Benefit Of Ocean Exploration
Astonishingly, Did you know that we have better maps of the moon than we do of the ocean? It's true! Scientists are working to make drones to
explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a developing science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology. Ocean Exploration
technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring
the deep sea.
First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade. In the past, people had to bring everything needed for
scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds of gear and photographing technology. Now, all you need is the drone and an ocean. There are
many things needed for scuba diving. Such as, oxygen tanks and diving gear that also cost lots of money. With drones, ocean exploration will be
much cheaper and faster than scuba divers ever have been. (#2) According to a journalist, Kimberly Pierceall, from Military Times, from her article
'Researchers Want To Use Drones For Ocean Floor Exploration' She said that, "..They (Scientists) hope (12 research drones) will survey the deepest
parts of the ocean faster – and cheaper – than anyone has done before" (Pierceall, 2017). This evidence proves that with new developing ocean
technology, exploring will be cheaper and faster than it ever has before. This is a benefit to society because researchers will be able to explore vast
amounts of the

Essay about The Subculture of Scuba Divers
The focus of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics, and history regarding the subculture of scuba divers. Scuba divers
get to explore new, exciting, and breathtaking regions in the ocean that many people never get to experience in their whole lives. Scuba divers hold
important roles in society because of the discoveries they make on a daily basis. They provide much needed research that is important in the scientific
community regarding newly discovered marine species. Scuba divers get the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean features that include
shipwrecks, coral reefs, and other stunning tropical ocean regions. Many people find scuba diving an enjoyable leisure activity to be involved ... Show

As time progressed, the equipment that was used for scuba diving began to be perfected, and many workout clubs began featuring classes to train
people how to dive (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). This allowed scuba diving to become a leisure activity that anyone could engage in (Ed LaRochelle,
2009). Jacques Cousteau was a famous scuba diver who made many discoveries, including many new innovative tools and equipment such as the
aquatic lung (Ryan Spence, 2010). He also produced over 100 television episodes discussing the different aspects of scuba diving along with his
new inventions (Ryan Spence, 2010). Sylvia Earle was another recognizable person in the field of scuba diving (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). She
was a famous figure because she was the first person ever to dive to two hundred and fifty feet breathing compressed air in a Jim Suit, and she
broke many records for deepest dives in submersibles (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). Thirdly, Augustus Siebe created a diving suit that included a copper
helmet and rubber material for a more flexible suit (John Bantin, 2007). This invention by Siebe allowed divers to dive to deeper depths into the
ocean and explore more wrecks and ocean features (John Bantin, 2007). Jacques Cousteau once said, "Innovation is nothing more than the tool of the
explorer... If you need something, you make it" (Ryan Spence, 2010: 12). These explorers helped shape

Springboard Diving As A Discourse Community
Springboard Diving as a Discourse Community
The world of diving has been around since the 1800's and has been seen at the Olympic games since 1904. It first started off being called
"fancy–diving" where the aim was to plunge into the water and see who could achieve the furthest depth underwater. It then progressed and became
more complex involving specific skills and dives which first only men were allowed to participate in, and later women came into the society. To this
day, diving is one of the most popular events watched at the Olympic games; however this community remains small and structured because of its
intricate characteristics ("History of Diving", 1). Diving has been influenced by the constant updating of technology and is incorporated in this world
through high schools, colleges and universities as well as numerous sporting events that occur around the world. A theorist named John Swales
analyzes communities in more detail and states that communities continue to develop and change throughout the years and further calls these
communities, discourse communities.
John Swales defines a discourse community as "a group of people involved in and communicating about a particular topic, issue, or in a particular
field" (Swales, 215). He specifies a discourse community through academics; however, there are countless discourse communities worldwide that can
be perceived. Swales also analyzes a speech community, and how a discourse community and speech community are two

Swimming is an ancient activity that has taken place since both water and humans were on the earth. Around 10,000 years ago humans found
prehistoric evidence of recreational swimming on Stone Age paintings. Books such as the Iliad, The Odyssey and the bible all include references of
swimming. Around 1830 in England swimming started to become a popular recreational activity. By the time 1837 rolled around the National
Swimming Society held six different competitions around London.
In 1875 captain Matthew Webb was the first person to swim the English Channel. He completed the swim using the breaststroke technique for 21.26
miles. This record would not be broken for another 36 years. In the year 1896 men's swimming became part of the first modern Olympic Games.
The first European swimming competitions were in 1889 in Vienna. The world's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around this time color people would not be allowed to swim in public pools. Most colored people did not know how to swim. White people made
up stories that colored people could not swim because of the way their bodies worked. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act opened swimming pools to all
people.
The Olympic athlete I chose was Michael Phelps. I chose Michael Phelps because he is one of the top swimmers on the world and he was won
many medals. Michael Fred Phelps was born on June 30, 1985. He was raised by his mother Debbie and his father Michael in Towson, Maryland.
At the age of 7 Phelps began swimming. Phelps began to train at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. His coach was Bob Bowman. At a young age
Phelps was diagnosed with ADHD. When he was only fifteen years old he broke the world record for the 200 meter butterfly. In the Olympics, Phelps
has won more than 33 metals and over 26 of them being gold.
In April 2014, Phelps announced that he would come out of retirement. In May of 2014 he won the 100 meter butterfly event at the Arena grand Prix in

Personal Narrative : A Personal Experience On My Life
I was four years old as I was being pushed in a stroller onto the Clovis West pool deck and I knew just about what I had come for. I had been
begging my mom, ever since I saw my big sister swim, to let me swim like the big kids. I remember how confident I was standing behind that
block, knowing almost as it was my destiny to be in this sport. I hear the starter tell us, " take your mark" and in that moment I knew, this is where I
belong. Little did I know twelve years later I would be sitting here in my room writing how one small sport made such an impact on my life.
I was ten years old when my parents and coaches really noticed I had a gift in this sport. There was always something I loved about feeling the cool
crisp water in between my fingers and toes as I kicked and pulled for hours upon end, six days a week for six years straight. Most people thought I was
crazy swimming and going to swim practice when it was just above freezing temperature outside. The cold never stooped me though, it always
made me more amped to get out there and train knowing my other competitors did not show because they said it was too cold. At the end of short
course season we had driven to our western championships where I was ranked fairly high. I sat behind the block shivering, not because I was cold,
but because my poor ten year old body was full of anxiety. I go up for my race and shake it off and forget it all, reminding myself who I was and why I
was there. I finish my race, look up at

