1. Clip from the film,
giving insight.
Gaze away from
the readers but
still scary, looking
at the the
unknown- what is
there?
You can see
anger on his
face, bringing
terror.
“I’m not gonna
hurt ya. I’m just
gonna bash your
brains in.”- quoting
the film, again
giving insight into
the genre.
Black and red
theme
surrounding the
image, making it
the most central
focused piece
on the page.
The main image connotes
the sub-genre of the
horror. Due to the fact the
only horror we see is that
of the expression on the
characters face, it gives
us the idea that the film
may be a psychological
horror, where man is the
monster.
2. Eye line is focused
on the audience-
entices the readers
and shows direct
connection between
the reader and the
character- creepy.
Image of character
taken outside of the
film, makes the
character seem more
real in some ways.
Pale face gives a
deathly look about
the character,
reinforcing the
genre.
3. The red eye
instantly attracts
your attention.
The use of the
red not only fits in
with the colour
scheme and
brings in the
focus. It also
suggests
something about
the genre of the
film as a red eye
proposes
connotations of
something
inhumane and
almost devilish.
Low key light and the
darkness shadowing
half the characters face
draws you’re attention to
the features and
specifically to look
directly at/into the eye.
The eye is also a key
feature in a lot of horror
photography, e.g. ‘The
Candy Man’ and ‘Ringu’
Main focus on the
page. Ignoring the
outside features on the
page, as you are
instantly drawn to the
image. Perhaps
through the use of the
colour scheme.
