The past perfect continuous tense shows actions that
were ongoing in the past and ended before another
past action.
3. The use
When should we use the past perfect continuous?
1. Something that started in the past and continued up to
another action or time in the past.
2. Something that finished just before another event in the
past. This is usually used to show a result at a time in the
past.

Positive
He / she / it + had + been + verb 1-ing + object /
adverb
They / we/ I / you + had + been + verb 1-ing + object

Negative
he / she / it + had not + been + verb 1-ing + object /
