2. Fightmusicpiracy.com
‘Its hard to make music without
instruments’, this is the only text on the
poster and is in the middle so that it grabs
the readers attention immediately.
The text suggests that if music piracy carries
on it causes the artists to not be able to
make music, due to them making no
income from their albums/singles. This is
because illegally downloading music is free,
creating no profit for the band or artist.
The artist in the main photo is sitting on the
ground with dirty clothes on and a variety of pans
using them as instruments. This alarms the reader
as they do not think this could be the result and
also that in their image, music artists do not look
like that.
Fightmusicpiracy.com is showing a very
exaggerated view on music piracy to shock their
audience and grab their attention. That if it is not
stopped they are damaging people dreams/lives.
3. MTV against piracy
MTV have used a shocking image to grab the
attention for their audience. A photo of a young
boy in his bedroom listening to music seems very
normal however he is wearing a mask associated
with thieves.
This shows the audience that even thought they
are illegally downloading music from the comfort
of their own bedroom, they are still classified as a
thief.
The text at the bottom of the poster, ‘You’re an
ordinary thief, if you’re listening to illegally
downloading music.’ is not the main highlight of
the poster but it is still there to tell them if they
have not gathered from the photo.
MTV is promoting this so it will instantly address
the targeted audience (teenagers) and this will
help the young audience to spread the
information as it is well known music/tv channel.
Creating the teenager to think it is a serious
matter if MTV are involved in stopping it.
4. Supporting the artists
The large main photo in the centre of the poster is
quite shocking as it is a picture of a hand covered
in blood, holding a phone. The background colour
is red which suggests dangers and warning.
The phone is black and stands out on the lighter
back ground to grab the audiences attention.
Within it says. ‘No files found…’. This shows the
reader that if you illegally download music you are
taking someone's personal information/ideas
without asking. This is alarming as it is reversed,
the reader feels like they are being stolen from
and it shows them how they would like it.
I think they are aiming this poster campaign at a
large range of people as they are all involved and
they all have mobile phones/ipods with personal
information on.
The text at the bottom of the poster, ‘Support
your artists, Support your developers, Purchase
their work.’ is addressing the readers as they are
using sympathy to attract their attention. Making
them feel like if they do it they are helping the
music artists.
