Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi banker and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize
(2006). Yunus is credited with developing the concepts of microfinance and
microcredit. These are schemes which offer small loans to the rural poor – to enable
them to invest and lift themselves out of poverty.“When we want to help the poor, we
usually offer them charity. Most often we use charity to avoid recognizing the

1)Dr Saleem Rao was born in a remote village of District Vehari, Chak
Number 155/W.B on 27 November 1957. After completing early education from his
village/Vehari city, he obtained MBBS degree from Quaid-a-Azam Medical College
Bahawalpur in 1982. After completing house job in Bahawal Victoria Hospital
Bahawalpur, he went to Iran in 1984 and served as Medical Officer there for 6 years.
This enabled him to study the Iranian society transforming under Imam Khomeni.
On return from Iran, he completed specialization in Skin from MayoHospital Lahore
and started his own clinic at Akbar Chowk, Township, Lahore. During December
2006, he founded Ilm-o-Hunar Foundation and established first vocational centre at
his native village by collecting hides of sacrificial animals. This centre started
functioning with 12 sewing machines to provide stitching training to women and
girls to enhance their family income. The journey continued and today Ilm-o-Hunar
Foundation has 46 centres in different cities of Punjab with Head Office at Akbar
Chowk, besides his clinic.

2)Adnan haider was associated with the political party Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), where he worked in different capacities, including Central
Media Coordinator, Central Assistant Secretary Information and Deputy
Information Secretary PTI. He criticized PTI under Imran Khan to have
compromised its agenda of change by making many compromises with status quo

forces which, he alleged, had inducted or planted many leaders in the ranks of
PTI. Soon after he left PTI, he founded another political party, Aam Admi Party
Pakistan (AAPP). He believes that a secular, liberal, socialist, democratic and
pluralistic society is the answer to many woes that have plagued Pakistan over
decades. Randhawa is busy in organizing his newly founded Aam Aadmi Party of
Pakistan to wage a political struggle against what he terms as corrupt ruling elite
and status quo forces of Pakistan.

3)Waseem Ahmad ( born 10 April 1977, Vehari) is a
Pakistan field hockey player and ex- captain of Pakistan hockey team. He is
regarded as one of the best left halves in the world, and became the most capped
midfielder and most capped player for Pakistan. After announcing his retirement
from International hockey during Press Conference held after Pakistan-India
third-place match of 26th Champions Trophy in Lahore, former Pakistan captain
Waseem Ahmed later staged a comeback to international hockey in 2006 for
World Cup and retired immediately after Pakistan team campaign in London
Olympics 2012.

4)Zaheer ahmad Born in 1948, Ahmed obtained a master's
degree in pharmacy from the University of Punjab in Lahore and later became

Millat Foundation, a non-government organisation (NGO) aimed at uplifting
education. He belonged to a mediocre background.

Angel of Mercy
The Richest Poo dhi resolved to dedicate his life to aiding the poor, and over the next
sixty years, he single handedly changed the face of welfare in Pakistan. Edhi founded
the Edhi Foundation. Additionally, he established a welfare trust, named the Edhi
Trust with an initial sum of a five thousand rupees which was later renamed as Bilqis
Edhi Trust. Regarded as a guardian for the poor, Edhi began receiving numerous
donations, which allowed him to expand his services.
It also operates free nursing homes, orphanages, clinics, women's shelters, and
rehab centres for drug addicts and mentally ill individuals. The Edhi International
Foundation has been called the largest and best organized social welfare system in
Pakistan and in the Third World. Through his organization, Abdul Sattar Edhi gives
the world a vision for implementing humanitarian aid.
His famous words are :“My religion is humanitarianism, which is the basis of every
religion in the world.”
“So, many years later there were many who still complained and questioned, ‘Why
must you pick up Christians and Hindus in your ambulance?’ And I was saying,
‘Because the ambulance is more Muslim than you’.”