Personal Narrative: Why I Became A Certified Scuba Diver
Over the summer I became a certified Scuba Diver. I still remember how I was so filled with joy when I passed. It wasn't easy but I did it. I was so
happy because it was my birthday present and because of my happiness we drove to the dive shop that day and got the paperwork. One of the main
things I had to pass was a ten hour test about scuba diving and get higher than a 80%. It was apparently made for 8th graders, but it was really hard
for me. I received an A and the feeling was like a thousand fireworks exploding around me.
The week after the test we went to a public pool ( a school) that went down nine feet under water, but first we had to assemble, disassemble, and then
reassemble five times in a row. The hardest part of diving is handeling

Explain What Role Did Your Race Class Or Gender Play In...
Did you learn to swim as a child? If so, ask your parents why they made sure you learned to swim. If you did not, ask your parents why you never
learned to swim. What role (if any) did your race, class, or gender play in you learning or not learning to swim as a child? As a child I never learned
how to swim, but I was always so fascinated by swimmers. My mother said that learning to swim was just never a priority for us. I think the role race
played in my case was, since I am hispanic other sports were more followed. Like for example I grew up playing soccer, I was part of a soccer team up
until 8th grade. I was brought into what could be seen as the sport of Latinos. At a young age, swimming around me was never talked about as a sport
or competition. It was seen as a pastime or to simply learn.

a role in this one because I always had access to a pool. I have lived near a pool for about 10 years now, and I have never gone to that one. The pool is
open to the public, and for a good price. So basically anyone can enter and have fun or swim in the lanes. Swimming was something I just didn't have

Idaho Swimming Research Paper
The Sanctioning of Swimming in Idaho My senior paper is a subject that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It is something that
I've loved from the very beginning all the way to the very end. I'm taking about competitive swimming. But I'm going to be talking about something
different with swimming that's probably not expected, I'm instead talking about getting it to be a sanctioned sport in Idaho. See, swimming in Idaho is
not considered a real sport, but instead a club, and personally, I wanted to see swimming, the activity that I've loved, become a legitimate sport for
future generations of kids to enjoy. This paper covers the main reasons why I wanted swimming to be a sanctioned sport, the steps it took to get it
sanctioned, and finally, actually making it a sanctioned sport in Idaho this year. This paper begins with my own existing knowledge of swimming,
followed by questions that I wanted to find out in my research that were answered in my paper. It then gets into my research and what I found out
while conducting my senior paper. After that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I remember training the training was extensive and tough. It was honestly one of the hardest things that I've ever trained for in my life. And in my
mind I really saw swimming in my mind and heart as a true sport in this state. And as the years went on I realized that swimming started to become
a more popular sport in this state. I also realized that swimming followed a lot of the same regulations that other sports in the state did that were
already sanctioned. Such as, having equal opportunity participation for both boys and girls. So, I knew personally what I had to do you make sure
the friends that I made on the team got what they deserved. And when I heard that they were going to make the vote to sanction swimming this year, I
knew that I had to pursue it so that the future generations of swimmers could really enjoy swimming as a real sport as much as I had tried when I was

Doping is a Fool’s Game
All athletes of all sports on a professional level must be required to undergo drug testing for performance enhancing drugs prior to participating in any
sporting event to ensure an equal level playing field for all competing athletes, no matter the sport. Furthermore, performance enhancing drugs are
illegal and must remain this way in order to keep fairness in the competitive world of sports.
The bottom line is that athletes should not be able to do performance enhancing drugs and continue to be allowed to performance in these sports. The
unfairness of doing these drugs does not allow for a fair game. Ultimately, these cheating athletes are superior in the field and dominate the other
athletes that do not take steroids and how can you call that a fair game when the athletes are not equal in performance due to a enhancing drug.
To further the argument, performance enhancing drugs must remain against the law to protect the athlete's health and well being. If today's athletes are
going to be so careless and take these drugs, we as a society must step in and take control of what these athletes are putting in their bodies. And if they
continue to break the law by taking performance enhancing drugs, then they must suffer the consequences by possibly being banned from the sport for
an extended period of time or a lifetime ban, which is would a result of their salaries and livelihood, endorsements and possible prison time. We must
take this issue with more than a grain

Anthony Mulcahy
Introduction:
Swimming upstream is a film directed by Russell Mulcahy which was based in the early 1950's. The film was produced in 2003 and is based on a
boy named Tony Fingleton a young man from a troubled family who found the inner strength to become a champion. Always overshadowed in his
father's eyes by his brothers. The only way Tony feels about winning his father's heart is by his extraordinary swimming talent. Tony and his father
(Harold snr) have a very unhealthy relationship as Tony struggled to get his father's approval or even be an applaud for doing something good in his life.
The purpose of my film was to tell my audience about a boy who enjoyed playing the piano, reading books and being successful at school. While trying

problems with his father throughout the film from Harold Snr disliking him playing the piano to getting beaten but by his older brother Harold
Jnr to then achieving something but still not getting any type of applaud from his father. Harold Snr then separated Tony from his brother/best
friend John when it came to swimming practice which pulled Tony and John further away from each other as they were both each other's support
when it came to competition shown in the scene where Tony was looking around for John to do their handshake they did before every race which
then made him not perform to his best and made him loose to his brother. Tony then went further in his swimming as he was very talented. As Tony
went to say goodbye to his father before heading off to Harvard university Harold Snr didn't have an interest in saying goodbye he basically just
shrugged him off, Tony didn't know what to do as he had tried everything to just get his father to love him for who he was and what he achieves.
This developed Tony into more of a stronger hearted boy who grew up to be a champion in the rest of his families eyes especially

Diving : A Window Of An Unexplored World
DIVING: A Window to an Unexplored World Mankind has always been very curious about the ocean and its secrets. In the past centuries,
countless numbers of inventions and experiments have been made in an attempt to maximize the time that a person can stay underwater. Thanks
to a device called the aqualung, invented in 1943 by Jacques Cousteau, people were able to dive down and explore the ocean with his/her own air
source without the need to be connected to an air source at the surface. Eventually, this lead to the formation of a subculture around the sport, with
many divers around the world exploring the world's oceans. There are many reasons to be a part of this subculture. I interviewed Luke Inman, a
successful Instructor Trainer for the Professional Association of Dive Instructors, and an avid filmmaker and photographer who constantly works
with the BBC, Discovery Networks, National Geographic, & Animal Planet, and after asking him what rituals or practices a person must do to
become part of this subculture, he answered: "You have to have a love for the ocean, you have to love fish". You also need to take a Scuba course.
This course is called an Open Water Diver course (or OWD for short); this will be the diver's first certification. It teaches you about atmospheric
pressure, how your body is affected underwater, the risks of diving, and how easy they are to evade by following simple procedures. After the diver

