2. Concept/Issues
It would have been impossible to imagine a challenge that
the year 2020 would bring to the world in general,
especially the UAE.
Professionals such as the Human Resource managers have
never been faced with issues and challenges such as those
wrought on the world by the Covid-19.
The economy of the United Arab Emirate was almost
crippled in the wake of the virus as employees were faced
with difficulty in the way they were forced to work from
home.
Difficulties like employee layoffs, reduction in salary and
wages, recruitment of the best talent were some of the
concerns that the HR had to reconsider
It is important to address these issues if the world must reset
to the old ways where the livelihood of workers in
organizations are not threatened by layoffs as a result of the
pandemic or the emergence of technology
3. Importance of
these issues
It is important for organizations and the HR
department to critically analyze these issues
and devise ways of solving them if the
company and the overall economy of the
UAE must flourish and survive the pandemic
The issues of the replacement of human
workers with automated systems and
machines calls for great concerns and needs
to be addressed.
Disgruntled employees are often associated
with low productivity in the organization.
There is a great deal of intangible assets
that requires proper maximization
These issues must be addressed because the number of
workers who do not feel satisfied at their workplace are
constantly on the rise all over the world.
4. Critical Perspectives
The improvement of technology can help workers with their work output and
productivity.
Instead of replacing these workers with the technology, they can be unified to
work with these technologies. This improves the work efficiency, thus one of the
goals of the HR fulfilled.
The company needs to ask questions relocated to their goals and perspectives.
The purpose of the company’s job needs to be fully reviewed so as to better align
workers objectives with that of the organizational goals.
Companies should invest in employment, training and human
development while also adopting the latest technology so
that both assets can be effectively stirred towards
productivity
5. Issues Faced by the HRM in the UAE
Wellbeing and Mental Health: Since the abrupt shift in work culture and
organizational standards, there has been a corresponding pressure in the
health of employees as well as their wellbeing.
Remote Work Management: The abrupt transition from an offline routine
to a culture of walk that is remote is not an easy transition and has affected
the way HR in the UAE perform their job
The lack of Mobility: HR managers constantly lack agility. In the wake of the
corona, there has been an increase in the number of approvals required for a
decision to be made and these have led to a slower rate of data collection and
corrective measures implementation Right before the Covid-19, workers and business enterprises
were still faced with some issues which caused some major
disruptions in the state of affairs
6. An Analytical & Critical Perspective
Instead of replacing these workers with the technology, they can be unified to work
with these technologies. This improves the work efficiency, thus one of the goals of
the HR fulfilled
The communication between team members and members of the organization needs
to be improved significantly and training sessions and health talks needs to be
encouraged and provided by the HRM within organizations in the UAE
The improvement of technology can help workers with their
work output and productivity.
7. How New Jobs Are Created
The government should set up a new council who will be tasked with the job of
creating new agenda for wage, work, and the creation of jobs.
This should aim at the development of new ways of critical thinking in order to
effect change towards molding a new UAE society with great initiatives
If these are not ensured, the displacement of workers through digitalization and
automation will be enormous which might prove difficult to recover from the
joblessness.
The environment of the workers plays an important role in
terms of their efficiency so this must be ensured when new
jobs are being created
8. Recommendations & Implications to the UAE
Policy making
Instead of technology to replace humans, they should be modified to help humans
instead. The UAE government should support and promote industrialization and
cut down on tax related to equipment that are related to tech and machineries.
Most of the asset of companies in the UAE are intangible in nature. These
companies need to focus on how to convert these intangible assets into tangible
resources.
Factories, land and equipment should be maximized, and the government can help
promote this movement by ensuring that their policies does not frustrate the goals
of land and machinery acquisition, human resource and job creation
The UAE government promotes the welfare of companies and
employees by establishing the ministry of Happiness which aims
at ensuring job satisfaction in all emirate empires

Editor's Notes
There has been a swift shift in the work culture of many organizations. The top priority of most Human Resource professionals has become crisis response in ways that ensured that employees in organizations are kept engaged and committed to the purpose of the company.
The migration of companies towards green energy, technological changes and advancement towards cutting-edge research, and the Covid-19 have all contributed towards the disruption and distortion of the work done and there has been a swift increase in the demand for digital skills by corporations since working from home became the norm for most of them, causing a corresponding increase in number of online tutorials and training.
Workers can be encouraged to work from home, places that are cheaper with respect to internet connection so as to boost output and prevent interruptions and disruptions in work flow
It is crucial for these issues to be addressed as they have led to different levels of disruptions and problems in companies around the world as well as great economic peril.
The company needs to ask questions related to their goals and perspectives. The purpose of the company’s job needs to be fully reviewed so as to better align workers objectives with that of the organizational goals
Since there has been an enormous amount of social disruption by the Covid-19 which has triggered a lot of unemployment in the UAE, the government must adopt policies that includes investment in job creation, quality and safety at workplace, eliminating temporary work, and other labor market policies.
How best the HR can invest in in the workers especially their safety and health is crucial to the success of the organizational success. The health and wellbeing of workers should be a priority
