2. One of our iconic shots
will feature a close up of
one of the victims with
half of Andrew’s face
behind them. This
conforms to a typical
psychological horror, as
it suggests the
antagonist is always
watching as is almost
‘getting to your head’
We will also feature a close up of Andrew in the bath, in
which he will be seen rising out of the water. The contrast
of being wet, to dry could imply how easily he becomes a
different personality.
Towards the end of the trailer
Andrew will reveal his identity
to the audience by taking off
his disguise via a close up. A
blue and a red light will be
used to show his mixed
emotions and how he is having
trouble mentally.
Using a crane shot, Andrew will be seen walking towards
the front of the church, this shot will make Andrew appear
small and vulnerable, as religion usually suggests purity.
3. A tracking shot will be used to show Andrew dragging a
weapon or a body away. Andrew will be seen in the
middle of the screen to suggest his power and so that he
is the point of focus, to show it was him who is
responsible.
This shot is unique as it is fast pace with blackouts edited
on top. In the trailer it will be the first shot we see of a
weapon and of action happening building up the fear. The
way it is filmed will also include a lot of thought from how
we first follow the weapon dragging against the floor in a
close up to how it switches to tracking him dragging it in a
mid shot.
One of the shots we got inspiration from is a scene from
Kill Bill where it tracks the killer from behind. This flows
very nicely with the closeup and we would like to create
our scene in this way. Another influence we will drag in is
clips from the the BBC drama trailers.
4. Practise shots
Using a coloured strobe light we were able to contrast together both red and blue.
The red suggests the anger of this character and could represent an ominous and
mysterious atmosphere . The blue behind suggests the coldness of this character
and could illustrate how they are frozen into this mental state. We will also take into
consideration uses plain blue and red sheeting which goes over the lights. Lighting
is important for us as we would really like to pay around with shadowing and low
key lighting to create our villain showing both sides of their personality disorder.
5. Previous 5 shots
1)Long shot of the church- we felt this shoot was too dull and simplistic.Instead we changed it to a
tracking shot of Andrew walking down the aisle. It will then keep switching to him dragging a large
hammer.
2)Half of victim face in darkness- We felt this shot could be made more complex by having a close up of
the victim's face and Andrew(wearing a mask) would be behind him showing only half of his face. This
shot will reveal what Andrew is doing.
3)Andrew having a breakdown against the wall. We decided that this was to cliche’ having it against the
wall. Instead he will be inside the bath tube (coming out of the water). We felt this would look more
complex. Most of this shot will be silent other than the splash sound this will portray the frustration he
has inside him.
4)Andrew dragging weapon in a tracking shot. -We kept this the same.
5)Andrew reveals his true self by taking off his disguise in a close up. - We kept this the same.
