students receive in college compared to high school. In "The Student Fear Factor"
Melanie says
"I never realized how fast college would be, comparing one year of high school with one semester of college. It's really fast pace." (Cox 24). With
way more information to learn and exams to take compared to high school, there is so time for slouching around. It takes effort and motivation to put
in more time for school and realize that college is way more important than what their friend just

Notes On Time Management And Stress
Time management and stress are directly correlated to an extent. Based on what I have read and experienced, lacking the ability to manage time will
result in higher levels of stress. According to Nonis, Hudson, Logan, and Ford (1998), "[Having] perceived control of time [can be] a stress–coping
strategy with particular emphasis on three key student outcomes: academic performance, problem–solving ability, and heath" (588–589). In other
words, having the perception that you manage your time well, will actually result in lower stress levels. Time management issues such as
procrastination, can influence the way you perceive your time management skills. Based on research done by Nonis et al., you do not necessarily
have to manage your time well to be less stressed, you just have to believe that you manage your time well. Although it may be harder to be confident
in your time management skills if you procrastinate, it is still possible to manage time poorly and still be less stressed than someone who actually does
manage their time well. Because how you perceive the way you manage time and how you actually manage your time are directly related, it can be
assumed that time management and stress go together hand–in–hand.
Throughout high school and what I have experienced so far in college, I can honestly say that I have dealt with issues of learning to manage time and
stress. Since I dual enrolled into a community college while I was still in high school, I got to experience what

Time Management At The Same Time
Time Management I can hear some moms already groaning. Time is a scarce resource for many moms. In the course of any given day, I keep
wishing for more hours. However, every one of us has been given the same number of hours. It's up to you to organize and prioritize your activities for
maximum success. If you don't know how to multi–task, I suggest you learn how to do it. The ability to multi–task will serve you well. I completed a
few online tests while breastfeeding at the same time. The key was to be fully prepared and have everything I needed to complete the test in front
of me. I discovered I could get a lot of stuff done at the same time with a little bit of creativity. I'm convinced that moms are the most creative
people on the planet. It's amazing what we can come up with when our backs are against the wall. To achieve your goal, you must learn to
schedule work, classes, study time, and sleep time or risk burning out. Some single moms work fulltime and attend college part time, or go to
school fulltime and work part time. Staying organized is essential for success. I suggest you use a calendar to keep track of when assignments are
due. Use a planner to keep track of your activities and stay organized. Don't wait until the last minute to complete assignments since that would only
add more pressure to your life. It may also affect the quality of your work. Do you think I'm talking from experience? Can I be real for a moment? I

Introduction
It is rightly said "Time and Tide wait for none". An individual should understand the value of time for him to succeed in all aspects of life. People who
waste time are the ones who fail to create an identity of their own.
My Rational on my first action plan was:
I have poor attitudes towards managing time, such as managing time to study. Developing effective study habits is important as they will help me to
use my study time more productively and will also help to handle stress. Therefore, learning some effective memory techniques, developing a good
support network and working with other class members will enhance our study habits (Anthony, 2012). So it is important for me to make an action plan

Time Management refers to making the best use of time as time is always limited. Time Management plays a very important role not only in
organizations but also in our personal lives. (Management Study Guide)
Time Management includes:
1.Effective Planning
2.Setting goals and objectives
3.Setting deadlines
4.Delegation of responsibilities
5.Prioritizing activities as per their importance
6.Spending the right time on the right activity
Effective planning:
Plan your day well in advance. Prepare a To Do List or a "TASK PLAN". Jot down the important activities that need to be done in a single day against
the time that should be allocated to each activity. High Priority work should come on top followed by those which do not need much of your
importance at the moment. Complete pending tasks one by one. Do not begin fresh work unless you have finished your previous task. Tick the ones
you have already completed. Ensure you finish the tasks within the stipulated time frame (Management Study Guide).
Setting goals and objectives:
Working without goals and targets in an organization would be similar to a situation where the captain of the ship loses his way in the sea. Yes, you
would be lost. Set targets for yourself and make sure they are realistic ones and achievable (Management Study Guide).
Setting deadlines
Set deadlines for yourself and strive hard to complete tasks ahead of the deadlines. Do not

