What is dance?
 Move rhythmically to music, typically following a set
sequence of steps.
 A series of steps and movements that match the
speed and rhythm of a piece of music.
 It is an aerobic exercise.
 “We should consider every day lost on which we have
not danced at least once.” –Friedrich Nietzsche.
 The origin of dance
takes place in a very
old era.
 Dance was used to pay
tribute to god.

 Then many other
countries around the
world started to follow
this trend and used it
as well.
 As dance became more
famous it became also
more diverse.

Meaning?
 The beauty of dance is that there is no meaning
establish.
 For Nicole: For me dance is the most beautiful art
and it helps to be healthy.
 For Camila: Dancing gives you a sense of belonging
and belief in yourself.
 For Carlos: I believe it’s a way for people to express
themselves and exercise.
Should dance be consider art or a sport?
 On of the things that is very controversial about that
is whether it should be consider an art or a sport.

There is competition in it. There is no physical contact.
It requires many skills present in
other sports.
The grading system is entirely
subjective.
Dancers have to train, practice and
perform.
It expresses beauty, in contrast to
sports.
Golden Rules
 1. Show respect for your teacher.
 2. Be on time.
 3. Be considerate of students around you.
 4. Wear suitable attire
 5. Keep talking and giggling to a minimum

 6. Avoid being a know it all.
 7. Take notes when sitting out of active participation.
 8. Let the teacher teach.
 9. Keep an open mind and please do not complain.
