t for healing for Patty Ramos who fell last Wednesday and
fractured the upper part of her right arm. Also pray for
continued healing from her neck surgery in July and from
frozen shoulder pain in her left arm;
t for good results from an MRI that John Feyereisen had
yesterday and that the tumor has not grown and laser
ablation in Detroit will be a good option for him;
t for Tom Mix, brother of Phyllis Mars, who has been
diagnosed with prostate cancer;
t for Jenn VanDyke’s grandma Gloria Stegenga, who has
Alzheimers and Parkinsons and is now under hospice care;
t for speedy healing for Gwen Klemm who had successful
hip replacement on September 12th;
t for Annette Stone & family as her mom, Gloria Maichele,
nears the end of her life on earth;
t for Ella Ten Harmsel’s parents who are both not doing
well and also for Mike’s mom who is now under Hospice
care;
t for Matt VanderPlow’s dad, Tom, who will be having

the table outside the sanctuary. The deadline

Jr. & Sr. High girls are invited to an Apple Picking/Baking event this
Saturday, September 24, from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Meet at the church at 3:00
and we’ll be taking the church van to Crane Orchards then to the Cook’s
home for baking! Bring $5 for the cost of apples and pizza. If you have

NATIONAL LIFE CHANGE 2016 - Join Right to Life of Holland Area at the
National Life Chain on Sunday, October 2, from 2-3 pm beginning near 16th
Street and Fairbanks in Holland. Life Chain is a pro-life, peaceful, prayerful,
public witness on behalf of the unborn at risk of elective abortion. Signs to
hold during the prayer vigil will be provided. This is a PRAYER VIGIL so
they ask for those that attend to be silent or speak quietly. NO SIGNS that
say HONK to support!
GBC TRIP - Grace Bible College is hosting a wonderful Christian travel
opportunity to Italy this coming May (2017) and would like to invite you and

SECRET HEART SISTERS Secret Heart Sisters kicks off tomorrow, 9/19, from 6:30-8:00 pm
at the church. If you have a heart for encouraging others and have a passion for prayer, there
is still time to get involved! Tomorrow night you will draw a name that will be your SHS for the
year. You will pray for her on a regular basis and encourage her monthly with a card or small
gift. Registration forms are available at the Women’s Ministry Counter that you can complete
and put in Lisa Kimbel’s or Connie Bean’s mail box TODAY or give to them personally. If you
would like to participate but can’t make it tomorrow night, just give the from to Lisa or Connie
today.
PARKSIDE BOOK CLUB Parkside’s last Book Club, led by Tim Derks, will be held this
Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Board Room. We are reviewing the book
“Where Is God When It Hurts?” by Philip Yancey. The reading assignment for this week is
Chapters 18-20 - “How does Faith Help?” Read as much as you can and highlight the
sentences that you find meaningful as we will use those quotes for the discussion.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY The Fall Women’s Bible Study will be an 8-week verse-by-verse
study of Philippians. It will be held at the church starting this Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm and
continuing through November 17. (There will be no study on October 20 due to a LIFT event.)
Please sign up at the Women’s Ministry Counter. Books are $10 each. If you ordered a book
it is available for pick up on top of the mailboxes in the fellowship area. Please make
checks payable to Susan Spykerman. Contact Sue or Cheryl Tooke with any questions.
GRACE BIBLE COLLEGE WOMEN’S CONNECTION You are invited to join other Western
Michigan women for the annual Fall Kick-off Brunch by Grace Bible College Women’s

3. CELEBRATING GOD’S GRACE…
THROUGH THE GIFTS OF HIS PEOPLE…
A family in our congregation, who wants to remain anonymous, has
offered to give a matching gift of up to half of our remaining mortgage of
$370,000. This family will match up to $185,000. The matching project
would be until the end of this year with the last Sunday to give being
December 18, 2016. The Board has unanimously agreed to
$50,000 from our General Fund into the Building Fund to provide us a
challenge of seeing the congregation raise as much as possible of the
remaining $135,000 over the new few months. The project looks like this:
Mortgage Remaining: $370,000
Matching Gift: $185,000
Transfer from General Fund $ 50,000
Congregational Challenge $135,000
Please prayerfully consider designating funds to the building fund over
the next 4 months (with December 18 being the last day to give to this
campaign.) The Board will be giving updates from the pulpit and
communicating our progress in the bulletin. We give God the glory in
working through His people, and we praise Him for this opportunity to
partner together in removing this mortgage payment from our debt. We
anticipate great things happening at Parkside as we look to the future in
continuing to share the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do as His Church –
the Body of Christ.
FAMILY BIBLE HOUR ADULT
CLASS OFFERINGS
Plan to attend Family Bible Hour each Sunday
from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In addition to classes from
infant to Junior High, the following adult and