Effects Of Time Management On Stress
Time Management and its effect on stress level.
Abstract:
Time as a precious resource requires proper planning at the time of spending on various things. The proper planning of time is called Time
Management by which the right time is allocated to the right work. Author of the present paper attempted to find out the effects of timemanagement on
other variables and attributes of peoples. For this purpose, a number of prominent studies undertaken between 1990 and 2010 were analysed. More or
less, all studies which were reviewed reported salubrious effect of time management on the stress level.
Keywords:
Time Management, Stress, Effects, Male and Female.
We always hear people speaking about time management and importance of it. Time management is allocation of time according to importance of
work. In another words, allocation of the right quantity of time to the right work is time management. In order to find out the effects that can have the
time management on the other variables especially the stress level of peoples, some major studies from 1990 to 2010 have been reviewed.
Macan et al. (1990) [1] done a study on 165 students to find out the effects of time management on students' stress, self perception of performance and
Grade Point Average (GPA). Their study revealed major findings. One of the most predictive independent factors of Time Management Behaviour
scale was perceived control of time [1]. Students reported significantly higher evaluations of their performance, much work and life satisfaction, least
role ambiguity, least role overload and fewer job caused tensions, who perceived control of their time [1].
An eventful study undertaken by Britton et al. (1991) [2] tested the hypothesis that college Grade Point Average (GPA) would be predicted by time
management practices. In that study 90 college students were participated. As a result of the study it was concluded that time management practices
may influence college achievements [2].
In the study of Mark Trueman et al. (1996) [3] it was indicated that – (i) Women students showed significantly higher time management skills than did
men students [3]. (ii) Older and mature students showed

Don 't Waste Time With Time Management
Don 't Waste Time With Time Management
By Laura Ashley–Timms
Nov 24, 2011
We 've all heard of the concept of Time Management, but how many of us would claim that we have really mastered it?
How do you succeed at managing your time? There is more to it than simply having and following a schedule, as anybody who has tried this
approach knows. Trying to organise what you already do in a day to fit into a smaller space of time will not be possible simply because you type it up
and print it out as an itinerary or write it down in a planner. For this reason we talk instead about Time Leverage, a more practical approach to making
sure that your time is being used as effectively as possible.
Time is a restricted resource.
Some companies may have bigger start–up funds or a better network of potential clients, but everybody is gifted the same amount of time in a day.
Planning how to use the time you are given should not be a matter of working through a to–do list as fast as you possibly can. Whilst this may make
you super efficient, it may not be moving you towards your goals. For instance, you may be incredibly organised in checking your mail and emails
daily, with a small or empty inbox, but if you never find a moment to email or call a potential new client or an important contact, you simply remain
static, performing tasks which will not move you closer to your or your organisation 's goals.
Be effective, not just efficient.
You will hopefully, as a business owner, already

A time management system is a designed combination of processes, tools, techniques, and methods. Usually time management is a necessity in any
project development as it determines the project completion time and scope.
In business, time management has morphed into everything from methodologies such as Enterprise Resource Planning through consultant services
such as Professional Organizers. When we think of time management, however, we tend to think of personal time management, loosely defined as
managing our time to waste less time on doing the things we have to do so we have more time to do the things we want to do. Therefore, time
management is often thought of or presented as a set of time management skills; the theory is that once we master the time management skills, we'll be
more organized, efficient, and happier. There are an abundance of books, classes, workshops, day–planners, and seminars on time management, which
teach individuals and corporations how to be more organized and more productive. Time management has become crucial in recent years thanks to the
24/7, busy world in which we live.
Time management is important for everyone. While time management books and seminars often place their focus on business leaders and corporations,
time management is also crucial for students, teachers, factory workers, professionals, and home makers. Time management is perhaps most essential

things are finished first. If you fail to stop and take breaks, you can't and won't produce the highest quality of work. Taking a 5–10–minute break every
hour or two shouldn't be notified as "wasting time". Procrastination is something every person does. One useful strategy is to tell yourself that you're
only going to start on a project for ten minutes. When you fail to manage distractions, the minutes you spend on

Stress And Time Management Essay
Literature Review
This paper draws literature that discusses stress and time management in relation to leadership skills that subscribes to an embodied view of
organisations.
In Forsyth (2003), time management is about working actively to create efficiency and effectiveness in a way that makes achieving your target more
likely. Good effective time management is a core skill, a differentiating factor which allows you to have an edge over other people (Williams &
Cooper 2002). Time management is not optional; it is something that everyone has to acquire in order to work effectively, to achieve work–life balance
and most importantly helping us to stay focus. Everyone practices time management to some degree; the only question is how ... Show more content on

While stress is typically discussed in a negative context, it does have positive values. Brewer (1995) notes that seeing stress as a force that motivates
and energizes you rather than making one anxious and frustrated, allows channeling of energy into productive results.
However, most people view stress as detrimental (stress: from symptoms to syndromes journal) to our overall well–being. Stress comes from various
channels of sources; task and role demands in the workplace, at home and in school etc, in fact your attitude towards time determines the stress level
at which you choose to operate in (gift of time journal). Burnout occurs when one experiences too much stress for an extended period of time (Roney
& Cooper, 1997).
Effective time management is often one used strategy for dealing with stress (Vecchio 2003). Experiencing stress is a complex phenomenon
complicated to separate mental and bodily experiences into discrete domains (Shiling 1993). Cryer, McCraty and Childre (2003) refer stress to two
simultaneous events: en external stimulus called stressor and the emotional and physical response to that stimulus, (fear, anxiety). Rubenstein and
Sinatra (1998) reinforced that an individual is said to be experiencing stress when he is unable to cope effectively with that

(Effective Time Management Strategies, 2008) As most companies work schedules come out at least a week in advance, a to–do list seems like the
best thing to do. That way the author can have a visual of what needs to be done that week and prepare specific time for study and family activities.
"Good time management has always been an important skill, but it is now increasingly essential, as factors such as information overload and the need
to balance private and working lives have put pressure on managers to squeeze more out of their working day."(University of Phoenix, 2009) Time
management is something you have to work with daily. Sometimes things happen in life that are unavoidable and take up a considerable amount of
time. The author just has to set a schedule and be determined to stick to it.