Personal Narrative Essay About Swimming
And She Swam Happily Ever After . . .
The sport of swimming has not always been in my life. My interest in swimming came about when I moved to Grand Haven in middle school. The
reason I became interested in it was simple enough, the first person I met from Grand Haven that went to my new school was an avid, as well as
especially talented, swimmer. While I cannot remember exactly why this was enough to convince me to try something completely new in a brand new
school with brand new people, I can look back on my choice to start swimming as an important moment.
Ironically enough, when I was younger I despised swimming lessons. My parents tell me that when I was around three I cried and carried on

Really, swimming is a sport that is largely based on the hard work of each individual swimmer, but when it comes down to it, every swimmer has
to have a support system to be successful. This last season of high school swimming demonstrated the importance of being a team to me. When it
came down to the final weeks of the season, being a team began to matter more and more. The last weeks of swimming are key to a swimmer's
success at Conference. As we get close to the Conference meet we begin to taper, where yardage slowly goes down, but you swim at more of a
race pace and have longer to rest. During this part of the season we emphasize staying close as a team because it boosts the team's mindset, which
is a significant contributing factor to swimming well. Supporting each other as a team meant having team get togethers, dinners, and helping each
other feel positive about how we were going to swim at Conference. Two weeks later at the Conference meet I had my best races ever. I dropped
more than seven seconds off of my best race, the 100 breaststroke, and dropped four to ten plus more seconds in my other events as well. Since
swimming is a sport where success is so largely based on the mindset you have when training and competing, having a team full of friends and coaches
to support me lead to my great end–of–season success. Throughout my training to this day, I always remember that yes, it is important to work

The waves were tauntingly calm that day, after the hurricane of fast–paced incidents that uprooted John's life from the very beginning. He didn't think
he would have changed it, even if he had a choice. He pulled his brimmed hat further over his droopy eyes and squirmed into a more comfortable
position on the makeshift hammock, recalling the very first day.
John had found himself conflicted. His hands tugged through his rapidly greying hair, peppered areas of darkness disappearing more and more each

They laughed, and grappled playfully, daring each other to venture close to the weathered man, gathering the courage to venture close enough so that
John could see the dry salt in their scraggly hair. The elders watched on carefully from the sanctuary of their homes, exuding mild hostility. John was
unaffected. He had a solid goal in mind, pulsing with determination.
John pulled on his diving equipment but with every turn of his back, he heard frantic scuttling and finding the source, he was met with the sight of a
retreating back kicking up sand and a handful of tropical fruits left on his bag. After a while, the pile grew into a small mountain, strays rolling on the
sand. It was distracting and he was annoyed.
The first dive was a test dive. A warm–up. When he resurfaced, only two children remained seated next to his bag, helping themselves to the fruits.
They watched him trudge back up shore, squealing as he shook water out of his hair. They crept closer and prodded his diving gear with sticky fingers.
He attempted to look irritated, but their pure and innocent, if not mischievous, curiosity reminded him of his beloved niece.
He decided he needed something more thrilling than a simple test dive. Tailed by the children, he eyed the dangerous rocky areas, further away from
calmer waters. As he prepared to swim again, the

In the early 1920s, racing suits were made of silk, which was much lighter and more comfortable than the more popular knitted wool suits, but they
were considerably more expensive (BBC News. BBC, 03 Aug. 2004. Web. 06 Sept. 2015). As years went on, racing suits became increasingly
streamline, stylish, and moderately affordable with materials like nylon and Lycra, a modern and extremely effective compression fabric. In the early

Who Is Michael Phelps A Hero
Michael Phelps is one of the most decorated Olympic athletes in the world. Many people look at him as a hero, but he did not have an easy life. Early
on, his parents' divorce had a profound impact on him, giving him nightmares that were very upsetting. After winning eight gold medals at the Athens

His ability to admit he had problems and making himself vulnerable enabled him to overcome his weaknesses and return to sports.

Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports
The two things that most attract me to Wellesley are the Chandler Pool and the Lulu Campus Center.
Sportsmanship is one of my defining characteristics. Having been swimming for the past three years, the eight–lane professional Chandler Pool at
Wellesley attracts me deeply. Swimming has both strengthened my perseverance and given me the spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship. I enjoy
the feeling of racing in the water, pushing myself to the finish line. Swimming has given my body power, developed my deep thinking skills, and, most
importantly, made me into a leader. As the captain of the swimming team at myhigh school, I have had tough moments leading the team, because most
of my teammates are more senior than I and I am also an international student. But a loud voice without any action won't win over team members. I
changed the situation by working harder and improving my communication skills. I practice longer hours than any other team member., and became
the fastest one in the team, although I am not the most physically fit. I volunteered to swim the 500 yards freestyle and fought for my team to make the
state meet. I constantly practice my communication skills and improve my English. Instead of giving direct orders to team members, I help and care
for my team members. During my two–week medical leave, although my doctor advised me to stay at home and rest, I went to the swimming pool,
helping the coach keep time, cheering for my team and handing them water and towels.

Marco Polo Research Paper
Some kids just go to the pool in the summer to play a game of Marco Polo. Andie Ryan Round was not one of those kids. The pool was a place of great
triumph, as well as defeat, to the now 19–year–old Pepperdine sophomore – at least it used to be. The echoes of a cheering crowd in the chlorine–filled
air are now a distant memory. Attempting to find herself while also battling anxiety and depression, and nearly losing her mother to breast cancer
allowed Round to rekindle her relationship with God and become the woman that she is today. When she was about 3 months old, Round's father put
her in a pool, leaving her with the option to either sink or swim. It was from this point on that Andie found her home in the pool. "From the age of...