EXPLORE THE BOOK-NEW TESTAMENT - Taught by Pastor
Gary & Kurt Postma - Join us as we walk through an overview of the
New Testament books. We will highlight the main theme of each
book and give the general thrust of its content. Outlines will be
provided weekly. (Meeting in Room A3 in the New Addition)
BELIEFS TO LIVE BY - Taught by Jay Riemersma and Tyler Cook
We’ll be looking at key questions like, “Who is God?,” “What is
Salvation?” and “How Do I Know the Bible is true?” These and
other questions will be covered as we consider how to build a deeper
understanding of our faith. (Meeting in Room S1—the Youth Room)
EPHESIANS - WALK - Taught by Bryan Booker and John Tooke -
Join us for a walk through the book of Ephesians where we will study
God’s Word, live God’s Word and share God’s Word. (Meeting in
Room A2 in the New Addition)
THE GRACE BY WHICH WE STAND - Taught by Harold
Kimbel, Pastor Craig Apel and Allen Riemersma - We will discuss
who God is, God’s plan for creating man, His plan for Israel and the
fulfillment of that plan, the unveiling of the Grace in which we stand
in addition to personal applications from both the Old and New
Testament. (Meeting in Room A1—the Conference Room)
WOMEN’S FAMILY BIBLE HOUR CLASS - Taught by Lisa
Kimbel and Sabrina Preikszas - We will be going through the book
The Ten Women of the Bible by Max Lucado. They lived in a differ-
ent world other than our own, but we find ourselves facing the same
issues they faced. A study of Sarah, Abigail, Esther, and more.
(Meeting in Room F2 off the Fellowship Hall )
We are very excited to announce Parkside Bible Church will
participate in Franklin Graham's Decision America Tour and be
represented on the steps of our state capitol on Tuesday, October
4th beginning at 12 Noon, and all Parkside members and friends
are invited. We be joining Franklin Graham and thousands of
other Christians from Michigan as Mr. Graham shares the gospel
and challenges Christians to pray fervently and faithfully for our
nation. Throughout 2016, Mr. Graham has been holding prayer
rallies in all 50 state capitals. We have arranged to use the church
van which will carry 15 passengers, and there are others who have
offered to drive their own car as needed. Please contact John

4. ALL CHURCH FAMILY PICNIC
At Wendt Park, located just west of the church
Sunday, September 25th 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
SIGN UP TODAY!!!!
It’s more than just a picnic! It’s game time for everyone! All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.
There is something for everyone so get involved and have some fun! Below are your choices for activities from
4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please sign up for your choices and your children's choices at the table in the fellowship
area today.
Ages 0-3 year olds will have a fenced in playground area at Wendt Park with volunteers to supervise. Please
be sure to sign them up so we know how many supervisors we need for that station. Check out all the fun stuff
we have planned below. Make sure to sign up for what will be an exciting hour of action-packed fun!
3 on 3 Basketball. Middle schoolers up to the old guys will play a round robin tournament.
Volleyball for everyone! Wendt Park has a court and all we need are six
players on each side (or more if need be).
Pickleball is the rage for oldsters but really is fun for everyone. Want to learn
about the game and try it out? Bill and Deb Large will be giving a short
instruction and rotating players in to try it out!
Whiffleball! Ages 4 and up can sign up for this! We will split into two games if
we have lots of players. Linda Booker and the junior high girls will be leading this up.
We will have a tee so everyone will get some hits!
Sequence for the sophisticated no-sweat group! Sit at a picnic table and grab a glass of tea
and go at it. A fun strategic board game with a prize for whoever wins the most games.
Get your game face on and enjoy some good company.
But wait . . . . . THERE IS MORE! ALL-CHURCH KICKBALL TOURNAMENT 5:00-6:00 pm
ALL AGES CAN SIGN UP! We hope to get enough signed up for four teams and have a
single elimination tournament. When you sign up, be sure to include your age so we can
divide the teams up evenly with both young and young-at-heart.
And . . . from 6:00-7:00 p.m., it’s PICNIC time! Meat, drinks and table service will be provided.
Bring a dish to pass and a lawn chair if you want!
