About US
Welcome to Panaich Oilfield Training Services Inc., (POTS) an Accredited IWCF Well Control
Training Center in Canada, established in the year 2016 by distinguished professionals and
academics with extensive expertise in the field of oil and gas upstream industry.
The core activity of POTS is conducting IWCF (Combined Surface/Subsea
Stack Well Control & Well Intervention Pressure Control Training) Level
2 and Level-3 and Level-4 courses for drilling personnel.
Our step towards taking care of needs of drilling industry; POTS has already acquired an
accreditation from IWCF and IWCF compliant portable simulators from UK for conducting these
certified training programs. Our new simulator can simulate dynamic positioning and
emergency disconnect also MUX systems of BOP controls.
POTS best in class room training facilities, equate batch sizes, sufficient simulator practice,
various assignments and self-study exercises make our programs a unique learning experience.
POTS use state of the Learning Management Systems (LMS), which provides online learning as
soon as candidates register for class. The class at POTS is not limited to four days but fits to
candidates own learning style and timing. The LMS gives access to manual exercises, math
review exercises before joining class.
Our instructor brings field experience, Petroleum Engineering Technology, Master Instructional
Skills & latest LMS technology to the class room. POTS is in partnership with Northern Alberta
Institute of Technology (NAIT-Edmonton, Canada). Kanwal Panaich had the opportunity to teach
Rig Technician (1,2,3), IADC & IWCF courses so it is easier to connect to RIG Tech skills and take it
over advanced concepts of Well Control (IWCF/IADC) Driller/Supervisory skills. The candidates
with RIG TECH red seal certification are eligible to attend IWCF level 3 OR Level 4 Course.
Our drive to make a difference and continue to lead the evolution by active training programs is
at the core of what makes our trainings so effective. At POTS Training Institute, we are always
committed to create new ways of improvement, from trainers and management team to
students, we teach skills that improve knowledge and increase work efficiency in drilling industry
personnel.
The clients list includes major Canadian/Global drilling contractors including NABORS, ENSIGN,
Savanna Energy, TRANSOCEAN, NOBLE, Weatherford International, Grey Wolf, Trinidad, Shell,
Baker etc. POTS also offer live well intervention courses as well IADC courses.
As the team behind POTS initiative are, highly experienced and have thorough knowledge on all
the aspects of conducting IWCF courses and other related drilling programs; you can be rest
assured that the programs will be conducted strictly as per the guidelines of IWCF-UK. However,
for us to survive, your unstinted cooperation and support is essential. We hope that we will
receive that in abundance from you and your esteemed organization.
Our Instructors/Assessors
Our lead instructor Kanwal Panaich, had been able to achieve high success rate in IWCF courses
from 2010. He has been teaching RIG TECH Trade to most Canadian drilling Contractors.
Our team of IWCF Instructors/Assessors is approved by IWCF-UK and they are highly experienced
and qualified to deliver drilling training sessions. POTS provide up-to-date theoretical knowledge
as well as real time scenarios explained by highly experienced trainers who have up-to-date

Duration: 4 Days
Intended for: The Level 2 Drilling and Well Personnel Basic Well Control Training
for 4-days is “recommended by OGP as a basic well control
training module. It is to be taken by all members of the wellsite
Operations team working in roles which may directly contribute to
the creation, detection or control of a well influx” (page 9, OGP
Report 476). This course is also designed to give potential well
control certification candidates an awareness well control Theory,
Practices and Equipment as a preparation prior to taking levels
3 & 4.
The delegates who have little or no industry experience and
require a greater depth of theoretical and practical knowledge in
achieving a better understanding of drilling equipment, drilling
practices and the common problems associated with drilling
operations can also attend this introductory course.
Positions suited to
Drilling Level 2:
1. Assistant to Wellsite Supervisor or Wellsite Drilling Engineer
2. Wellsite and office based Operations Geologist

Successful completion of all the three components will result in IWCF Level 3 certification with 2 years validity. Course Content: 1. Well control equipment 2. API Recommended Practices and API Specifications 3. Introduction to formation pressures and strengths 4. Hydrostatic pressure 5. Dynamic pressure 6. Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) 7. Gas law and fluid behaviour 8. Causes of kicks 9. Kick indications 10. Shut-in procedures 11. MAASP 12. Compensating for choke line friction 13. Riser margin 14. IWCF kill sheets for vertical wells 15. Kill methods and kill problems 16. Well control in deviated wells 17. IWCF kill sheets for deviated to horizontal wells 18. Exercise and IWCF practical test
  • 8. 3. IWCF LEVEL 4Surface & Subsea DRILLING WELL CONTROL COURSE Supervisors Training Duration: 5 Days Intended for: This course has been designed for Drilling Supervisors, Well Engineers, OIM and others with a requirement to hold an IWCF Well Control certificate. Course Overview: This course has been designed on Certification Standards based on a detailed analysis of the well control knowledge and the practical tasks have to master in order to perform their job responsibilities as Supervisor and others who required holding an IWCF Well Control certificate. The standards have been devised so that the measurement of their skills and knowledge can be assessed systematically. Course objectives:  The objective of Well Control Course, is to provide delegates with a good understanding of drilling operations,  Maintenance of wells,  Advanced knowledge and safe operation of well control equipment techniques,  Good understanding in preventative well control measures,  Recognition of well control events,  Measurement of well control parameters and proper response to observations,  Closing in Blowout prevention equipment to stop unwanted formation of fluids, gaining understanding in using the various well control techniques in a controlled manner to regain primary well control.
