Part 1
1. Learning fast, I usually skim books instead of really read them, because
reading isn’t my favorite thing.
2. I do usually memorize facts for biology instead of completely understand the
material.
3. Math has never been my best subject. It takes me longer than others to learn
and understand it.
4. My phone while studying for any course always distracts me. I’m also
distracted by my thoughts.
5. Metacognition, sometimes I think I do better on my history exams than i
actually do.
Part2
Shallow processing will not help me in any course because I need to comprehend
information that is taught and not just memorize it.
To use deep processing in my courses I need to use knowledge learning now and
relate it to previous knowledge to help me understand the information better and
also refresh my memory.
Part 3
Elaboration, Distinctive, Personal, and Appropriate to Retrieval & Application:
For my biology course I was going to memorize the information, instead I need to
read the chapters in the book, write down what I remember, and check it.
Part 4
Deep Processing Principles:
I need to make up questions while reading my history book. For biology I need to
write down information and link it with other facts that go together. I also need to
think about key concepts for biology and write down little side notes. For history I
need to practice learning and answering questions in short answer form.
Part 5
To avoid blowing an exam:
I need to go to class, take notes, review all exams, ask my professor questions, and
commit time to study for all of my courses.
