2. What is the small intestine and what does it do?
The small intestine is a hollow tube about 20 feet
long that runs from the stomach to the beginning
of the large intestine. The small intestine breaks
down food from the stomach and absorbs much
of the nutrients from the food.
3. The parts of the small intestine
There are 3 parts to the small intestine they are
called the Duodenum , the Jejunum and the
Ileum
4. What blood does for the intestine
The blood cleans out the waste as food travels
through the body down to the intestine to
digest.
5. The Last step
After food is processed in the small intestine, it passes into
the large intestine, also called the large bowel or colon. The
large intestine, which is about 5 feet long, extracts most of
the water from this food and sends it to the body the
remaining material passes through the colon and out of the
body as what comes out of your bottom
