Old Town was settled in the mid-19th century by German Catholic immigrants and was one of Chicago's largest German communities. It is now a desirable residential neighborhood known for its boutique shops and restaurants on Wells Street, including the Second City Comedy Club where famous comedians like Bill Murray and Tina Fey launched their careers. The neighborhood also hosts an annual Old Town Art Fair each June that displays the works of over 250 artists and is one of America's oldest art fairs.
