cameraman in the future as in the past few years of production I’ve been
set as the main camera manager and enjoyed it.

SAMMY -
We are here to present our short film Anathema. The word Anathema is
greek and means “deep hatred” or “hell” depending on how it's used in a
sentence. We have decided to use this for our title as we believe it stands
out as a good product name because in the horror industry, it is rare to
have one name that can represent multiple elements that relate to horror
conventions.

Slide 3

BEN - We’ve chosen horror as the main genre mainly due to the fact that
with this type of film we can have a bigger impact on the audience which
means that the message we are trying to give them will stick with them
and hopefully use these messages to avoid the mistakes the characters did
in the film.

with the sub-genre being psychological horror, the main reason being
because we went out and conducted research on our target audience and
found out that most of our target audience favour psychological horror
than any other sub-genre of horror.

Slide 4

NIKON -
The short film that we are producing will be approximately 7-10 minutes
long. Unlike normal films we may watch on TV or in cinema which tend to
be an hour and a half long. We decided to create a short film as the first
production due to the low budget and to the fact that it’s easier for a new
company to produce a short film instead as a full length film.

Slide 5

BEN -
Our aim for the short film is to finish filming by may and we feel this is
enough time for the editing and filming to be finished as we want to
release it by friday the 13th of october. We will need to do marketing for
around 4 months to make the audience aware and get them interested in
our film and to come and watch it in cinemas or other platforms where it
will be released. We want our trailer to grab the attention of people and we
want as many people as possible to watch our film and for that to happen
we need to have the trailer with really good elements that come from
conventions of trailers.

GEORGE-We are releasing our horror film on Friday 13th of October as in
today’s generation as well as throughout history, Friday the 13th has been
seen as the unluckiest day in the calendar. There are reasons for this such
as the claims (made by historians) that this was the day when Eve bit the
apple from the Tree of Knowledge, or the day when New Yorker Daz Baxter
died in his home building trying to avoid going out on the day as he was
too scared.

GEORGE - October also holds the “scariest” day of the year, Halloween is
when people tend to scare others, also horrific acts and crimes happened
around this period emphasising even more the negative background that
this period has as it resembles scareness.

Slide 6

SAMMY -
We want our primary target audience to be 15-19 as most of today's
younger generation within the target audience have become more
interested in the genre horror. We chose the age of 15 to be the boundary
of our main target audience rather than 16 as the BBFC have rated horror
no lower than 15 to be the minimum possible you could put .

Our secondary target audience will be people in their mid 20’s as well as
other horror fans who are not part of our target audience. We are also
aiming at this audience because older people who might have seen their
first horror film when they were 15 could still like them now after getting
older and obviously there might be some situations where people go out to
the cinema to watch a film together giving us more customers and sales.

Slide 7
GEORGE -
We want to create a thrilling experience for our audience, So We want our
short film to leave an impact on our audience and make sure they can
understand the message we are trying to convey through the film.

BEN- The message we have chosen is about internet and personal safety.
We are trying to show the audience that they shouldn’t go to places they
have never been to by themselves especially at night when you don’t know
who you are going to meet through the use of social media or over an
online game. You may think you’re talking to a friend but if the stranger
would ask you to meet in a strange place you should take a step back and
refuse, just for safety reasons.

Slide 8
NIKON -
We want to make our movie frightening for our audience and we feel that
by having darker scenes we can scare more the viewers.

Due to  the crucial message we want to send we want our horror film to be
taken seriously by our audience and the style of our film will make so that
the audience can empathise and put themselves in the character’s shoes as
if they are living the world within our horror movie.

Slide 9
GEORGE
Background This will be our first production together as a group and the
reason why our production company has chosen to create this horror film
is because we feel that the genre has a large market audience as it is one
of, if not THE most popular movie genre to date. It has been recently
discovered that since 2010, 13 of the top 30 films are horror films and this
is because horror is in a sweet spot in the filming industry as they are
popular, affordable and can easily give you quick profit due to the fact that
for example the storyline and style can easily fit in the genre which
facilitate the life for low budgeted companies.

BEN-
Another reason why we decided to chose this genre is because in order to
make a good final product there is no need to have a lot of actors as well as
locations making it easier for the storyline to fit which also means it will
be easier for us to concentrate on to the most important parts which
include the storyline as well as the development of specific scenes that
have to fit the genre and style of the film.

GEORGE-
THIS IS ALL YOU, YOU DIDN'T WRITE THIS BUT JUST BULLSHITE YOUR
WAY THROUGH THE BACKGROUND. USE BUT DONT MENTION TODORV
AND BE CAREFUL NOT TO SAY A LOT

Slide 10
Sammy -
We are using social media sites to market our film to our target audience
as many people who use social media sites are within our target audience.
The social media sites we are using are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
as they are the most popular social media sites to date. During the month
of April, Facebook racked up 1,500,000,000 viewers, Instagram had
700,000,000 active users, Twitter has about 313,000,000 active users.

