Ductile Iron Piles
Unique self-locking joint
• Self-locking tapered spigot end
& tapered socket
• Joint strength is greater than
pile’s section.
• Internal shoulder
• Double thickness socket wall
• Large driving face
9. Fast, easy & safe
• Self-locking joints cut costs and delays
by eliminating welding and splicing.
• They offer a high degree of rigidity.

10. PRODUCT TRANSPORTATION & ASSEMBLY
5.0m pipes cut shipment costs
• Transport by road & by 20-foot sea containers
• 5.0m single lengths reduce storage area on site
and are easier to move.
Continuous modular assembly
• DIP can be driven in very long lengths and has
been installed to depths of up to 60 meters
Ductile Iron Piles

11. 45° inclination
• Excavator adjustability combined with tube and joint
rigidity enable DIPs to be driven at angles up to 45°,
exponentially expanding the range of pile uses.
Minimal ground disturbance
• DIP driving is low vibration, allowing piles to be placed
in close proximity to existing structures and foundations,
or other piles.
• The DIP system displaces and compacts the soil,
hence improving its characteristics.
• Ground heave is virtually non-existent.

13. PRODUCT TECHNIQUES
Ductile Iron Piles
Dry Driven for Skin Friction Piles
This technique is used with deep soft soil
where it is impractical to find firm bedrock.
It eliminates the costs of drill spoil removal associated
with cast in situ piles, reduces on-site traffic and in cases
of ground contamination, eliminates the additional costs
resulting from treatment and disposal.

14. PRODUCT TECHNIQUES
Ductile Iron Piles
Dry Driven for Skin Friction Piles
The compression of the surrounding soil beneath
the pile tip and along the pile shaft increases
the mechanical characteristics of the ground,
improves the skin friction and end bearing
capacity of the pile.
It also enables monitoring of penetration rates,
versus depth by driving, to balance the bearing
weight with the skin friction. Skin friction can be further
improved by utilising the grouted annulus installation method.

15. PRODUCT TECHNIQUES
Dry Driven for End Bearing Piles
Ductile Iron Piles are ‘Dry Driven’ into the ground
until they reach practical refusal.
They are incredibly fast and cost effective to install
in areas where bedrock or very dense, cohesive strata
are accessible within 15m of the surface.
Once driven, piles are filled with concrete to improve
structural capacity and protect against corrosion.

16. Grouted Annulus for Skin Friction Piles
A simultaneous driving and grout injection method.
The starter pile piece is fitted with an oversized
conical grout shoe, which is open upwards,
but tapered downwards. As the pile is driven
the grout shoe creates a void or annulus around
the shaft of the pile.
Ductile Iron Piles
The load is transmitted either by end-bearing pressure in the case of un-
grouted end-bearing piles or by skin friction in the case of pressure-grouted
piles.
• No spoil from boring, no off-cuts and no re-machining
piles.
Quick, easy and safe!
PRODUCT TECHNIQUES

17. Ductile Iron Piles
Grouted Annulus for Skin Friction Piles
Grout is pumped through the drive shank
of the hammer and down into the core of the pile.
The grout is then forced out through the grout shoe
and fills the annulus created, as the pile is driven.
The grout displaces air and water and stabilises
the compacted walls of the annulus.

18. Ductile Iron Piles
Grouted Annulus for Skin Friction Piles
As the grout cures it forms a cohesive bond between
the pile and the surrounding ground, maximising
the skin friction and minimising the pile lengths required
to meet the engineering design loads.
Once cured, the grout eliminates contact between
the ductile iron and oxygen/water in the ground
and provides long-term corrosion protection.