Reflection Paper On Time Management
DESCRIPTION
Time management is a tool that will aid in becoming a successful student. Time management starts with setting SMART goals. A SMART goal is
Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time–based. Once SMART goals are in place use calendars to get organized. Keep a monthly calendar
somewhere it can easily be seen to write down goals or deadlines. A whiteboard is one suggestion for a monthlycalendar. Colors or symbols can be
used on the calendars to quickly show what is urgent and what can be delegated. Use a weekly calendar and schedule class, study, work, and social
time. When making a weekly calendar follow the rule one hour of lecture time equals 2 hours of study. Following this rule would give a person with
5 classes 30 hours of study time. The calendar created with the schedule will help to create a task list. A task list consists of things that need to be
done now and things that can again be delegated. Setting small goals by month, week and then by the task are the main tools to get organized using time
management.

There are many roadblocks to successful time management. Three of the biggest time squeezers are family, work, and school. Managing all these
things actually begins with prioritizing. You must first focus on getting organized. You can make your life a lot easier by defining where and
when everything is. As a result, you will avoid becoming overwhelmed. Managing your family takes a lot of work and a sensitive nature. You will
have to deal with mood swings, behavior, and just a general attitude. You also need to know your real priorities. If you have a special time or a
special event that you always attend with your family, make that a priority. Let them know that they are special to you. Talk to them and let them
know that you may not be able to be there all the time, but that you will try to be there when it really counts. Camille Wright Miller of the Roanoke
Times offers a simple suggestion, "Act as if your priorities are, in fact, priorities. When you're against deadlines, let others know it. Manage phone
and personal interactions by letting the individuals know you're on a deadline and have limited time." (2001, p. A7) Work is the one of the biggest
places where time management is essential. You may have to juggle many projects and people at the same time. Your first goal should be to set a
realistic timeline for each project. Identify the key elements involved such as: *How the others will be involved *How long will they need to complete
each task *What

Overview of Time Management
Personal Anecdote
The act of time management has been a struggle throughout my life because I haven't always had a conscious choice in my actions. This inability to
manage my time effectively is explained through my diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). "ADHD is a disorder that
comprises a constellation of symptoms including inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity." (Davidson, 2007, p. 628) The way the brain functions for
someone with ADHD affects the perception of time, planning, organisation, working memory, self–regulation, self–efficacy, among others (Davidson,
2007). Even though the way time management may vary for me in my execution, review and analysis of the current literature ... Show more content on

A research study focused on using mental contrasting with implementation intentions (MCII) was successful for time management in effective goal
pursuit and behaviour changes (Oettingen, Kappes, Guttenberg, & Gollwitzer, 2015). Previous studies focus on teaching skills relevant to time
management while this method changes the way you think and believe, thus altering your behaviour which is more sustainable to improving time
management competencies (Oettingen et al., 2015). MCII uses the format of if–then plans such as "If... (obstacle), then I will... (respond to overcome
or circumvent the obstacle)." (Oettingen et al., 2015, p. 219) Since this can be attributed as a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) it will

changes in emotions and behaviours [which is] a therapeutic model focusing on training in methods of time management..." (Davidson, 2007, p. 636)

Time Management in the Business World
It is true that the majority of the time, people learn to manage their time the proverbial hard way (i.e. working late at night, trial and error, barely
meeting deadlines, etc.). The definition of time management can be stated to be the process of both controlling and understanding the time spent on a
variety of activities. Time management is by and large affected by a variety of certain methods, techniques that are utilized to accomplish the goals,
objectives and tasks at a company within a particular time frame. Time management has typically been discussed in business sectors, however, ... Show

While trial and error is typically the best way individuals learn to manage their time better, it becomes all the more important in the business
management setting that time is managed, and managed properly; just not at the expense of the employees, managers and staff.
Description of the Problem
The focus of my research then will be to determine the best strategy (ies) that companies can implement to curtail the issue of time management. What
courses of actions and methods best suit all sectors? While that is a loaded question, as there are many strategies that can be put into motion within
companies and corporations, there is rationale to ascertain that one strategy or two at a minimum can be employed in all areas of business
management (in all sectors). As aforementioned, there are many different courses of action that a company can take in terms of aiding employees and
staff to manage their time better so goals are properly executed.
Stephen Covey (2004), in his book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People stated that time management could be approached from any of his
four categories: first generation, which was noted to be based on timepiece, whose job is alerting individuals that a duty needs to be completed; second
generation, which was more along the lines of planning solely based on setting goals; third generation, which was a prioritization technique utilizing
certain objects daily to elucidate priorities efficiently and fourth

