2. • Lemon Tree believes that the brand should stand for more than
‘just profit’ and hence they focus on driving the brand to become
truly Indian and trusted.
• In order for LTH to make these values a part of their DNA, they
have focused their efforts on creating a socially inclusive work
environment which seeks to bring in people of different
backgrounds, abilities and ethnicities and offer them work as a
unified team with a common goal.
• Lemon Tree has defined the goal as mainstreaming ‘Opportunity
Deprived Indians’ i.e. ODIs into its workforce. ODIs include:
• Supporting BPL i.e. Below Poverty Line Communities.
• Supporting Government
• Training And Sensitizing
• Tribal Art
• Giving Back To Society
• Art Objects Through People For Animals

3. Water conservation – UNSDG Goals
By 2030,
• Achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable
drinking water for all
• Substantially increase water-use efficiency across all sectors and
ensure sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater to address
water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people
suffering from water scarcity
• Implement integrated water resources management at all levels,
including through trans boundary cooperation as appropriate
• Protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including mountains,
forests, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes
• Expand international cooperation and capacity-building support to
developing countries in water- and sanitation-related activities and
programs, including water harvesting, desalination, water
efficiency, wastewater treatment, recycling and reuse technologies

4. Strategic Incremental Plan for Water
Efficiency
Employ ozone laundry systems. It injects ozone into the water, which works
in conjunction with the laundry chemicals to provide a more efficient and
cost-effective wash
Benefits of Ozone wash:
• washing using cold water, thereby saving considerable heat energy
• significant reduction in detergent dosage and number of rinses
• gentler to fabrics, thus extending linen life.
• beneficial for effluents, resulting in reductions in COD
• allows three traditional washing steps to be eliminated (the initial flush,
one rinse, and the softener steps).
• Of particular significance is the ability of ozone/cold water to
destroy/inactivate a wide variety of microorganisms within minutes.

5. Helping The Differentially Abled
GOI Guidelines
• The National Policy recognizes that Persons with Disabilities are
valuable human resource for the country and seeks to create an
environment that provides them equal opportunities, protection
of their rights and full participation in society. The focus of the
policy shall be on the following:
I. Prevention of Disabilities
II. Rehabilitation Measures
UNSDG Goals
• By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and
political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race,
ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru
6. Why does disability matter?
• Because over 20 million people (according to 2001 census), who
constitute 2.13 percent of country’s total population, suffer from
disability in India. However, the WHO pegs this figure at 70
million – you probably already employ someone in this category
and they may be among your employees.
• Because discrimination against disabled people is not just
unethical, it’s also unfair and a huge waste of human potential.

7. Strategic Incremental Plan for
Helping Differently Abled
Based on Type and extent of disabilities there can be further
improvement in areas of implementation.
• Identifying appropriate requirements.
• Right capabilities at right place

9. Gender Equality - UNSDG Goals
• End discrimination against women and girls
• Eliminate violence against women and girls
• Eliminate harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage
and female genital mutilation
• Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work
• Promotion of shared responsibility within the household and the
family
• Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal
opportunities for leadership
• Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and
reproductive rights
• Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources
• Adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable legislation for
the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women
and girls

10. Strategic Incremental Plan for Gender
Equality
• Senior management commitment
• Strive for improving last EEO report
• Measures to correct imbalance
• Place capable women alongside their male counterparts
• Get suggestions from stakeholders

11. Climate Action
Lemon Tree focuses on delivering a healthy ‘triple bottom line’ i.e.
Planet, People and Profit through its sustainability initiatives.
• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (L.E.E.D) is the
internationally recognized ecofriendly building certification standard
designed for energy savings, efficient use of water, reduction of CO2
emission and overall improvement in environmental quality.
• Green Fuels And Materials
• Use of CNG instead of LPG: leads to reduction of pollution
• Use of Green Building Material
• Recycled Wood/Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF): saves trees
• AAC blocks
• Sewage Treatment
Sewage Treatment Plant ensures preservation of natural environment
by producing bio products like bio fuels and methane

12. Climate Action
UNSDG Goals
• Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies
and planning
• The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC)
National Goals
• National Mission for a “Green India”: Goals include the afforestation
of 6 million hectares of degraded forest lands and expanding forest
cover from 23% to 33% of India’s territory
• National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change: To
gain a better understanding of climate science, impacts and
challenges, the plan envisions a new Climate Science Research Fund,
improved climate modeling, and increased international collaboration.

13. Strategic Incremental Plan for
Climate Action
• Use of organic Farms
• Promoting afforestation
• Reduction of carbon footprints
• Strategize for Ecotel Certification
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru
14. Clean And Affordable Energy
Current Scenario
• Use of CNG instead of LPG: leads to reduction of pollution
• Recycled Wood/Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF): saves
trees
• Solar Panel for hot water: alternative, renewable energy.
• Wind power: alternative, renewable energy. Being
implemented in a phased manner at hotels in Chennai
followed by Aurangabad and Pune.
• Auto Time Management (for lighting, air-conditioning and
ventilation fans) through timers and motion sensors: helps
conserve energy
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru
15. Strategic Incremental Plan for Clean
And Affordable Energy
• Use low-energy lighting. Replace tungsten GLS lamps and
T12 fluorescent tubes with much more energy efficient items
such as T5 tubes or compact fluorescent or LED lamps. These
could help to reduce the electricity you consume for lighting
by up to 80%.
• Implement a building management system (BEMS). These
systems control and monitor heating, ventilation and air
conditioning, and can reduce total energy costs by 10% or
more
