Why is this training
• This program will lead you to:
• Increase in competency skills
• Increase in focus and concentration
• Increase in sharpness and capacity of your memory
• Improves speed, hand, eye and brain coordination
• Enhance the 3 dimensional Analyzing Power
• Improve Matching & Projection skills
• Increases alertness as one develops speed
• Feel that the most enjoyable part in the puzzle, the process of
solving, not the solution itself.
• Realize that “THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY…”
4
The inventor
• Erno Rubik was born in 13 July
1944, in Budapest, Hungry during
World War II.
• His mother was a poet, his father
was an aircraft engineer.
• Rubik studied sculpture in college.
• He remained there after his studies
to teach interior design as
professor of architecture.
5
Facts about the Cube
• 3-D mechanical puzzle originally called the “Magic Cube”
• Developed by Erno Rubik in 1974, Took him 1 month to solve.
• First magic cube is sold in Budapest in 1977.
• The puzzle was licensed by Rubik to Ideal Toy Corp. and hit
the European toy store shelves in 1980. As of January 2009,
350 million cubes have been sold, making it the best-selling toy
in the world.
• There are many algorithms to solve the cube,
• algorithm = a list of well-defined instructions for performing a
task from a given initial state, through well-defined successive
states, to a desired end-state. Or sequence of steps to get
desired effect . 6
Facts about the Cube
• There are total 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 permutations of a cube
(43*1018=43 quintillion possible orientations of the cube).
• That is 43 quintillion, 252 quadrillion, 3 trillion, 274 billion, 489 million,
856 thousand.
• lining these permutations up, with an average 57mm cube, there would
be enough cubes to cover the earth with 273 layers of Rubik’s cube.
• Allowing a second for each turn, it would take 1.4 trillion year (1.4*1012)
to go through all the possible configuration (longer than the age of the universe )
• The youngest person to solve the cube was 3 year old from China
• First world championship took place in 1982 in Budapest, winner solving
it in 22.95 seconds.

Rubik’s Cube Pieces
• Centre pieces with one color
• 6 center pieces in the center of each side.
• Centre pieces do not move and represent the color of their side.
• Edge pieces with two color
• 12 edge pieces with 2 color.
• Located in the middle rows.
• Corner pieces with three color
• 8 color pieces locate in the corners.
10
Rubik’s Cube Pieces
• The colour of each face is the colour of the centre.
• Each of these faces can be moved either Clockwise or
Counter clockwise as if you were looking at it.
Centres are stationary Corners and edges are movables
And can be in any place

11
Rubik’s Cube Faces
12
Rubik’s Cube Pieces movement
• When making the moves below hold the cube full-face
front with whit on top. Dark gray on the pictures means the
color does not matter. Each move is a I/4 turn rotation.
• The capital letter indicate clockwise move when looking
at that face directly
• The small letter indicate counter-clockwise move when
looking at that face directly.
13
Ways to solve the cube
• Just do that simple way...
• Dismantle and reassemble
• Train yourself to solve it the right way
14
Before starting “optional”
• Disassemble position, rotate face 45o degrees, and push the
two bottom cubies down with one thumb and lift the edge with
your other thumb. You may need some force. I do not
recommend to use a screwdriver for this.
• Leave one edge out. Lubricate with silicone spray in the open
hole. Only apply silicone in the inside not on the outside.
• Assemble the edge and let the silicone dry for 15 min. (do not
apply silicone spray in the centerpiece on the screw).
• Clean with towel.
• Do regular movement sequence like (F2 R2 B2 L2) x6 on
each side, it must be turned for a while (1-3 hours).

16
Constructing The Cross on Top Layer
• Put the Upper edges in the correct place with the
side centres.
• Don’t worry about any layer except the upper White.
• Pay attention to side colours, this should give you a
short “T” on each side in the top two layers.
17
Constructing The Cross on Top Layer
Make the white “PLUS” sign

Constructing The Top Layer
Permute the corners
21
Constructing The Middle layer
• Move one of the edge pieces on the bottom level
until it make a large “T” on one side.
• If the other colour of the bottom of the “T” is yellow,
find another edge to make a long “T” shape.
• The “T” colour is now your Front side.
• If the bottom of the “T” has the colour of the Right side do
this: ( d r D R D F d f )
• If the bottom of the “T” has the colour of the Left side do
this: ( D L d l d f D F )
• Repeat the above step, so that you have the middle
layer complete.