I would help Hector with his procrastination by first off telling him that, he is not in high school anymore, where children do not have to pay for
anything. He is in college where you have to pay for your classes and he cannot afford to be in the mindset of not studying. It will only hurt him if
he fails the classes, then he will have to pay even more money to retake them. I would advise him to get a planner and start using it. By knowing what
he has to accomplish each day, and when assignments/projects/test are on, then he can manage his time more wisely. If he does a little work each day,
then it can lower his stress because he will not be waiting until the last minute to do everything, which is stressful. The nine time management tips from
the chapter that I would incorporate with Hector is telling him that he should make a time chart and designate a certain amount of hours to
homework, sleeping, and exercise. He needs at least 8 hours of sleep, so he would need to block out 8 hours of sleep, knowing that during that block
out time he should be sleeping. Then tell him that he needs to find 30 minutes from his day to do exercise. Exercise will help with relieving stress,

success all–around in life.
Time management is how to handle objectives within the time limit given. Just like a balanced diet, if there is an over excess of one thing it will

Time management is a term that is used to describe ones use of productive time. Time management is all relative to the perception of the task needing
to be accomplished. Is the project long or short term? Is this something that needs to be done in a timeframe? Is this a personal goal or is it a demand
of a superior? Defining time management and applying it to my life has created some questions of how well I succeed as an employee, student,

It appears to be a non–constructive time. I had never thought about setting that time aside to ask myself, "what could I do with that part of my day
to be more efficient?" After consideration, I realized the time I am watching the news, I genuinely was planning my day and creating a detailed
map for each portion of the day. My job is divided into a split shift. The afternoons are spent at work and not with my family doing homework, bath
time and the necessary preparations for the next day. I feel disconnected from that part of my family's day. If I could work less or restructure the
end of my day, then that would create a connection and fulfill my family's needs. When I complete my academic/professional goals and receive my
college diploma then the adjustment in my profession will evolve naturally. To execute my plan efficiently and to become more accountable,
keeping a time log journal and taking personal time to write down my daily map instead of just reviewing it mentally. A visualization of the plan
will help in its execution. Reading the daily map aloud is another way I lock information into my memory. I would like to monitor my success and

Why Time Management Important?
Why is time management important? It is important because it is the basis to begin living a successful life and make your dreams come true. Time
management is defined as effectively using the minutes, hours, and days available to you in order to accomplish your goals in the most effective
way. Time itself can not be managed. It is constant and it always goes forward, never goes backwards, Everyone has the same amount of time in a
day. Therefore, if you are managing time, you are not trying to manipulate time, you are trying to make the best use of your time. For this week, I
spent 18.6% in the school related section. During that time I am at school and staying up late doing homework. I was at work for 17.4% of the week.
For personal time, I spent 14.4% of my time socializing and watching television. In the health–related section I spent 50% of my time eating, showering,
and sleeping. This week was a non–typical week. First of all, we had one day off which was Monday because of Presidents Day. My school related
section would of been a higher percentage if we would have went to school on Monday. Then my health–related section would of had a lower
percentage for sleep because I would have had to waken up earlier for school on Monday, but we did not have school. I also do not work as much as I
did this week. I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This week I worked on Tuesday because I had to cover for someone and on

How Much Time is Spent on Planning?
Entrepreneur.com suggests that the average person should spent at least 30 minutes a day on planning the day. Additionally, the plan should include
prioritizing work that produces the most results for that person. The article also suggests that the savvy time manager actually builds in time for
interruptions.
That said, this same person knows what boundaries to put into place in order to get the most done. That could mean a sign posted on the door that
says, "Do not disturb" to not answering the phone when it rings. In the latter case, the good time manager calls back when the other tasks are done.
Finally, the tasks that give you the most benefit should get time every day. In other words, if you have a big project that's going to make you a
great deal of money plus a lot of smaller ones that won't net you as much, always work some on the big project. This holds true even if the deadline
for the smaller projects is sooner than the big project. This doesn't mean that you'll avoid doing the smaller projects, but that you don't put off working
on the big project because of the size and scope of it. Proper time management will help you allot time for this.