On top of that, she had just been diagnosed with cancer," Round recounts. Fortunately, her mother's doctors were able to successfully remove all signs
of cancer from her breast tissue. Through it all, Round has been able to rely on God as a source of comfort and support through trying times. After
much soul–searching, Round came to terms with all the hardships she's faced after spending a month at Kanakuk, a Christian sports camp in
Branson, MO. "I feel like a lot of people believe that you can kind of pray depression away. I don't believe that. I believe that a beautiful gift He
gave us is the brains of brilliant doctors that can make these medicines that will help me," Round explains. According to boyfriend Ethan Eldridge,
sophomore film studies major at Loyola University in Chicago, IL, Round has only become "more mature, optimistic, intelligent, strong, creative, and
loving" since the two met in April of 2014. "I have known Andie for about 10 years now, and for the first time since we reconnected freshman year of
college, I saw God through her and realized how incredible she is," states Anna Reikhof, former teammate and sophomore sports medicine

Marco Polo Persuasive Essay
There is nothing quite like spending a hot summer day in the pool. Not only is it a great way to cool off, but spending time in a pool can be very
fun. There are also a lot of fun games that you can play in the pool. Below is a list of some of the games that both children and adults will enjoy:
Marco Polo
This is one of the most popular pool games of all time. It is very simple to play a game of Marco Polo. One person must cover his or her eyes while
the others scatter around the pool. The person who has his or her eyes covered must try to find the other players by listening to the sound of their
voices and the splashing. This person can yell out "Marco" and the other players will respond by saying "Polo." When the person catches a player,
this player must cover their eyes and try to find the other people.

This person will have to stand in the middle of the pool. The other players will have to swim around the pool in order to avoid being tagged. The
person who is tagged will have to hold hands with the person who is "It." Both players will try to swim around and tag the remaining players. The
game continues until all of the players have been tagged.
Diving For Pennies
This is a very fun and simple game that everyone will enjoy. One person needs to toss some coins at the bottom of the pool. Everyone dives in the
pool in order to catch as many pennies as they can. The person who is able to catch the most pennies will be the winner.
Handstand Holds
Handstands are even more fun when you do them in the water. People should try to perform handstand holds for as long as they can. The person who
manages to hold the handstand the longest without falling over will be the winner.

Personal Narrative-Swim Analysis
"Take your mark, set, go!" Instead of diving swiftly into the pool and making no noise, I belly flopped so hard that I splashed the other swimmers
on my side. Embarrassed and physically hurt, I couldn't stop because I had a race to complete and a time to beat. Kicking as fast as I could and
breathing after every stroke, I swam my heart out. Even though I was the last person to touch the wall, I was satisfied because I had just beat my
personal record. I'm not an Olympic swimmer and I don't have the fastest times, but I do love the sport. In ninth grade, my school required all
freshmen to take a swim test in order to determine whether or not to put those students in the swim class. I passed, but I took the class anyways because

Now that you know you need to replace your pool fencing, you are presented with a range of different materials to consider. Glass, timber, and

Here are three reasons to help convince you that switching over to glass pool fencing is a lot safer that you may have previously thought. Glass
Fencing Is Reliable Glass that is used to make pool fencing may give the appearance of being fragile, and you may have concerns that the weight of a

My Fear Of Fear
Every day, we tend to base our actions on fear. We are afraid of getting poor. We are afraid of getting old. We are afraid of being criticized. We are
even afraid of death! When we come up against something new or different, we become uncomfortable and nervous. This causes us to pause and
evaluate our options. Indecision crystallizes into doubt and the blending of these two results in fear. This is where disconnects occur. We tend to rely
on "gut feelings" to make decisions. So, of course, we stop dead in our tracks and choose NOT to take that next, scary step. That's when fear masters
you.
I have been dealing with unfounded fears of fear. It was all started when I learned swimming. I was in the elementary school. I practiced at the
Bulungan Sport Arena. It is about 15 kilometers away from my house, but only 2 kilometers away from my mother's office. So, my mother can easily
check on me whenever she wants.
At the beginning of the training, the coach introduced us to the training methods. In the first month, we will occupy the shallow pool to get us
comfortable with the water. After that, we will move to the deep pool to applied swimming styles, as well. All went well until my mum came to my
last session in the shallow pool.

swim was very high. Then, I asked my mother's permission for swimming. She was let me, but with one condition: do not swim in the deep pool, so I
would not get drowned. In the next decades, I spent my life rock–style swimming in a shallow pool, until my friend introduced me to

Swimming Competitively Over The Past 11 Years

training. As you can imagine, this required me to developed my time management skills because I have had to carefully plan to complete my school

Is death meant to be the end of everything? Or is it the beginning of something new? I worked as a Rescue Scuba Diver in my country. This job
made me think a lot about the meaning of death. It doesn't mean that life will become sadness and full of darkness, but it might be the opposite.
When we lose someone special in our life is not like losing everything. It might be a new chapter in our life. The first time I saw dead body front of
me, I learned that death of a loved one hurts but it makes a person stronger. I was only twenty years old when I got my license as a master scuba
diver. I was so happy and so excited, jumping around my parent's house. I was telling everyone that I can be able to save people in the sea. I felt
like I won the lottery. I even asked my mom to slap me to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. I started to work as a lifeguard at the beach in Jubail
were I grow up. I worked every day from 2 pm until 8 pm at night. I enjoyed every moment of my time at the beach. I was playing with everyone
who comes to the beach. Sometimes people bring some snacks and drinks for me. I created many games to play with the kids. At the same time, I
was paying attention to everything around me. I even taught some of the kids how to swim. I was really enjoying doing that because I'm helping
others with the things that I love which are swimming and diving. I give them some exercises for their lags first and then we will use the arms before
going to the water.

As far back as I can trace my memories I remember that as a child I always liked to be in the water. Swimming pools were my absolute favorite.
Wherever I went, I would always ask if there was a swimming pool. However, things changed when my parents took me to Florida for the first time.
When I looked out onto the ocean my parents told me that the first words that came out of my mouth were, "Look mom, dad it's a huge swimming pool

While trudging through the isles, thinking to myself that I did not have any idea what to do, a big, light blue book caught my eye. It was sticking
out a lot farther than the others because it was so big. I looked at the title and it said, Ocean: The World's Last Wilderness Revealed. I grabbed it
and opened it up. I began flipping through the pages, when suddenly it hit me. Why don't I do my paper on the ocean? Unfortunately, no matter
how good of any idea it was at the time or how excited I got at that very moment that maybe I had found a topic, I realized that it was way entirely
too broad. I continued looking through the book when I agreed with myself that I would pick something that's in the ocean as my topic. I decided
to check out the book and placed it on the counter for the library workers to check me out. I looked at the cover and saw that close to a dozen
jellyfish were pictured on the front. I carried the book back to a table and flipped to the pages where the different kinds of jellyfish were. I read the
description to all of the different types and the last one I read was the Box Jellyfish. It is the jellyfish that has a fatal sting. I knew that jellyfish stung
people, but I did not know that this one has the fatal venom in its sting. I remembered back to the trip my mother and I took to California to see my