24
Constructing The Lower Layer
• As soon as the first part of the Yellow Plus appears; rotate the cube to place that part (angle)
in the Back /upper/ left direction.
• Just keep doing it until you get the yellow plus.
• Flip the cube so the Upper is the Yellow side and solve for the Yellow Plus.
• This sequence (F R U r u f) will cycle the edges between the following yellow face results:
• You may get a single yellow centre only, just do the sequence again.
25
Adjusting/Correcting the Upper edges
• If you get 2 edges (adjacent) in
place and two out of place, rotate
the cube to place that 2 edges in
the Back /upper/ left corner.
Red Green
• If you get 2 edges (none
adjacent) in place, rotate the
cube to get one of front side
and one on the back side.
Blue
26
Adjusting/Correcting the Upper edges
• This sequence (R U r U R UU r) will exchange the edges position; keep the
front the same throughout the moves and keep doing this ( and observe the
edges sequence) until you get all edges on the correct sequence, then rotate
the upper layer until the edges are correct.
Red Green Red Green
27
Moving the Upper Corners into correct places
• Find one corner that is in the correct place (If no corner is found correct, do the
sequence (U R u l U r u L)
• once then find one corner that is in place, it does not have to have the correct
orientation.
• This sequence (U R u l U r u L) will rotate the other three corners.
• Rotate the cube to place that corner in the Front/Upper/Right corner.
OR OR
28
Moving the Upper Corners into correct places
• keep doing this sequence (U R u l U r u L) and observe the corners pieces until you
get all corners on the its correct places, regardless of their orientation.

29
Correct the Upper Corners.
• You will have anywhere from 1 to 4 corners that need correcting.
• Start with one corner in the Upper/Right of the Front, keep the front the same throughout the
moves, and complete this sequence (r d R D) as many times as you need to correct that
corner.
• When the Yellow side of the Front/Upper/Right corner is correct, move the upper side counter
clockwise until the next corner that needs to be corrected is in the Front/Upper/Right.
• Repeat the sequence (r d R D) again till finishing all the corners.
Red
30
Correct the Upper Corners.
• It will seem like you are messing up, but it will correct itself
eventually. Be sure to complete the four step sequence each time.
• Once the last corner is done, move the layers until it is solved!

  • 4. Why is this training • This program will lead you to: • Increase in competency skills • Increase in focus and concentration • Increase in sharpness and capacity of your memory • Improves speed, hand, eye and brain coordination • Enhance the 3 dimensional Analyzing Power • Improve Matching & Projection skills • Increases alertness as one develops speed • Feel that the most enjoyable part in the puzzle, the process of solving, not the solution itself. • Realize that “THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY…” 4
  • 5. The inventor • Erno Rubik was born in 13 July 1944, in Budapest, Hungry during World War II. • His mother was a poet, his father was an aircraft engineer. • Rubik studied sculpture in college. • He remained there after his studies to teach interior design as professor of architecture. 5
  • 6. Facts about the Cube • 3-D mechanical puzzle originally called the “Magic Cube” • Developed by Erno Rubik in 1974, Took him 1 month to solve. • First magic cube is sold in Budapest in 1977. • The puzzle was licensed by Rubik to Ideal Toy Corp. and hit the European toy store shelves in 1980. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have been sold, making it the best-selling toy in the world. • There are many algorithms to solve the cube, • algorithm = a list of well-defined instructions for performing a task from a given initial state, through well-defined successive states, to a desired end-state. Or sequence of steps to get desired effect . 6
  • 7. Facts about the Cube • There are total 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 permutations of a cube (43*1018=43 quintillion possible orientations of the cube). • That is 43 quintillion, 252 quadrillion, 3 trillion, 274 billion, 489 million, 856 thousand. • lining these permutations up, with an average 57mm cube, there would be enough cubes to cover the earth with 273 layers of Rubik’s cube. • Allowing a second for each turn, it would take 1.4 trillion year (1.4*1012) to go through all the possible configuration (longer than the age of the universe ) • The youngest person to solve the cube was 3 year old from China • First world championship took place in 1982 in Budapest, winner solving it in 22.95 seconds. 7

