Game time is forfeit time – please ensure you have enough rostered
players present prior to the start of your scheduled contest.
Only a team’s captain may confer with the officials.
All players must present their valid Northeastern University issued
Husky Card in order to play.
All roster management is done via the IMLeagues platform.
After the season’s schedule is published, regular season games will
not be rescheduled at a team’s request.
4. General Rules

Five players on the court maximum
Minimum number of players to avoid a forfeit is 4
Mixed Gendered Leagues:
At least 2 player must identify as a different gender from 2 other players
on the court at all times
All players must wear eye goggles
Players can bring their own or use the ones provided
Games will consist of 3 periods, each 12 minutes long
Each team has 1 time-out to use for the entire game
Mercy Rule:
A team leading by 7 goals in the 3rd period will automatically win
5. The Regular Season & Playoffs

Regular season games will not be rescheduled
Losing By Default:
If a team can not play and contacts the intramural department to indicate this and fills
out the Default Form on the Campus Recreation Website, they will lose by default.
Team will not lose the forfeit bond.
Playoffs:
The top team in each league will advance to the playoffs
If two teams are tied in the standings the following will be used to determine who will
advance:
Sportsmanship
Forfeited games
Head-to-head record
Point differential

6. Required Player Equipment

Players can bring their

Players must wear athletic
attire and athletic shoes
No jeans, flip-flops,
sandals, boots, etc.
Players are recommended to
bring their own hockey stick, or
use provided sticks
7. Required Goalie Equipment

Goalie equipment will be
provided by the Campus Rec
department
Goalies may not switch during a
period
Goalies may not cross center
court
Offensive players may not enter
the crease unless the ball is
already in that area of play
8. Unsportsmanlike Penalties

Players receiving any combination of 3 penalties will be ejected from the
game and the facility
Major penalties, misconduct penalties and game misconduct penalties
will all result in the player’s ejection
Penalties from the bench will be assessed to the team’s captain
This is a NON – CHECKING league
There is to be no intentional contact between the players
9. Unsportsmanlike Penalties

Sticks cannot be lifted above a player’s waist at any time
High sticking is a 2-minute minor penalty
A stick check that results in a high stick will result in a penalty against the
player committing the stick check
A team accumulating 6 minor penalties during one game will
automatically lose the contest as a forfeit
This does not include non-contact penalties like High Sticking
10. Slashing & Hooking

Slashing
Players must attempt to play the ball with their stick
Any player using their stick to slash an opponent’s body or stick will be
assessed a slashing penalty
Hooking
Players may not hook or attempt to hook an opposing player with their
stick
11. Roughing and Checking

Floor Hockey is strictly a NON - CONTACT
Players cannot intentionally make contact with opposing players
Intentionally contacting an opposing player will result in a minor, major
or game misconduct penalty
The severity of the penalty will be at the judgment of the official
12. Holding, Tripping & Interference

Players may not impede an opponent from progressing in play
Players using their hands or sticks to hold a player will be assessed a
penalty
Interference will be called when a player obstructs an opponent’s
movement that does not have possession or control of the ball
Players using their body or stick to trip an opponent will be assessed a
tripping penalty
