1. After listening to the speech of Severn Cullis in the United National Conference on environment and
development in 1992,I have had a little change in how I think about environment.
I used to think that exhaust emission, global warming or climate change were of concerns in developed
countries and only the governments of these countries should take responsibility to solve the problems.
But when seeing the world around me was changing day by day, I notice everything are different from
my superficial thinking about environmental issues.
We can’t be observed the death and the disappearance of some animals but even we can’t see what is
happening around us. About the rise of environmental temperature, we can feel the heat which makes
our heads seem to fuming on the sweltering summer months in the crowded city. The skyscraper
chimneys discharge millions cubic meters of the emissions by all most of the factories, furthermore dust
from the transports as motorcycles which have been increasing in quantity consumed , car…. That is a
part of the reasons of the occurrence of dense fog which made the traffic become dangerous and can
make some accidents. Besides it has made the numbers of people with respiratory diseases such as
tuberculosis, lung cancer ...will be increasing now and in the future. In addition, the environmental
water is increasingly polluted such waste and untreated wastewater from the some factories … . We can
feel the pollution easily : the inky water with “a distinct aroma” and pictures about garbage floating in
the water become familiar with each of us… . What we saw ,what we are seeing and what we will see
are the replies of the nature to what we have done.
Therefore everything in life is interdependent. Our lives depend on nature and in return, human
activities can have impact on nature. We should be aware that whatever do will have influence on other
people and the entire world. Before taking any actions , we should ask ourselves whether we do will
help protect or badly affect the surrounding environment.
That is the reason why I agree with the speaker. She drew before us a world with many concerns about
the environment, human ... and she gave many interactions between human and nature. She said if we
had not yet made the world as ever return, do not destroy it.
Therefore I think that we are only one part of the world and if someone described life as a web in which
human kind and other creature are interwoven to support one another. In this sense, my life, your life or
anyone life will be a thread in this web. An individual plays an important role of life rather than destroy
it so that all of us can live in harmony together forever.
