German emeaRAID teams up with RELDATA
Second Major European RAID Manaufacturer Partners With Reldata to Provide
Unified IP Storage Solution
Stuttgart, 15 May 2006 - Reldata, provider of unified IP-based SAN/NAS storage
gateways, has signed its second major distribution agreement this month with
emeaRAID, a Germany based manufacturer of bespoke RAID array solutions.
emeaRAID believes that the deal will allow them to satisfy growing customer
demand for storage consolidation and virtualisation with a superior bundled
unified IP storage solution at €40-50k under the price of the main competing
products.
“We have a number of large accounts in banks, ISPs and corporate customers
across Europe where we know that Reldata’s products will sell. And this will help
us to move up the food chain from selling RAID arrays into selling IP storage
networking solutions,” comments Paul Shelley, managing director at emeaRAID.
“But to sell into our existing accounts we needed a product that we could trust
and that could provide converged iSCSI SAN/NAS capabilities with an enterprise
grade performance. We are confident we have found what we need in the
RELDATA 9200.”
The RELDATA 9200 unified IP storage gateway frees IT managers from the
separate integration and management of iSCSI SAN and NAS systems. The
gateway provides a single appliance to deliver high performance file (NFS and
CIFS) and block (iSCSI or IP SAN) storage capacity anywhere across a company’s
existing IP/Ethernet infrastructure. At the back-end, the appliance empowers IT
managers with free vendor choice when adding further storage capacity. It
provides vendor agnostic connectivity to Fibre Channel, SCSI, iSCSI disk arrays
and tape storage. The use of virtualisation allows the creation of one single
virtualised storage volume pool from which capacity can be provisioned
dynamically as either file system volumes or block level iSCSI target volumes to
hosts. In addition, the Reldata 9200 provides data protection functionality on
block and file level, including near continuous protection of volumes over IP,
using a unique incremental snapshot technology.

emeaRAID already has its first project in place for the RELDATA 9200, and in
addition to its own customer projects, it expects a significant interest from its
existing OEM partners, which include: ELD, Pyramid, Krystaltech and Lynx.
