carried out by a qualified
person and must cover all
parts of the manbasket.

• It is mandatory to test the
crane basket every time
before a lift is performed.
• Test weights should be
rated 1.25 times the
capacity of the basket.
7

basket is certified by a third

guide travel and operation of any mobile crane, whether
working indoors or outdoors.
• Also, the workers in the basket and the crane driver
should be in constant contact (visually, walkie-talkie,
etc.).
• Remember to keep the crane operator’s manual on hand
at the job site.
16
17. Crane Safety
• Do check the crane or outriggers when the boom is
elevated for use, regardless of whether or not
someone is in the basket.
• Tag lines should be used to manipulate or control
manbasket from outside unless their use creates an
unsafe condition.
• Exercise extreme caution to prevent hoisting,
swinging, or lowering into or onto any obstructions.
17
18. Bad Weather Conditions

located in or attached to the man basket, and do not
exceed the rated capacity of the man basket.
• As far as possible, do not carry persons and loads
at the same time in the man baskets. Use separate
trips wherever possible.
