Probably 2 to 3 days in KL, do visit the Bird Park, apart from the famous tallest Twin Tower, KL
Tower, shopping at Bukit Bintang, food at Jalan Alor. For kids, can go Sunway lagoon
themepark or Genting theme park (1-2 hour away by bus).
As for Penang, most of the interesting places are located mainly at Georgetown and Seberang
Perai. Such as Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple in the Georgetown. You can read more
detail articles at http://www.talkmalaysia.com/penang
Beaches isn’t that nice in Penang as compared to Langkawi.

Charles asks…
What are Jew taught of Malaysia?
The Malaysian Jews consisted mainly of Oriental Jews, the majority of whom were Baghdadi
Jews (from Baghdad, Iraq) as well as European and Central Asian Jews and a handful of
Chinese Jews, yes Chinese Jews, from Kaifeng. The Kaifeng Jews fled their Chinese homeland
mainly during the Communist take over of mainland China in 1949.
The first known Jew to settle in Penang was believed to have been Ezekiel Menasseh who
migrated from Baghdad in 1800s. Menasseh remained the only Jew in British Malaya for 30
years, and he continued to observe Jewish holidays. After World War I, more Jews began to
settle in Malaya. Then during World War II, the Jewish community was evacuated by the British
military to Singapore, fearing Japanese imprisonment and ill-treatment. By 1963, only 20 Jewish
families remained in Malaysia including former RTM orchestra conductor Gus Styne.
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Well, I’m Jewish and this is the first I’ve ever heard of Malaysia, so the answer for me and my
community is that we aren’t taught anything. However in a different area, be it Europe or a

John asks…
Where can I meet these criteria in Malaysia trip?
Hi, I’m helping a friend to find nice places to go on his holiday. He likes scenic views, shopping
(especially for clothes) and places with nice atmospheres. He also like animals like lions and
tigers. He is going to kuala lumpur and Penang. Thank you for your help.
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Malaysia has it all. In Kuala Lumpur, the capital of malaysia, you can take your friend to the
National Zoo to see those tigers and lions and many more animals. The National musuem an
awesome place. The National Mosque, spectacular. The twin towers, axesome. Shopping in
Kuala Lumpur is unbelievable from batik and designers clothing and handbags from night
markets along the busy streets of Petaling Street to well established malls all in walking distant
in Bukit Bintang road from your wide choices of hotels nearby. The food is unbelievable from
steak houses, to 3 major ethnic groups cuisine of Malay, Chinese and Indian food. Then you
can go by road or fly to Penang. A total change of sceneries from bustling busy business center
in Kuala Lumpur to scenic beach front romantic Penang. You can swim all day in those beach
front hotels and all the available amenities and water sports from scuba diving, para sailing,
deep sea diving, water scooters, even fishing boats etc. Exquisites temples from Chinese to
Indians and mosques from the malay cultures. There are pewter, batik etc factories. Then there
are other beautiful places to visit like Genting Highlands with casino, Langkawi island and

6. Suggestions for around Kuala Lumpur
1. Sunway Lagoon theme park, 10 km from city centre. This is a picturesque theme park best
visited during weekdays to avoid crowd. Lots of fun rides at the dry park and water park for kids
as well as adults. You can spend an entire day here. There is also a huge theme mall right next
to it called Sunway Pyramid with many restaurants, boutiques, a bowling alley and an
ice-skating rink.
2. Petronas Twin Towers and the Acquaria. Half day.
3. Bird Park and the Butterfly Farm which are located very near the city centre and popualr with
small children. Prepare a picnic basket for this half-day visit.
4. Elephant Sanctuary at Kuala Gandah, 200km from Kuala Lumpur. Your hotel can arrange for
this trip at around RM150 per person, I think. You can see elephants in the wild and take a ride
on one. The trip will also include a detour to the village of indigenous people (orang asli).
Suggestions for Penang:
Book into a kid-friendly resort at Batu Ferringhi beach, for example Shangri-La Golden Sands
and Parkroyal Penang. Both resorts offer a couple of swimming pools including children slides,
jacuzzi section and pool bar. Plenty of acvitivies. Adults can swim in the sea, ride a jetski,
paraglide or enjoy a massage by the sea.
The city of Penang is very lively with some cultural attractions. Look out for Leith Street and Kek
Lok Si Temple.
Suggestions for Langkawi:
Stay at Tanjung Rhu for long sandy beach and nice sunset. Take a trip out to Pulau Payar
(Payar Island) for great snorkelling.
Wish you a wonderful trip!
