The document announces an upcoming course on International Law of the Sea to be held from January to April 2008 at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute in Malta. The course will provide a comprehensive study of this major branch of public international law, examining its history and development as well as contemporary legal regimes governing maritime zones, boundaries, research, fisheries, and dispute settlement. It will be taught by the Institute's director and lecturers and provide networking opportunities for over 30 legal experts and professionals from over 110 states attending.
In August 2015, the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) bought together investors, scientists and industry leaders to examine the investment implications of adapting to climate change. The workshop looked at emerging best practice across different industry sectors, liability and governance issues, and practical case studies from leading investors and companies to better understand the opportunities and the challenges. The outcome is this guide, which aims to capture investor feedback from the discussion and provide practical insights on how investors can and should be investing through an adaptation lens.

The International Law of the Sea
The course provides a comprehensive study of the International Law of the Sea, encompassing all the important aspects of
this major branch of Public International Law. The course syllabus includes a set of introductory lectures on the genesis and
historic development of the Law of the Sea, its basic elements in the light of their development through the deliberations, and
on the results of the three UN Conferences on the Law of the Sea. Attention is also given to the role of Customary
International Law in the development and codification of Law of the Sea. Thereafter follows a detailed analysis of each area
of the International Law of the Sea, including all the major maritime zone regimes, delimitation of maritime boundaries,
marine scientific research, fisheries, landlocked and geographically disadvantaged states and settlement of disputes. The
course studies the rules of contemporary international law explaining also their historical background and development.
