Who is BBC?
 BBC is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation and aslo the largest
broadcaster in the world.
 Around a quarter of BBC revenues come from its commercial arm BBC Worldwide
Ltd. which sells BBC programmes and services internationally and also distributes
the BBC's international 24-hour English language news services BBC World News
and BBC.com, provided by BBC Global News Ltd.
Why BBC?
 The reason I choose BBC to publish magazine is because,BBC is the UK's fourth
largest consumer in terms magazines publisher;selling almost 90 million copies in
the past year, equal to 171 magazines per minute. This is beneficial because I
know my magazine would be selling out and it would be in good hands.
 Unlike the magazine that BBC already has publish, Urban will be available to girls
all around the world, not just via the internet but hardcopies aswell.
 BBC Magazines also has growing audiences round the world, from a joint venture
with Times of India to Worldwide Media. They also published leading titles such as
FilmFare, Femina and Top Gear in India. In Australia, with ACP now publishes Top
Gear Australia and BBC Australian Good Food.
Distribution and monetisation
 BBC Top Of The Pops Magazine is the biggest-selling teen music, lifestyle title in the market,
focusing on self discovery, self expression and the world of celebrities. Featuring the latest fashion
and beauty, star gossip, real life stories and celebrity advice, the magazine brings readers
exclusive and exciting content every four weeks.
 BBC World wide's UK Publishing business extends audiences' enjoyment of BBC programmes
through its magazines, digital editions, books and live events. Although some of these are licensed
and others are wholly owned, all of them, as you would expect of the BBC, strive to maintain the
highest editorial and commercial quality and standards.
 Because BBC has such an extended audience this will increase sales and will allow Urban to have
a stable readership. By having BBC publish urban it will increase popularity of the magazine, also
it will be able to be distributed in more public places, such as the airport ,trains etc.
 Because BBC is such a worldwide publisher urban will be able to be disrupted in stores across the
world, this will help to increase monetization.
Social media
 In terms of social media , URBAN magazine will have its own official
website,twiiter and snap chat account. The reason as to why I chose those two
social medium is because; Twitter can be used to make tiny announcements and
sneak peaks on the latest edition of the magazine and also to make request of
what they would like to see on the”WHATS HOT ‘N’ NOT “ page in the magazine . I
find that this would be convenient fro the target as it will allow feel they like they
have some sort of involvement of the making of the magazine.
