1. Childhood Obesity
It is a condition in which a lot of body fat
accumulates to cause adverse effect on health
which might cut short our life or causes health
issues. “Overweight and obesity are defined by
the WHO as abnormal or excessive fat
accumulation that presents a risk to an
individual’s health”.

2. Why we are advocating?
child obesity is a vitally important issue and it is
extremely serious problem as evidenced by its
continual increase in our society as well as the
negative impacts it has on children's health and
well-being.
As an Early childhood Educator, we are really
concerned about the health and wellbeing of
children and it is essential for us to do advocacy
for obesity, bringing awareness among the
society, parents and government.
It is very important to advocate the concern of
child obesity because; it is becoming a global
health problem.
3. Facts
There has also been a dramatic increase in unhealthy weight
in children in 1978, only 15% of children were overweight or
obese.
By 2007, statistic Canada found that 29% of adolescents had
unhealthy weight. Most adolescents do not out grow this
problem and in fact, many continue to gain excess weight. If
current trends continue, by 2040, up to 70% of adults aged
40 years will be either overweight or obese”.