Time Management and its importance in College
"Time is like a sword. If you don't use the sword properly, you may hurt yourself", a famous Arabic proverb. Most of us admit that there is enough

to be a pro in time managing. By being good at time managing, you will have more free time to enjoy life and be successful in your career.
Firstly, I would like to address this issue because many of college students, especially freshmen, struggle in finishing their assignments on time. In my
own experience, I had time organization issues in high school, because I had more than 7 subjects; each subject had three quizzes, two exams, one or
two projects, and a final. In the four years of high school, I have established many habits that made me better as a time manager in college in which I
will further explain.
What is time management? Time management is the way to prosper in life, the way to know yourself, and the way to have more fun. You shouldn't

were told to be then you would fall court martial under article 87 in the UCMJ, which is missing movement. Should you miss movement, you could
face the possibility of being court martialed for being late or not showing up at all. People have also gone to prison for missing movement. When this

If you are told to do something else during the day make sure you can have time to get the job done if not then you can simply ask someone else if
they would be willing to help you with making sure the task at hand will get done when and/or how it needs to be done. When you get asked to do
something, make sure that there is enough time to ensure it is done right the first time because you may not have enough time to accomplish the
task. You will then need to make sure that the next time you are given a task, to manage your time a little bit better because as a soldier you need
to do the task at hand right the first time because you don't want your supervisors going behind you and telling you that you need to do the task
over because you didn't make an effort to do it right the first time. Then when you have to do the tasks over again then you have the risk over going
into the time you had planned on using for the other task that they had you doing. When you cannot make the hit time for one task that was given to
you that because other issues will take place because you failed to do it right the first time. If it is a big task that they want you to do, see if you can
have another soldier to help you out to get the task at hand done. When it's a big task make sure there are breaks that are taking during the task
because you don't want to get over worked and then you can do the task the right way the first time. The things