  • 10. Rubik’s Cube Pieces • Centre pieces with one color • 6 center pieces in the center of each side. • Centre pieces do not move and represent the color of their side. • Edge pieces with two color • 12 edge pieces with 2 color. • Located in the middle rows. • Corner pieces with three color • 8 color pieces locate in the corners. 10
  • 11. Rubik’s Cube Pieces • The colour of each face is the colour of the centre. • Each of these faces can be moved either Clockwise or Counter clockwise as if you were looking at it. Centres are stationary Corners and edges are movables And can be in any place Corner Edges 11
  • 13. Rubik’s Cube Pieces movement • When making the moves below hold the cube full-face front with whit on top. Dark gray on the pictures means the color does not matter. Each move is a I/4 turn rotation. • The capital letter indicate clockwise move when looking at that face directly • The small letter indicate counter-clockwise move when looking at that face directly. 13
  • 14. Ways to solve the cube • Just do that simple way... • Dismantle and reassemble • Train yourself to solve it the right way 14
  • 15. Before starting “optional” • Disassemble position, rotate face 45o degrees, and push the two bottom cubies down with one thumb and lift the edge with your other thumb. You may need some force. I do not recommend to use a screwdriver for this. • Leave one edge out. Lubricate with silicone spray in the open hole. Only apply silicone in the inside not on the outside. • Assemble the edge and let the silicone dry for 15 min. (do not apply silicone spray in the centerpiece on the screw). • Clean with towel. • Do regular movement sequence like (F2 R2 B2 L2) x6 on each side, it must be turned for a while (1-3 hours). 15

  • 17. Constructing The Cross on Top Layer • Put the Upper edges in the correct place with the side centres. • Don’t worry about any layer except the upper White. • Pay attention to side colours, this should give you a short “T” on each side in the top two layers. 17
  • 18. Constructing The Cross on Top Layer Make the white “PLUS” sign 18
  • 19. Constructing The Cross on Top Layer 19
  • 20. Constructing The Cross on Top Layer 20
  • 21. Constructing The Top Layer Permute the corners 21
  • 22. Constructing The Middle layer • Move one of the edge pieces on the bottom level until it make a large “T” on one side. • If the other colour of the bottom of the “T” is yellow, find another edge to make a long “T” shape. • The “T” colour is now your Front side. • If the bottom of the “T” has the colour of the Right side do this: ( d r D R D F d f ) • If the bottom of the “T” has the colour of the Left side do this: ( D L d l d f D F ) • Repeat the above step, so that you have the middle layer complete. 22
  • 23. Constructing The Middle layer Green 23
  • 24. Constructing The Middle layer Red 24
  • 25. Constructing The Lower Layer • As soon as the first part of the Yellow Plus appears; rotate the cube to place that part (angle) in the Back /upper/ left direction. • Just keep doing it until you get the yellow plus. • Flip the cube so the Upper is the Yellow side and solve for the Yellow Plus. • This sequence (F R U r u f) will cycle the edges between the following yellow face results: • You may get a single yellow centre only, just do the sequence again. 25
  • 26. Adjusting/Correcting the Upper edges • If you get 2 edges (adjacent) in place and two out of place, rotate the cube to place that 2 edges in the Back /upper/ left corner. Red Green • If you get 2 edges (none adjacent) in place, rotate the cube to get one of front side and one on the back side. Blue 26
  • 27. Adjusting/Correcting the Upper edges • This sequence (R U r U R UU r) will exchange the edges position; keep the front the same throughout the moves and keep doing this ( and observe the edges sequence) until you get all edges on the correct sequence, then rotate the upper layer until the edges are correct. Red Green Red Green 27
  • 28. Moving the Upper Corners into correct places • Find one corner that is in the correct place (If no corner is found correct, do the sequence (U R u l U r u L) • once then find one corner that is in place, it does not have to have the correct orientation. • This sequence (U R u l U r u L) will rotate the other three corners. • Rotate the cube to place that corner in the Front/Upper/Right corner. OR OR 28
  • 29. Moving the Upper Corners into correct places • keep doing this sequence (U R u l U r u L) and observe the corners pieces until you get all corners on the its correct places, regardless of their orientation. Red Green Red Green 29
  • 30. Correct the Upper Corners. • You will have anywhere from 1 to 4 corners that need correcting. • Start with one corner in the Upper/Right of the Front, keep the front the same throughout the moves, and complete this sequence (r d R D) as many times as you need to correct that corner. • When the Yellow side of the Front/Upper/Right corner is correct, move the upper side counter clockwise until the next corner that needs to be corrected is in the Front/Upper/Right. • Repeat the sequence (r d R D) again till finishing all the corners. Red 30
  • 31. Correct the Upper Corners. • It will seem like you are messing up, but it will correct itself eventually. Be sure to complete the four step sequence each time. • Once the last corner is done, move the layers until it is solved! 31