We will post our trailer and our film on YouTube which as well as on
Facebook. With those statistics we are confident that our short film will
get across to our target audience very quickly thanks to the help of the
social media sites. If one person enjoys watching the short film then they
might share it with other people meaning that the secondary audience can
be reached easily too without much effort from us.

Slide 11
BEN -
We want these props as this is what we think fits are character best. For
example, fake blood will be useful to the horror film as it can show the
audience that character(s) have been through a physical struggle, pain or a
fight. And with the realism we will have in the film, the pain the
characters have we want the audience to feel.

We are producing a short film which is around 10 minutes long, this
means  our film does not require as much props and key elements that
may be needed in full movies which again gives us an advantage budged
wise.

Slide 12
NIKON- Our synopsis generally shows the consequences breaking online
health and safety rules that teenagers or young people are most likely to
do and although these rules often times involve the use of common sense
it is to say that young people ignore them because they don’t think enough
before doing an action hence why the storyline focuses on scaring to
audience to make them remember our message.

SAMMY - Our basic storyline is about a teenager who is playing PS4 with
his close friend. After they finish playing their game one of them gets a
strange phone call from the other one telling him to meet him somewhere
without thinking it over too much he goes out alone.

BEN- hello my character is simon I'm 17  and my interests include playing
ps4 with my friends online. I met my good friend Matt George online 7
years ago when we used to sledge race when playing Club Penguin. The
story of how we met online was just normal, but how we met in real life
was sick.

GEORGE- hi my name is George and I’m 17. I met a lot of people over the
internet as a smaller child because I was always on my computer playing
Club Penguin which is also where I met Matt & Simon. We didn’t know
each other’s real name just usernames.

SAMMY - Hello my name’s Matt I’m 22. I met George and Simon online. I
have a new way of thinking, but my parents just said i'm just crazy but i
knew otherwise i made them stop, the man told me to do it. I enjoyed
killing my parents and i want my online friends next

BEN- Slide 13 - 14 - 15 and 16
The locations we are using for our short horror film as you can see behind
me are using
● A shed
● Forest  (Epping)
● (Buckhurst hill)park
● House -
We feel like these locations fit the theme of the film as well as the genre
and regardless of the fact that these are public or private places/properties
they still meet our demands and if edited, and acted with proper timings,
these properties can make this short film a success. We feel that the
location that my group and i have chosen fits in with our storyline well
and we can’t wait to produce our horror film and we hope you can do too.
Slide 15
SAMMY - questionnaire, primary research (also say the results we
gathered if you remember them) why what ecc ecc....
Slide 16 - 17
NIKON- We analysed 2 horror films to get an idea of what we could
produce, we wrote an essay about the difference in the two films.
Quarantine is found footage film with the fourth wall being broken which
taught us a different way of how horror films can be shown. However the
Conjuring 2 is completely different the way it was filmed as it was much

Slide 18
Budget: ben - we are asking for an investment of £3,500 for our
production,

NIKON - we ourselves will put in (which will be £795,09) will be spent
from our own pocket as we also want to participate in the investment
because we trust our company to succeed, but we cannot without the help
of your investment. The money from the budget will be invested into key
props, equipment and crew needed in the production of the final product
as well as everything else needed in the process of the making of a short
horror movie. All the material needed is listed in the budget template with
respective links given at the bottom for each piece.

BEN, THIS IS FOR A QUESTION… ONLY ONE OF US MIGHT ASWER IT
(randombly), DON’T WORRY

GEORGE- Why did you chose horror? We’ve chosen horror as the main
genre mainly due to the fact that with this type of film we can have a
bigger impact on to the audience’s minds which means that the message
we are trying to give them will be more remarkable and hopefully they will
understand it in a better way.

BEN- Why us? Why would you invest in us, our product? What makes us
special, better than any other group looking to be invested upon?

GEORGE - At the start we had setbacks which landed us at the back of the
field with the other groups moving forward but we’ve also got strengths
that for others are weaknesses such as the fact that we are patient and
relaxed as we know what we need to do and when, this puts us in a good
position of coordination in between the members of the company meaning
that the final product will be reached before the deadline that has been put
as programmed.

But this is our underdog story, the supposed “worst group” as seen by the
other groups actually have more in common with each other than we
thought. Thanks to that, the “underdogs” (which is our group) were able
to use the weaknesses we all shared to become our strengths and to make
us work and show the other groups that we can be better than the other
group (I DON’T THINK THIS IS GOOD PLS DON’T SAY THIS D: nikon)

There is no negative atmosphere or worrying atmosphere in our group, we
know what to do, when to do it, how to do it, we are pretty relaxed and
confident. With our last work we each managed to get an equal amount of
work done by each member which again emphasises how coordinated and
shows the chemistry we have which the other groups seem to be lacking
now.
How are you gonna market your product to your secondary audience?

 What’s Todorov’s narrative structure?

here are five stages the narrative can progress through:
1. A state of equilibrium (All is as it should be.)
2. A disruption of that order by an event.
3. A recognition that the disorder has occurred.
4. An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption.
5. A return or restoration of a NEW equilibrium
