About a girl short film analysis
The film starts with a low angle, low key lighting
shot where it shows the girl singing and dancing
on a hill. I think the meaning of this shot is to
pull you in and make you look closely at what is
happening which is a good way of grabbing your
attention. The low angled shot also works as an
establishing shot as it shows where she is and
what the place looks like.
Most of the film is shot on a canal using jump cuts
between a close up and a medium shot, this is good
because even though your just looking at the same
thing from a different angle it doesn’t get boring
where as just staying with one shot all the time it
would.
There is a two shot in the film when she is
talking to her dad in the cafe, the two shot shows
both people in the scene and it also shows you
what they’re doing. When the girl is talking about
how her mum won’t buy her anything because she has
no money it goes to an over the shoulder shot
where you can see the mum scratching a scratch
card, this shot proves her point about never
having any money.
At the end of the film it shows a close up of the
girl dropping the bag in the canal then it goes to
a low angled shot under water. The film ends with
an aerial shot showing the girl walking off. All
the shot in this scene tries to set a mood and they
show the emotion on the girls face.
All the way through the film there is dialogue and ambient sound so we can
hear the girl and it also tell us about the surroundings.

Bouncer short film analysis
The film starts with a close up which jump cuts to an
extreme close up, which is there so you can see what
the bouncer looks like and the emotion on his face.
There is ambient sound and dialogue in the start
which is in the film all the way through. The sound
and dialogue is there so you can get an understanding
of the surroundings and so you know the bouncer is
saying.
There is a two shot and a medium shot with low key
lighting that shows the bouncer splitting up a fight,
this shows the fight and what’s going on around it.
They then use close ups and freeze frames when a guy
pulls a knife out, this shows the fear of the bouncer
and gives you time to think about what is happening.
Toward the end of the film there is a lot of close up
eye-line shots when the bouncer is in the gym this
shows the power in his eyes and the emotion in his
face.

Sacrifice film analysis
The film starts with jump cuts between a close up
and a medium shot with high key lighting which shows
two men walking down a road. The two shots show what
the men look like and shows the surroundings. Then
it goes to a low angled shot which shows a group of
men talking, the low angle is good because it shows
you everything that is going on and it makes it look
more detailed.
Later on in the film it shows one of the men on the
floor after being stabbed. They use a high angled
shot that shows the man’s face, this is good because
it shows the emotion and fear on the man’s face.
Then another man appears with a weapon and tries to
hit the security man it then shows an over the
shoulder shot of the two men talking this is good as
you can see what the mean are talking about and it
means you can see if there is any sudden moves.
There is dialogue, ambient sound and incidental
music all the way through the film. The dialogue
helps you understand what is going on and the music
tells you how to feel.