The Importance Of Success And Time Management

  • 1. The Importance Of Success And Time Management Success and time management are intrinsically intertwined. Time well spent leads to success; time squandered leads to failure. Soft skills are in great demand today and time management is one of the most important skills one needs to master for personal and professional success. In fact it requires time to master all other skills. Its tremendous value is felt but to manage one's time is not an easy task – it needs will and effort to do so. Students, the future professionals, can use a variety of strategies to manage their time for better results. This paper looks at how time plays an important role and suggests some feasible strategies like goal setting, prioritizing, being regular etc. for students to manage their time effectively in order to achieve success. Patrick Forsyth says, "good, effective time management is a core skill, a career skill that we all need both to make us able to perform in a current job and to enhance our career prospects. It is a real differentiating factor...that gives you an edge on other people perhaps of equal ability, but who lack this aspect of self–organization and discipline." (page ix, preface) One of the simple but effective methods is to prepare a 'to do' list i.e. write down all the things that need to be done to prepare for completing assignments, writing exams etc. This can be further improved by listing these items in order of priorities. i.e. items A, B or C. The author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey, states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Time Management Is A Misnomer Time Management In many respects the term time management is a misnomer. After all, it implies that in some way or another we can control time, which is simply impossible to do. Each one of us has exactly the same amount of time in a given day and none of us get a "do over." Some people feel that they are constantly under pressure, going from pillar to post as they try to accomplish what they need to do. They feel that they're constantly under stress and never able to catch up and consequently these people do struggle to achieve what they're trying to achieve and become successful. However, other people seem to march forward relentlessly with their plans and strangely enough never appear to be watching the clock at all. We need to find out what their secret is and what their approach to time management is too. One of the first things that you need to commit to when learning time management is change. You are going to have to look at your entire life in a different light and become very sophisticated when it comes to allocation, delegation and decision–making. You're going to find that your interpretation of time management differs significantly from that of other people. After all, remember that a majority of people with... Critically assess these old systems and don't be afraid to change them. When it comes to old habits, checking e–mail has got to be one of the worst. If you have your e–mail set up so that it automatically delivers new e–mails to you every 30 minutes or so, switch off that automation to start with. Bury the habit of checking your e–mail first thing in the morning and automatically diving into the process of putting out fires associated with incoming e–mail requests. • 3. Time Management Worksheet Time Management Completing the time management worksheet was interesting and somewhat discouraging. I was amazed to see that I have my days literally scheduled out to the hour. I didn't add up my hours until the very end, and had exactly 168 hours scheduled out! Yes, there may be some slight variance from week to week, but this pattern is a pretty standard schedule for my life. I juggle a lot of tasks, and have a lot of practice doing so. The routine, that I implemented in grade school, has helped my mind and body know what to expect. Setting expectations helps strengthen your resolve to stick with the routine, and it gets easier with practice. Since my time management skills were developed at a young age I was able to avoid bad habits such as hitting the snooze button, tardiness, and being unprepared. My parents were fantastic in teaching me these skills when the results were less crucial. Being late or unprepared for grade school has a smaller impact than being late to your job as an adult. Learning these skills as a child is a lot easier than learning as an adult. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only activities I can afford to trim out are the fun ones, and even the discretionary time is minimal! I don't want to lose out on visiting friends and family, or miss my rare and precious lunch breaks in the park. • 4. Time Management Reflection Since I learned how to write the task came relatively easy to me. I have no problem putting my thoughts onto paper or doing the necessary research to give accurate information. However, I struggled with punctuation, run on sentences, sentence fragments, comma splices and most recently to–be verbs. I can get information down easily enough, and I have a good flow to my papers. However, time management and procrastination set potentially A plus papers back a lot. For my research paper "Women's Rights around the World" I procrastinated until the last possible moment to finish it. I had done my research and planning but not the actual writing of it making my paper rushed and unedited. According to Gamauf in his article on time management, "one element that can help you with your time management activities is planning." Just writing what you need to do on your phone or calendar can help you get organized. I would need to sit down after getting the assignment and make a schedule and adhere to that schedule so that I don't write my paper in the middle of the night. I could plan ahead and make an appointment with a tutor along the way to get a fresh pair of eyes on my paper and much–needed advice. I also need to self–analyze "This process requires you to first examine what areas you are struggling with, figure out how you learn best and in what ways you have overcome similar struggles in the past and make the proper decisions to do what is best for you" ("Feeling Overwhelmed?"). ... • 5. My Goals Of The Time Management After taking the time management quiz, I received a total score of seven out of ten. My score of seven reflects good time management skills, however it does state overall it could be improved in minor ways. In regards to the quiz, the first area of improvement would involve to slow down. I do always tend to feel I am in a hurry and rushed to do things. Whether it's in the morning trying to get myself ready for work, getting my son ready for school and out the door, to ensuring I leave work on time to beat traffic and arrive at his aftercare before 6om and have to pay a few. I tend to also feel hurried in the evening as I need to get home, provide dinner for my son before we turn around and back out the door to attend his karate class. A second area of improvement of my time management would be feeling less guilty if I take time for myself and/ or my family instead of completing school work or studying. Although I do purposefully spend time with my family, sometimes I feel that it may end up being too much time, particularly not productive family time. I feel that I may end up spending too much time getting caught up in doing things around the house that I do not put in an adequate amount of time for my school work. This is my first semester back in college after 20 years and I am still in the process of finding a good balance between, work, personal and school life. Lastly, I should try to improve the overall feeling that I work better under pressure. I tend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Time Management In Social Work Social workers, like all workers, fall into harmful patterns and habits that waste too much time in a day. Wasting their time with distractions, having an abundance of caseloads, and being on call for emergency cases are all factors that can cause them to lose track of their time. This is where time management becomes important. The way a social worker manages their time not only affects their job, but it also could result in children being in harmful circumstances for a longer period. Time management in the workplace can be achieved in a proper way to ensure that everything gets done in the correct amount of time. "One drawback is that social