Paul met with the elders from the church in Ephesus in Miletus during his journey. He warned them that false teachers would arise from within the church to distort the truth. Paul emphasized preaching the word of God and shepherding the flock with humility, even through hardships. He declared himself innocent of any wrongdoing in teaching the people everything that God had revealed to him through the gospel.
5. Acts 19:35-41
• “The city clerk quieted the crowd and said: "Men
of Ephesus…you ought to be quiet and not do
anything rash…39 If there is anything further you
want to bring up, it must be settled in a legal
assembly. 40 As it is, we are in danger of being
charged with rioting because of today's events. In
that case we would not be able to account for
this commotion, since there is no reason for it."
41 After he had said this, he dismissed the
assembly.”
6. Acts 20:1, Off To Macedonia
• Acts 20:1 When the uproar had ended, Paul

• Acts 20:4-6 He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus
from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica,
Gaius from Derbe, Timothy also, and Tychicus and
Trophimus from the province of Asia. 5 These men went on
ahead and waited for us at Troas. 6 But we sailed from
Philippi after the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and five days
later joined the others at Troas, where we stayed seven
days.
• Seems like Luke was separated vs.4, and now regroups vs.5
• Remember back in; Acts 18:18 Paul stayed on in Corinth
for some time. Then he left the brothers and sailed for
Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila….

12. Acts 20:7,
The First Day Of The Week
• 1st NT use of “the first day of the week” was

Bible Knowledge Commentary
• Bible Knowledge Commentary, on Acts 20:8-10, says,
“The presence of many lamps would contribute to a
soporific atmosphere because the lamps consumed
oxygen. Probably crowded conditions exacerbated the
condition.
• “A young man named Eutychus (lit., "fortunate")
proved to be true to his name. Luke, the physician,
affirmed that Eutychus was picked up dead after he
had fallen from a third-story window. It was normal for
the larger rooms to be on the top floor of a building
(see comments on Acts 1:13). After the manner of
Elijah and Elisha (1 Kings 17:21; 2 Kings 4:34-35), Paul
embraced Eutychus and the young man came alive.”

• Acts 20:13-15 Evidently Paul remained in Troas longer
than he originally planned (v. 7). To compensate for the
delay he sent the rest of the party on ahead. The journey
across land from Troas to Assos is much shorter than by
sea. By this arrangement Paul was able to stay a bit longer
in Troas. They sailed from Assos to Mitylene... Chios...
Samos and Miletus. The voyage to the last three stops took
one day each.
21. Acts 20:14-16, Assos To Miletus

come when they will not endure
sound doctrine; but wanting to
have their ears tickled, they will
accumulate for themselves
teachers in accordance to their
