that their workers are not exposed to risks which can affect their safety and health. Thisrole is not only the workers at the place of work but
also the public. These roles and regulationsare applyto all Construction Sites in Malaysiawho cover by the Occupational Safetyand Health Act
1994, Act 514.
2.0.1 Personal Protective Equipment , PPE
Equipmentworn to minimize exposure to serious workplaceinjuries and illnesses. Items such as gloves, safety boot, safety helmet, respirators and vests.Allpersonal
protective equipmentshould should fit well and be comfortable to wear. If the personalprotective equipmentdoes not fit properly,it can make the difference betweenbeing
safely covered ordangerouslyexposed.
Safety helmets
made up of High density polyethylene (HDPE), Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and
Polycarbonate (PC). Helps to protect people’s head from falling object and also spread
over the residual force impact to the head.
Lighter colour to provide better heat reflection andgood conspicuity. Different colours to
indicate people Yellow are commonly use by worker, white by Engineers or Architects, red
for safety agent.
Gloves
protect against injury from cuts, scrapes and breaks, plus chemical and liquid splashes
and spills
Types : Chemical resistant glove, Water-based polyurethane glove