Death Came Knocking on my door
Death came knocking on my door one September afternoon. My best friend Ashley was throwing a under the sea themed birthday party. Every day
in school Ashely, Kate, Brooke and I we would all talk about the party. "I can't wait for your party. I think we should have face painting, games and
Karaoke" I said. "How can you have a under the sea party without a pool" Ashely replied. "Yea that's right" Brooke added. I kept quiet. I didn't say
anything. I didn't want the girls to know I couldn't swim. When my mother heard swimming was going to be involved she was reluctant to let me go.
I cried and begged for her to let me go. "Alright I will go with you. I'm working later so your dad will come and get you when the party is over" my
mom said. The day came for Ashely's party. I was so excited to have fun with my friends. My mother and I went to Walmart. "What present do you
want to give Ashely?" my mom asked. "Hmmm I'll just give her a mermaid Barbie doll" I replied. We pushed the cart and headed for the toy isle. I
put the mermaid Barbie doll in the cart. "Alright let's get your swimsuit so we can leave" my mom said. I picked a pink sparkly swimsuit. We went to
the line to check out. "I forgot your floaties stay here in line let me get them" my mom said. She came back with pink floaties. We bought everything
then we started heading to Ashely's house.

There are two types of pressure gauges for determining the amount of air in a scuba cylinder. A surface cylinder pressure gauge is used to check the
amount of air in the cylinder above water. It attaches to the cylinder valve in the same manner as a regulator to provide a one–time check of cylinder
pressure. A bleed valve relieves trapped pressure so the gauge can be removed when the cylinder valve has been closed.
Dive Computers may allow longer dive times because they compensate for time spent at varying depths throughout a dive compared to the "square"
dive profiles required for the use of most tables.
A compressor operates on the principle of Boyle's Law – reducing the volume increases the pressure. The air is compressed in stages.

Psychology Of Fear
Many individuals would agree that at least one thing terrifies them. In fact, there is a whole television series based on what strange phobias people

People often wonder what causes a fear. One unique theory as to why these fears develop, is that they are the effect of a traumatic event that took

It was turning dark, starting to rain and shadows were cast all over the cemetery. The only light was from the headlights of the car we came in.

my parents were promised when they moved in. The year my parents built a new home in Grey Oaks, I was four years old. Now, I am seventeen and

What Is Tony's Identity In Swimming Up Mainstream
Jawed Atahi S3544141
Swimming Upstream directed by Russell Mulcahy portrays a story about a young man who loves to swim and tries to go to Olympic and to be an
Australian Champion. The film illustrates Tony's journey from childhood to an adult. Throughout the film Tony's journey is being focused in achieving
his fathers attention and love. On another level the film depicts a story about a father who haven't achieved his own dream but to uses his sons to
accomplish his dream that he never reached. Russel shows how an alcoholic father is dominating a family. Russel also shows how the film can be seen
as an exploration of Australian masculinity.
Historical Background

him in a downfall. Dora is being seen as a wife who believes his family comes before her own well–being and is always there to support their

Harold Junior was shown similar like his father. He was seen a macho bullying son. Harold saw him as personifying what a man seen like. Junior
uses his power on Tony and slams the piano lid on Tony's fingers while he was playing the piano for his mother.
Tony is impoverished due to the severe alcoholism of his father; however, he avoids a seemingly inevitable crisis, overcoming what he describes as
"insurmountable odds" as he manages to escape. His own brother, whom Tony identifies as his closest friend, as he trains on the opposing team
ultimately competing against Tony in the event, destroys the notion of "mateship". The film leaves the viewer subtly depressed as they have witnessed
Tony's family falling apart.

Descriptive Essay About Swimming
GO! My coach's booming voice rings in my ears as I dive off the starting block. This is my 3rd 100 meter sprint, but it feels like number 50. The
water feels especially heavy. Even though I'm breathing way too often, my lungs are gasping for air. I silently beg myself to kick faster, but then
suddenly I am stopped. The rhythm of swimming has been interrupted. Another swimmer is in front of me, going slower than I would like. The
splashes from her kicks blind me, and the swirling water makes it even harder to breath. I tap her feet once, twice, three times in the span of a few
seconds. We are soon approachingthe wall. I prepare to stop, thinking that she, like everyone else, will pause at the wall and let me go by. Instead,
she flip turns and launches herself off the wall into another 50. I sigh, pause at the wall for a few seconds, launch off the wall yet again, only to be
greeted by the familiar obstacle a few meters later.
This is what goes on almost every day at swim practice. Swimmers have an unspoken, sometimes spoken, rule that if someone touches your feet,
you stop at the wall and let them go by. This rule keeps us working together like an orchestra, and our practices efficient like a highway. However,
sometimes swimmers refuse to do this. I have been the perpetrator of this misdemeanor. Everyone on the team has been. However, some swimmers
commit this crime more often than others, and it gets extremely frustrating. My self control is put to the test because I feel the need to scream and
swim right over her. I can't, however, because we are a team and must work together. I am a caged lion. The type of set has a lot to do with my
reaction. If we are doing a long set without intervals, I can deal with the shenanigans. My body is a calm lullaby. If it is a fast, high intensity,
interval set, then I start steaming like a teapot. The reason for that is I am already stressed because I am trying to make an interval time. When
people are in my way and refuse to move, I feel even more stressed because I get even farther behind the clock.
The other big factor is when the swimmer is aware of the situation. One prime example of this took place on a crisp autumn day in September, 2017.
Although I had already

