MY EXPERIENCE(S)/HISTORY · Faced hard times in personal life leading me to join the armed forces. · 4 Years in Navy (Master-at-Arms) · 1 Year Jail Corrections Officer (Meeting many people in need of help) REMAINED ENTHUSIASTIC AND DIDN’T QUIT! 2. MY OBSTACLES (Question 1) · Sudden death of my Grandfather(to cancer)! Directly followed by the sudden death of my Aunt due to violence. Led to me juggling a fulltime job (to pay bills), a fulltime school schedule and taking care of my aunts fully disabled Son(my cousin) while she was in the hospital fighting for her life. Causing a strain on my academic life due to the added stress. He requires around the clock care (washing, food preparation, feeding, changing, supervision, financial care…etc) which required me to miss many days of school. I failed more than a few classes that stripped me of my financial aid. Joined the armed forces and proceeded to obtain my Associated degree through an unconventional route. Will not quit!!! 3. F. HISTORY, CULTURE & ENVIRONMENT · My grandmother and great grandmother were both nurses learned and loved to help others at an early age. · My culture and spiritual upbringing taught me to never quit. To find another way to beat adversity and persevere. · My latest environment working alongside the sheriff’s office assisting with inmates has given me a need and want to help individuals suffering from mental illnesses. 4.
