- then take the bus 18 to

- Founded by Irish & German immigrants
- The name comes from the wave of Czech immigrants, who
named it after Plzeň, a Czech city
- Mostly latino since the 1990’s
- Now Pilsen is undergoing gentrification (the process
of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of
middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating
areas that often displaces poorer residents)
- Today, Pilsen is Chicago’s largest predominately
Mexican-American neighborhood