Benefit Of Ocean Exploration

  • 1. Benefit Of Ocean Exploration Astonishingly, Did you know that we have better maps of the moon than we do of the ocean? It's true! Scientists are working to make drones to explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a developing science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology. Ocean Exploration technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring the deep sea. First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade. In the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds of gear and photographing technology. Now, all you need is the drone and an ocean. There are many things needed for scuba diving. Such as, oxygen tanks and diving gear that also cost lots of money. With drones, ocean exploration will be much cheaper and faster than scuba divers ever have been. (#2) According to a journalist, Kimberly Pierceall, from Military Times, from her article 'Researchers Want To Use Drones For Ocean Floor Exploration' She said that, "..They (Scientists) hope (12 research drones) will survey the deepest parts of the ocean faster – and cheaper – than anyone has done before" (Pierceall, 2017). This evidence proves that with new developing ocean technology, exploring will be cheaper and faster than it ever has before. This is a benefit to society because researchers will be able to explore vast amounts of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Essay about The Subculture of Scuba Divers The focus of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics, and history regarding the subculture of scuba divers. Scuba divers get to explore new, exciting, and breathtaking regions in the ocean that many people never get to experience in their whole lives. Scuba divers hold important roles in society because of the discoveries they make on a daily basis. They provide much needed research that is important in the scientific community regarding newly discovered marine species. Scuba divers get the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean features that include shipwrecks, coral reefs, and other stunning tropical ocean regions. Many people find scuba diving an enjoyable leisure activity to be involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As time progressed, the equipment that was used for scuba diving began to be perfected, and many workout clubs began featuring classes to train people how to dive (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). This allowed scuba diving to become a leisure activity that anyone could engage in (Ed LaRochelle, 2009). Jacques Cousteau was a famous scuba diver who made many discoveries, including many new innovative tools and equipment such as the aquatic lung (Ryan Spence, 2010). He also produced over 100 television episodes discussing the different aspects of scuba diving along with his new inventions (Ryan Spence, 2010). Sylvia Earle was another recognizable person in the field of scuba diving (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). She was a famous figure because she was the first person ever to dive to two hundred and fifty feet breathing compressed air in a Jim Suit, and she broke many records for deepest dives in submersibles (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). Thirdly, Augustus Siebe created a diving suit that included a copper helmet and rubber material for a more flexible suit (John Bantin, 2007). This invention by Siebe allowed divers to dive to deeper depths into the ocean and explore more wrecks and ocean features (John Bantin, 2007). Jacques Cousteau once said, "Innovation is nothing more than the tool of the explorer... If you need something, you make it" (Ryan Spence, 2010: 12). These explorers helped shape ... • 3. Springboard Diving As A Discourse Community Springboard Diving as a Discourse Community The world of diving has been around since the 1800's and has been seen at the Olympic games since 1904. It first started off being called "fancy–diving" where the aim was to plunge into the water and see who could achieve the furthest depth underwater. It then progressed and became more complex involving specific skills and dives which first only men were allowed to participate in, and later women came into the society. To this day, diving is one of the most popular events watched at the Olympic games; however this community remains small and structured because of its intricate characteristics ("History of Diving", 1). Diving has been influenced by the constant updating of technology and is incorporated in this world through high schools, colleges and universities as well as numerous sporting events that occur around the world. A theorist named John Swales analyzes communities in more detail and states that communities continue to develop and change throughout the years and further calls these communities, discourse communities. John Swales defines a discourse community as "a group of people involved in and communicating about a particular topic, issue, or in a particular field" (Swales, 215). He specifies a discourse community through academics; however, there are countless discourse communities worldwide that can be perceived. Swales also analyzes a speech community, and how a discourse community and speech community are two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Michael Phelps Research Paper Swimming is an ancient activity that has taken place since both water and humans were on the earth. Around 10,000 years ago humans found prehistoric evidence of recreational swimming on Stone Age paintings. Books such as the Iliad, The Odyssey and the bible all include references of swimming. Around 1830 in England swimming started to become a popular recreational activity. By the time 1837 rolled around the National Swimming Society held six different competitions around London. In 1875 captain Matthew Webb was the first person to swim the English Channel. He completed the swim using the breaststroke technique for 21.26 miles. White people made up stories that colored people could not swim because of the way their bodies worked. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act opened swimming pools to all people. The Olympic athlete I chose was Michael Phelps. I chose Michael Phelps because he is one of the top swimmers on the world and he was won many medals. At a young age Phelps was diagnosed with ADHD. When he was only fifteen years old he broke the world record for the 200 meter butterfly. In the Olympics, Phelps has won more than 33 metals and over 26 of them being gold. In April 2014, Phelps announced that he would come out of retirement. • 5. Personal Narrative : A Personal Experience On My Life I was four years old as I was being pushed in a stroller onto the Clovis West pool deck and I knew just about what I had come for. I had been begging my mom, ever since I saw my big sister swim, to let me swim like the big kids. I remember how confident I was standing behind that block, knowing almost as it was my destiny to be in this sport. I hear the starter tell us, " take your mark" and in that moment I knew, this is where I belong. Little did I know twelve years later I would be sitting here in my room writing how one small sport made such an impact on my life. I was ten years old when my parents and coaches really noticed I had a gift in this sport. There was always something I loved about feeling the cool crisp water in between my fingers and toes as I kicked and pulled for hours upon end, six days a week for six years straight. Most people thought I was crazy swimming and going to swim practice when it was just above freezing temperature outside. The cold never stooped me though, it always made me more amped to get out there and train knowing my other competitors did not show because they said it was too cold. At the end of short course season we had driven to our western championships where I was ranked fairly high. I sat behind the block shivering, not because I was cold, but because my poor ten year old body was full of anxiety. I go up for my race and shake it off and forget it all, reminding myself who I was and why I was there. I finish my race, look up at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Personal Narrative: Why I Became A Certified Scuba Diver Over the summer I became a certified Scuba Diver. I still remember how I was so filled with joy when I passed. It wasn't easy but I did it. I was so happy because it was my birthday present and because of my happiness we drove to the dive shop that day and got the paperwork. One of the main things I had to pass was a ten hour test about scuba diving and get higher than a 80%. It was apparently made for 8th graders, but it was really hard for me. I received an A and the feeling was like a thousand fireworks exploding around me. The week after the test we went to a public pool ( a school) that went down nine feet under water, but first we had to assemble, disassemble, and then reassemble five times in a row. The hardest part of diving is handeling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Explain What Role Did Your Race Class Or Gender Play In... Did you learn to swim as a child? If so, ask your parents why they made sure you learned to swim. If you did not, ask your parents why you never learned to swim. What role (if any) did your race, class, or gender play in you learning or not learning to swim as a child? As a child I never learned how to swim, but I was always so fascinated by swimmers. My mother said that learning to swim was just never a priority for us. I think the role race played in my case was, since I am hispanic other sports were more followed. Like for example I grew up playing soccer, I was part of a soccer team up until 8th grade. I was brought into what could be seen as the sport of Latinos. At a young age, swimming around me was never talked about as a sport or competition. It was seen as a pastime or to simply learn. 