3. A Teacher Tool for Planning and Self-
Assessing
aligned with the
Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-
2020
4. The Texas Chart shares information on
your campus and district in their efforts to
effectively integrate technology across the
curriculum.
It is used to plan technology for the district
in the areas of: budgeting and evaluation of
projects. This chart provides a profile of the
campus and how is progressing toward
goals set in the Texas Long Range Plan for
Technology.
Educators must complete the chart to
provide the state with a cleared picture
about how to measure and prepare to reach
the goals set in the plan.
5. The STaR chart can be used:
•To create and update the district's technology plan.
•To set goals.
•To apply for grants.
•To track progress of No Child Left Behind.
The chart will help district and campuses answer critical
questions concerning technology.
6. The Texas Star Chart is developed around four key areas of the Long
Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020
The four key areas are:
Teaching and Learning
Educator Preparation and Development Leadership
Administration and Instructional Support
Infrastructure for Technology.
7. Short Descriptions of the 4 areas of the plan.
Teaching and Learning
This area is just what it says, it is how teaching of technology
and technology applications are being experienced in
classroom settings and the type of learning that our students
are experiencing on a daily basis.
Educator Preparation and Development
This area shares insight into how prepared are Texas
educators in the use of technology and what knowledge level
are they working under in the classroom setting.
Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support
This area views how the district, state and local offices feel
about the use of technology and how they support the
schools in reaching goals set.
Infrastructure for Technology
How is the district and campus assisting with the use of
technology? Are they providing needed resources to assist in
reaching the goals?

13. We have work to do to clean up our act and get
back in the ring for the upcoming school years.
My fight strategy includes:
•Daily work-outs using computer programs to during
instructions
• Staff development days for learning technology
applications
•Several miles of jogging to get support from other
places to increase our use of technology.
•Push-ups to help others collaborate in the use of
technology in their classrooms.
•Monthly practice to increase our strength in
development and preparation to get students ready
for the 21st century.
•For More Tips of getting back in the ring, visit:
•Texas Education Agency, Long Range Plan for
Technology.
