5. Image Types
• Pixel (or) Raster images - Russell Kirsch(Inventor)
* Pixel is a contraction of the words Picture & Element
* Raster is a term for all images that fit inside this model
• Vector images - Ivan Sutherland (Inventor)
* First vector drawing program was called Sketchpad
6. Raster Images Vector images
Raster graphic supports a wide range of
colour, It is good for photography
Vector images are better for graphic
designing for its scalability
It uses dot matrix data structure
[rectangular grids of cells (or) pixels]
These are all equal in size.
It uses X and Y coordinates. It’s a
geometrical primitives such as lines,
points, shapes, or curves
Resolutions are Value dependent Independent of image resolution
File size is high File Size is too low
Each pixel individually corresponds to a
particular hue, saturation, brightness,
opacity and position within that
Vector graphics are composed of paths.
Image Dimension changing makes graphics
pixilated (damaged)
Stretching and squeezing will not damage
the Image
12. Fabric Formation
Concept of woven fabric
Woven fabric is formed by interlacing of
two(or)more mutually perpendicular sets of yarns
13. Design Construction patterns from a weave
• Warp ups are indicated like: ■
• Weft ups are indicated like: □
The patterns are constructed as following steps:
1) Determine the weave, warp colour sequence and weft
colour sequence, and calculate the pattern repeat.
2) Draw the weave, warp and weft colour sequence as per their
weave location, and fill the weave on colour pattern location.
3) Now the Fabric is ready.