2. In other words, was there a public or private pool you had access to? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pool is open to the public, and for a good price. So basically anyone can enter and have fun or swim in the lanes. Swimming was something I just didn't have an interest in learning. • 8. Idaho Swimming Research Paper The Sanctioning of Swimming in Idaho My senior paper is a subject that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It is something that I've loved from the very beginning all the way to the very end. I'm taking about competitive swimming. But I'm going to be talking about something different with swimming that's probably not expected, I'm instead talking about getting it to be a sanctioned sport in Idaho. See, swimming in Idaho is not considered a real sport, but instead a club, and personally, I wanted to see swimming, the activity that I've loved, become a legitimate sport for future generations of kids to enjoy. This paper covers the main reasons why I wanted swimming to be a sanctioned sport, the steps it took to get it sanctioned, and finally, actually making it a sanctioned sport in Idaho this year. This paper begins with my own existing knowledge of swimming, followed by questions that I wanted to find out in my research that were answered in my paper. It then gets into my research and what I found out while conducting my senior paper. After that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And in my mind I really saw swimming in my mind and heart as a true sport in this state. And as the years went on I realized that swimming started to become a more popular sport in this state. I also realized that swimming followed a lot of the same regulations that other sports in the state did that were already sanctioned. Such as, having equal opportunity participation for both boys and girls. So, I knew personally what I had to do you make sure the friends that I made on the team got what they deserved. And when I heard that they were going to make the vote to sanction swimming this year, I knew that I had to pursue it so that the future generations of swimmers could really enjoy swimming as a real sport as much as I had tried when I was ... • 9. Doping is a Fool’s Game All athletes of all sports on a professional level must be required to undergo drug testing for performance enhancing drugs prior to participating in any sporting event to ensure an equal level playing field for all competing athletes, no matter the sport. Furthermore, performance enhancing drugs are illegal and must remain this way in order to keep fairness in the competitive world of sports. The bottom line is that athletes should not be able to do performance enhancing drugs and continue to be allowed to performance in these sports. The unfairness of doing these drugs does not allow for a fair game. Ultimately, these cheating athletes are superior in the field and dominate the other athletes that do not take steroids and how can you call that a fair game when the athletes are not equal in performance due to a enhancing drug. To further the argument, performance enhancing drugs must remain against the law to protect the athlete's health and well being. If today's athletes are going to be so careless and take these drugs, we as a society must step in and take control of what these athletes are putting in their bodies. And if they continue to break the law by taking performance enhancing drugs, then they must suffer the consequences by possibly being banned from the sport for an extended period of time or a lifetime ban, which is would a result of their salaries and livelihood, endorsements and possible prison time. We must take this issue with more than a grain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Anthony Mulcahy Introduction: Swimming upstream is a film directed by Russell Mulcahy which was based in the early 1950's. The film was produced in 2003 and is based on a boy named Tony Fingleton a young man from a troubled family who found the inner strength to become a champion. Always overshadowed in his father's eyes by his brothers. The only way Tony feels about winning his father's heart is by his extraordinary swimming talent. Tony and his father (Harold snr) have a very unhealthy relationship as Tony struggled to get his father's approval or even be an applaud for doing something good in his life. The purpose of my film was to tell my audience about a boy who enjoyed playing the piano, reading books and being successful at school. While trying to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has made the audience feel proud of such a young talented man Tony has turned into who doesn't get much faith and love from his father after trying his hardest to do something right to gain his father's love and blessing. Russell has developed the character of Tony by expressing his problems with his father throughout the film from Harold Snr disliking him playing the piano to getting beaten but by his older brother Harold Jnr to then achieving something but still not getting any type of applaud from his father. Harold Snr then separated Tony from his brother/best friend John when it came to swimming practice which pulled Tony and John further away from each other as they were both each other's support when it came to competition shown in the scene where Tony was looking around for John to do their handshake they did before every race which then made him not perform to his best and made him loose to his brother. Tony then went further in his swimming as he was very talented. • 12. Diving : A Window Of An Unexplored World DIVING: A Window to an Unexplored World Mankind has always been very curious about the ocean and its secrets. In the past centuries, countless numbers of inventions and experiments have been made in an attempt to maximize the time that a person can stay underwater. Thanks to a device called the aqualung, invented in 1943 by Jacques Cousteau, people were able to dive down and explore the ocean with his/her own air source without the need to be connected to an air source at the surface. Eventually, this lead to the formation of a subculture around the sport, with many divers around the world exploring the world's oceans. There are many reasons to be a part of this subculture. I interviewed Luke Inman, a successful Instructor Trainer for the Professional Association of Dive Instructors, and an avid filmmaker and photographer who constantly works with the BBC, Discovery Networks, National Geographic, & Animal Planet, and after asking him what rituals or practices a person must do to become part of this subculture, he answered: "You have to have a love for the ocean, you have to love fish". You also need to take a Scuba course. This course is called an Open Water Diver course (or OWD for short); this will be the diver's first certification. It teaches you about atmospheric pressure, how your body is affected underwater, the risks of diving, and how easy they are to evade by following simple procedures. After the diver gets certified as an open water diver, he or she may want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Personal Narrative Essay About Swimming And She Swam Happily Ever After . . . The sport of swimming has not always been in my life. My interest in swimming came about when I moved to Grand Haven in middle school. The reason I became interested in it was simple enough, the first person I met from Grand Haven that went to my new school was an avid, as well as especially talented, swimmer. While I cannot remember exactly why this was enough to convince me to try something completely new in a brand new school with brand new people, I can look back on my choice to start swimming as an important moment. Ironically enough, when I was younger I despised swimming lessons. My parents tell me that when I was around three I cried and carried on whenever I had to get into the pool and have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Really, swimming is a