workers are generally assigned very large caseloads, and it can be difficult to meet the needs of all of your clients" (5 Time Management Tips, n.d.). I believe helping children and families overcome obstacles is the focus for becoming a social worker, and time management is something that must be done to help each family that is a part of your caseload. Also, figuring out what sidetracks you and prevents you from doing your tasks in a timely manner will help you eliminate those things and perform better. One last thing that can help you manage your time is realizing you simply have too much work, simply ask for help if this occurs. What is time management? According to Laura Stack, time management is traditionally considered a management strictness, but you cannot perform an improved job at it by extending how much time you have. ... So, to if I was, I used the Time Management worksheet form wellcast.com to keep track and analyze for each hour for one day. As each hour passed for that day, I would record the things I have done in that time frame and slowly started to see the time wasters in my day that I was not being productive. When the day ended, I found out that I had five time wasters which I was surprised that they totaled in three hours of time spent on doing literally nothing. Time management techniques typically involve setting goals, establishing priorities, budgeting the amount of time allotted to a given activity, and planning and scheduling the steps needed to achieve goals. Generally, time management refers to the development of processes and tools that increase efficiency and productivity. When we think of time management, we tend to think of personal time management, loosely defined as managing our time to waste less time on doing the things we have to do so we have more time to do the things that we want to do. Examples of Time Wasters are: (i) In fructuous meetings (ii) Poor communication (iii) Unwanted visitors (iv) Disorganised work The basic cause of time wastage at work can be classified as follows: (a) Over–staffing is common cause of wastage of time. Since most of the people do not have clearly defined work for the whole day, they often obstruct each other and create unnecessary problems.
  • 13. (b) Time is wasted on account of faulty organisation of work. Work is not planned sufficiently in advance. (d) Time is often wasted because the relevant information is not readily available or the information available is inaccurate. Similarly collection, storage and distribution of unnecessary information is wasteful. Though one has to evolve one's own technique of time management depending on the circumstances, the three cardinal principles are: (a) Span of Attention: There is a natural limit to how long one can concentrate on a particular activity or task. This is called span of attention. (b) Provisions of time in adequate chunks: If any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Time Management And Its Impact On Students Many students find it hard to manage their time well; whether they are trying to juggle academic responsibilities such as just getting to classes, trying to keep up with the continuous demands of each class like studying, or with trying to complete multiple assignments that have to be completed before the deadline. It can be onerous. Especially, in college, there are so many distractions: different clubs, sports, and other campus activities that you can participate in such LEAD helping the community and the most distracting one of all homecomings and other school events. Time management is the way that you properly use your time by balancing out everything that you have to accomplish. Time management has such an impact on students because without managing your time you would never be able to get any of your tasks done in college. For example, Sam has a big test tomorrow in his English class that he needs to study for. Sam also has a really important project that he must complete as well that counts for forty percent of his grade in his Strategies for Success class. If he poorly manages his time he is unable to dictate enough time to each of his two tasks studying and working on his project to succeed in both classes. As I did research for time management I came across three articles that supported this idea of the importance of time management. One study done by Hafner, Oberst, and Stock (2014) talked about avoiding procrastination through time management. Then the next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Time Management In High School Time Management What would make a student fail a class? There are many reason why someone could fail. Students from every college across the nation struggle with financial problems, transportation, picking the wrong major, etc. A major problem with many students, including myself, is poor time management. Not the most well–known reason to fail a class and is mostly thought of to be a small problem, but it causes smart people to slip up in college a lot. Either it be having a full plate of responsibilities and not having enough time for school or just pure procrastination, it can very easily lead someone to flunk a college course. With most students it's that they don't make good study habits in high school and it carries into college. Students don't bother with planning out their time and wait till the last minute to study for an exam or to finish an essay. This may have worked sometimes in high school, but in college it is impossible to be successful with horrible habits with the workload students receive in college compared to high school. In "The Student Fear Factor" Melanie says "I never realized how fast college would be, comparing one year of high school with one semester of college. It's really fast pace." (Cox 24). • 16. Notes On Time Management And Stress Time management and stress are directly correlated to an extent. Based on what I have read and experienced, lacking the ability to manage time will result in higher levels of stress. According to Nonis, Hudson, Logan, and Ford (1998), "[Having] perceived control of time [can be] a stress–coping strategy with particular emphasis on three key student outcomes: academic performance, problem–solving ability, and heath" (588–589). In other words, having the perception that you manage your time well, will actually result in lower stress levels. Time management issues such as procrastination, can influence the way you perceive your time management skills. Based on research done by Nonis et al., you do not necessarily have to manage your time well to be less stressed, you just have to believe that you manage your time well. Although it may be harder to be confident in your time management skills if you procrastinate, it is still possible to manage time poorly and still be less stressed than someone who actually does manage their time well. Because how you perceive the way you manage time and how you actually manage your time are directly related, it can be assumed that time management and stress go together hand–in–hand. Throughout high school and what I have experienced so far in college, I can honestly say that I have dealt with issues of learning to manage time and stress. If you don't know how to multi–task, I suggest you learn how to do it. The ability to multi–task will serve you well. I completed a few online tests while breastfeeding at the same time. The key was to be fully prepared and have everything I needed to complete the test in front of me. I discovered I could get a lot of stuff done at the same time with a little bit of creativity. I'm convinced that moms are the most creative people on the planet. It's amazing what we can come up with when our backs are against the wall. • 20. Effects Of Time Management On Stress Time Management and its effect on stress level. Abstract: Time as a precious resource requires proper planning at the time of spending on various things. The proper planning of time is called Time Management by which the right time is allocated to the right work. Author of the present paper attempted to find out the effects of timemanagement on other variables and attributes of peoples. For this purpose, a number of prominent studies undertaken between 1990 and 2010 were analysed. More or less, all studies which were reviewed reported salubrious effect of time management on the stress level. Keywords: Time Management, Stress, Effects, Male and Female. We always hear people speaking about time management and importance