11. Part-Time Employees, Temporary Employees, Contract Workers and Core Employees.
Part-Time Employees:- Part-time employees are those who work fewer than 40 hours a week.
Temporary work or temporary employment refers to an employment situation where the
working arrangement is limited to a certain period of time based on the needs of the employing
organization.
Contract Workers An employee who works under contract for an employer.
A contract employee is hired for a specific job at a specific rate of pay. A contract employee
does not become a regular addition to the staff and is not considered a permanent employee.
Core OR Permanent employees comprising the central and foundational group that provides the
skills essential to the survival and growth of an organization. Core employees are supported in
their work by contingent or peripheral employees.

Downsizing:- An activity in an organization aimed at creating greater efficiency by eliminating certain jobs.
Rightsizing:- Linking employee needs to organizational strategy.
Outsourcing:- Sending work “outside” the organization to be done by individuals not employed full time
with the organization.
contingent workforce:- The part-time, temporary, and contract workers used by organizations to fill peak
staffing needs or perform work not done by core employees.
