Business Development Manager
Spinnaker is seeking a high-energy, experienced, and passionate Business Development Manager who will work
with the leadership team to identify appropriate business opportunities from key prospects. The right candidate
will prospect for potential leads, uncover needs within those prospects and qualify those leads to a broader team
at the company.
The right person enjoys being on the phone to identify key stake holders & opportunities, deliver initial pitches and
set follow on meetings for others to attend and close deals. In this position you will have a critical role in the
strategic plan and growth strategy by researching business trends and information, identifying potential
leads, developing productive relationships with key decision makers at prospects, and setting meetings where
business will be sold.
The successful candidate will have a referenceable track record in value based selling and achieving meeting and
revenue targets. He or she will also have experience engaging with senior executives from a variety of industry
sectors. The candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of opportunities from prospecting until
formal engagement. By articulating the value proposition of the company, they will help executives realize the
financial benefits and transformational value to their business offered by a relationship with Spinnaker.
Requirements and Responsibilities
• You must have a terrific and persuasive phone presence. You should like to be on the phone and talk to
people you've never met to identify needs and set meetings. People enjoy talking to you too and listen
more than they hang up.
• You need to be able to talk intelligently about general supply chain topics, including: knowledge of reverse
logistic; returns management; or remanufacturing, without being an expert in them.
• You must be able to deliver our core messages and quickly build credibility in the sales process.
• You should have the ability to generate your own leads using various tools such as LinkedIn, CRM, general
web research, financial reports, and industry publications.
• You have a proven track record of securing meetings w/top level decision makers.
• You can consistently make 100 calls per week and record data accurately about those calls which means
you can efficiently track information and maintain data that are key indicators of performance and success
in the job.
• As part of the business development team, you are key to the sales objectives but are ok not being the
one who closes the sale.
• You consistently work effectively with the team and prospects to identify and communicate needs and
schedule appointments.
• You enjoy supporting marketing, advertising and promotional activities overall.

• Don't mind (and may even enjoy) weekly pipeline meetings with the team to provide updates, suggest
next steps, and generally track opportunities through the pipeline.
• Use in-depth knowledge and insight of key competitors to create compelling reasons for prospective
clients to engage with the company.
• Articulate to clients the benefits of the Spinnaker approach and educate them about new ideas and new
ways of thinking.
• Communicate the status of opportunities, clearly articulate next steps and discuss potential risks with the
wider team in weekly meetings.
Skills
• B.Sc. (or higher) degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain. MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 2+ years of demonstrable business-to-business solution sales
• Proven track record of reaching sales targets and KPI’s
• Comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the business development process
• Solid financial, business and industry insights and consultative selling skills
• Well organized and methodical in how business is conducted
• Proven ability to create compelling written collateral in a concise manner
• Self-motivated with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to listen to, lead and influence senior management
• Enthusiastic about contributing to our growing business, its brand, processes and client base
• Established network of business contacts