of it. Time management is allocation of time according to importance of work. In another words, allocation of the right quantity of time to the right work is time management. In order to find out the effects that can have the time management on the other variables especially the stress level of peoples, some major studies from 1990 to 2010 have been reviewed. Macan et al. (1990) [1] done a study on 165 students to find out the effects of time management on students' stress, self perception of performance and Grade Point Average (GPA). Their study revealed major findings. One of the most predictive independent factors of Time Management Behaviour scale was perceived control of time [1]. Students reported significantly higher evaluations of their performance, much work and life satisfaction, least role ambiguity, least role overload and fewer job caused tensions, who perceived control of their time [1]. An eventful study undertaken by Britton et al. (1991) [2] tested the hypothesis that college Grade Point Average (GPA) would be predicted by time management practices. In that study 90 college students were participated. As a result of the study it was concluded that time management practices may influence college achievements [2]. Don 't Waste Time With Time Management Don 't Waste Time With Time Management By Laura Ashley–Timms Nov 24, 2011 We 've all heard of the concept of Time Management, but how many of us would claim that we have really mastered it? How do you succeed at managing your time? There is more to it than simply having and following a schedule, as anybody who has tried this approach knows. Trying to organise what you already do in a day to fit into a smaller space of time will not be possible simply because you type it up and print it out as an itinerary or write it down in a planner. For this reason we talk instead about Time Leverage, a more practical approach to making sure that your time is being used as effectively as possible. Time is a restricted resource. Some companies may have bigger start–up funds or a better network of potential clients, but everybody is gifted the same amount of time in a day. Planning how to use the time you are given should not be a matter of working through a to–do list as fast as you possibly can. Whilst this may make you super efficient, it may not be moving you towards your goals. For instance, you may be incredibly organised in checking your mail and emails daily, with a small or empty inbox, but if you never find a moment to email or call a potential new client or an important contact, you simply remain static, performing tasks which will not move you closer to your or your organisation 's goals. • 29. Reflection Paper On Time Management DESCRIPTION Time management is a tool that will aid in becoming a successful student. Time management starts with setting SMART goals. A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time–based. Once SMART goals are in place use calendars to get organized. Keep a monthly calendar somewhere it can easily be seen to write down goals or deadlines. A whiteboard is one suggestion for a monthlycalendar. Colors or symbols can be used on the calendars to quickly show what is urgent and what can be delegated. Use a weekly calendar and schedule class, study, work, and social time. When making a weekly calendar follow the rule one hour of lecture time equals 2 hours of study. Following this rule would give a person with 5 classes 30 hours of study time. The calendar created with the schedule will help to create a task list. A task list consists of things that need to be done now and things that can again be delegated. Setting small goals by month, week and then by the task are the main tools to get organized using time management. Managing all these things actually begins with prioritizing. You must first focus on getting organized. You can make your life a lot easier by defining where and when everything is. As a result, you will avoid becoming overwhelmed. Managing your family takes a lot of work and a sensitive nature. You will have to deal with mood swings, behavior, and just a general attitude. You also need to know your real priorities. If you have a special time or a special event that you always attend with your family, make that a priority. Let them know that they are special to you. Talk to them and let them know that you may not be able to be there all the time, but that you will try to be there when it really counts. Camille Wright Miller of the Roanoke Times offers a simple suggestion, "Act as if your priorities are, in fact, priorities. When you're against deadlines, let others know it. Manage phone and personal interactions by letting the individuals know you're on a deadline and have limited time." (2001, p. Description of the Problem The focus of my research then will be to determine the best strategy (ies) that companies can implement to curtail the issue of time management. What courses of actions and methods best suit all sectors? While that is a loaded question, as there are many strategies that can be put into motion within companies and corporations, there is rationale to ascertain that one strategy or two at a minimum can be employed in all areas of business management (in all sectors). As aforementioned, there are many different courses of action that a company can take in terms of aiding employees and staff to manage their time better so goals are properly executed. He is in college where you have to pay for your classes and he cannot afford to be in the mindset of not studying. It will only hurt him if he fails the classes, then he will have to pay even more money to retake them. I would advise him to get a planner and start using it. By knowing what he has to accomplish each day, and when assignments/projects/test are on, then he can manage his time more wisely. If he does a little work each day, then it can lower his stress because he will not be waiting until the last minute to do everything, which is stressful. The nine time management tips from the chapter that I would incorporate with Hector is telling him that he should make a time chart and designate a certain amount of hours to homework, sleeping, and exercise. He needs at least 8 hours of sleep, so he would need to block out 8 hours of sleep, knowing that during that block out time he should be sleeping. Then tell him that he needs to find 30 minutes from his day to do exercise. Exercise will help with relieving stress, while maintaining weight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Time management is all relative to the perception of the task needing to be accomplished. Is the project long or short term? Is this something that needs to be done in a timeframe? Is this a personal goal or is it a demand of a superior? The afternoons are spent at work and not with my family doing homework, bath time and the necessary preparations for the next day. I feel disconnected from that part of my family's day. If I could work less or restructure the end of my day, then that would create a connection and fulfill my family's needs. To execute my plan efficiently and to become more accountable, keeping a time log journal and taking personal time to write down my daily map instead of just reviewing it mentally. A visualization of the plan will help in its execution. Reading the daily map aloud is another way I lock information into my memory. Therefore, if you are managing time, you are not trying to manipulate time, you are trying to make the best use of your time. For this week, I spent 18.6% in the school related section. During that time I am at school and staying up late doing homework. I was at work for 17.4% of the week. For personal time, I spent 14.4% of my time socializing and watching television. In the health–related section I spent 50% of my time eating, showering, and sleeping. This week was a non–typical week. First of all, we had one day off which was Monday because of Presidents Day. My school related section would of been a higher percentage if we would have went to school on Monday. Then my health–related section would of had a lower percentage for sleep because I would have had to waken up earlier for school on Monday, but we did not have school. I also do not work as much as I did this week. I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. A study conducted in Taiwan about how retirees use their free time found that the retirees were happier and more satisfied with their days when their time was scheduled.
