as a group of people
living in the same place
or having a particular
characteristic in common.
COMMUNITY HEALTH
COMMUNITY HEALTH is
the art and sciences of
maintaining, protecting,
and improving the health
of all members of the
community through
organized and sustained
community efforts.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
ENVIRONMENTAL
HEALTH comprises of
those aspects of human
health that are
determined by physical,
chemical, biological,
social, and psychosocial
factors in the surrounding
environment.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A
HEALTHY COMMUNITY
The Health Expert
DIRECTION: You are presently working at the World Health Organization as a
Health Expert. A number of students will interview you about community and
environmental health. Here some of the questions that you will be asked.
How do you assess if your community is healthy? What are
the characteristics of a healthy community?
What are some of the benefits that we can enjoy with a healthy
community?
How do we maintain, protect and preserve health amidst the
rising development of our community?

divided into 3 groups. Groups
will prepare and present the
following:
- Group 1: Make a poster that
can describe a community.
- Group 2: Create a slogan
that refers to community
health.
- Group 3: Create a news
reporting about
environmental health.
Set your priorities in promoting a healthier life inside a more
developed and advanced community. There are two options
in each of the category.

• Problem:
Based on the Tree Replacement Program of the Department of Public
Works and Highway, one hundred (100) seedlings/saplings/propagules
shall be planted for every tree cut within or along the road right of way
(RROW) of all DPWH-administered projects.
If there are 80 trees to be cut along Highway MN, how many seedlings or
saplings should be planted as replacement?
