During construction, the key consultants are architects, quantity surveyors, and mechanical and electrical engineers. The quantity surveyor monitors costs and advises the architect on any additional expenses. After completion, the architect must ensure that any defects found are rectified by the contractor as all buildings have some mistakes due to human error in construction.

before construction?
A: First, get the design apporve by the client to ensure
they know what are we doing then we proceed with the
stage which is get approval from the development
authorities. It can be from local authorities, for here
Kuala Lumpur is under DBKL or it can be Bomba which
is fire authority.
Q: What are the things needed to be done
during construction?
A: I would say the main important consultant will be
architects, C&S, M&E. and of course QS. QS monitor the
cost and ensure the budget is monitored througout the
construction period. Then, Architect we called it as SO
( supervising officer). QS will advice us should there any
additional cost and etc so architect have to monitor it
from the QS’s advices.

after completion?
A: There is some complains because the buidling is
buildt by human so there will be some mistakes.
Therefore this is the thing that architect have to
monitor, to ensure that all these defects are being
rectified by the contrator
