Photoshop 130 Layer Composite
1. Photoshop Narrative
1. The first step for the production of this photo is loading all images, around 130, into Photoshop
as layers. To accomplish this Adobe Bridge was utilized.
2. Once in Photoshop some adjustments were made to the layers. This was accomplished by first
selecting all layers and then new adjustment layer. In this way the brightness, exposure, offset,
gamma correction were adjusted. A curve layer adjustment was also added removing some red
and green.
3. The next step involved selecting all layers except the last, and blending the layers with the
lighten setting. Following this layers 17-18 and 104-107 were deleted to remove plane trails.
4. The images were merged by going to the layer tab and to flatten image.
5. Next a background copy was made and a curves layer added above the copy. The mask was
painted totally black. White was next painted to the lower portion of the photo. Next the blue
and red curve were adjusted to remove some of the horizon’s light pollution. A Gaussian blur of
350 pixels was added to this mask. The layers were then merged.
6. The next step involved adding a vignette to the photo of -20 and a yellow filter of 36% to
neutralize some of the blue.
7. Finally, text was added to the photo. The layers were then merged into the final product.