sport that is largely based on the hard work of each individual swimmer, but when it comes down to it, every swimmer has to have a support system to be successful. This last season of high school swimming demonstrated the importance of being a team to me. When it came down to the final weeks of the season, being a team began to matter more and more. The last weeks of swimming are key to a swimmer's success at Conference. As we get close to the Conference meet we begin to taper, where yardage slowly goes down, but you swim at more of a race pace and have longer to rest. During this part of the season we emphasize staying close as a team because it boosts the team's mindset, which is a significant contributing factor to swimming well. Supporting each other as a team meant having team get togethers, dinners, and helping each other feel positive about how we were going to swim at Conference. Two weeks later at the Conference meet I had my best races ever. I dropped more than seven seconds off of my best race, the 100 breaststroke, and dropped four to ten plus more seconds in my other events as well. Since swimming is a sport where success is so largely based on the mindset you have when training and competing, having a team full of friends and coaches to support me lead to my great end–of–season success. He didn't think he would have changed it, even if he had a choice. He pulled his brimmed hat further over his droopy eyes and squirmed into a more comfortable position on the makeshift hammock, recalling the very first day. John had found himself conflicted. His hands tugged through his rapidly greying hair, peppered areas of darkness disappearing more and more each day. John pulled on his diving equipment but with every turn of his back, he heard frantic scuttling and finding the source, he was met with the sight of a retreating back kicking up sand and a handful of tropical fruits left on his bag. After a while, the pile grew into a small mountain, strays rolling on the sand. Tailed by the children, he eyed the dangerous rocky areas, further away from calmer waters. It attaches to the cylinder valve in the same manner as a regulator to provide a one–time check of cylinder pressure. A bleed valve relieves trapped pressure so the gauge can be removed when the cylinder valve has been closed. Dive Computers may allow longer dive times because they compensate for time spent at varying depths throughout a dive compared to the "square" dive profiles required for the use of most tables. I decided to wait until the end to ride the slide. I rode the slides that didn't seem as cool. I rode all of those but one. • 35. Psychology Of Fear Many individuals would agree that at least one thing terrifies them. In fact, there is a whole television series based on what strange phobias people have. These fears or phobias can range from anything consisting of being terrified of the dark, to being petrified to simply stand next to a person. People often wonder what causes a fear. One unique theory as to why these fears develop, is that they are the effect of a traumatic event that took place in the person's life. In addition, another philosophy is that fear is the body's natural defense to danger. Whatever the cause may be, fear has the gift to maintain a person's safety or the capability to render a person's life miserable. Water is not only a resource we use to quench our thirst, but is also mandatory in growing foods that our bodies require, bestowing a tree's life that we need in order to breath, and contributing to any living thing's quality of life. Yet, why is something so nourishing also, the same factor that terrorizes me. Water was not always a fear that I possessed, after all I spent a majority of my summer days at our local swimming pool. Nothing could possibly compare to being surrounded by cold water on a hot summer day except, maybe the smell that filled the atmosphere. The air was thick with the scents of chlorine, sunscreen, and maybe even the occasional evidence of baby oil. Sounds of laughter and amusement had been always present at the swimming pool and as a result, I could never get enough. However, in a direct moment all these simple pleasures ... • 36. Creative Story : A Short Story It was turning dark, starting to rain and shadows were cast all over the cemetery. The only light was from the headlights of the car we came in. There was a slight cold breeze from the north and it was about 60 degrees. My hair would be all over the place if it weren't for my bandana with the American flag pictured on the front. "Napoleon, come here." Gertrude my 18 year old sister told me. "This is the spot of mom and pa's murder when they were looking at grandpa's grave." "Wait murder! You said they got in a car crash! Why didn't you tell me." "You were three years old when it happened 11 years ago and you weren't very mature until now!" Gertrude explained. "You lied to me for 11 years!" I screamed and ran to the car. The car ride home was quiet. It was like the car was filled with dead people. When we got there I went to the docks downstairs where I was working on a new submarine. The only problem is the door I made is 5 foot tall and I'm 5' 2" and Gertrude is 5' 11". A week has passed and the mansion is still dead quiet from the argument a week ago. Luckily, I finished the submarine and Gertrude and I are leaving today to try and find Atlantis. "Gertrude are you ready?" I screamed up the stairs toward her room. "Yes, I am just grabbing my camera. I'll be down at the dock in a few minutes." Gertrude replied. "Ok, I have all of your diving gear and 2 oxygen tanks." I responded. Starting to walk down the ... Adult Only Pool Case Study Grey Oaks Adult Only Pool Growing up, most summer days consisted of my mother waking up my brother and me early so that we could be the first to arrive at the swimming pool in order to secure our chairs for the day. However, most occasions we noticed that other people had the same idea. Once we finally found an ideal spot for our family to lounge for the day, my brother and I had to face the crowd of children splashing in the water. Each day the chaotic scene reoccurred. My mom frequently told me that the Grey Oaks Homes would be building a new pool any day, since a second pool was one of the things my parents were promised when they moved in. The year my parents built a new home in Grey Oaks, I was four years old. Now, I am seventeen and have only seen the situation worsen. Each year, dozens of new homes are built in my neighborhood, yet a singular pool remains. My proposal is that the Rodrock Homes should build an "Adult Only" pool in the Grey Oaks neighborhood. ... • 41. Descriptive Essay About Swimming GO! My coach's booming voice rings in my ears as I dive off the starting block. This is my 3rd 100 meter sprint, but it feels like number 50. The water feels especially heavy. Even though I'm breathing way too often, my lungs are gasping for air. I silently beg myself to kick faster, but then suddenly I am stopped. The rhythm of swimming has been interrupted. Another swimmer is in front of me, going slower than I would like. The splashes from her kicks blind me, and the swirling water makes it even harder to breath. I tap her feet once, twice, three times in the span of a few seconds. We are soon approachingthe wall. I prepare to stop, thinking that she, like everyone else, will pause at the wall and let me go by. Instead, she flip turns and launches herself off the wall into another 50. I sigh, pause at the wall for a few seconds, launch off the wall yet again, only to be greeted by the familiar obstacle a few meters later. This is what goes on almost every day at swim practice. Swimmers have an unspoken, sometimes spoken, rule that if someone touches your feet, you stop at the wall and let them go by. This rule keeps us working together like an orchestra, and our practices efficient like a highway. However, sometimes swimmers refuse to do this. I have been the perpetrator of this misdemeanor. Everyone on the team has been. However, some swimmers commit this crime more often than others, and it gets extremely frustrating. My self control is put to the test because I feel the need to scream and swim right over her. I can't, however, because we are a team and must work together. I am a caged lion. The type of set has a lot to do with my reaction. If we are doing a long set without intervals, I can deal with the shenanigans. My body is a calm lullaby. If it is a fast, high intensity, interval set, then I start steaming like a teapot. The reason for that is I am already stressed because I am trying to make an interval time. When people are in my way and refuse to move, I feel even more stressed because I get even farther behind the clock. The other big factor is when the swimmer is aware of the situation. One prime example of this took place on a crisp autumn day in September, 2017. Although I had already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
