The Fifth Discipline
The Fifth Discipline Peter M Senge Publisher: Currency Doubleday – 1990 Introduction The
organizations that will truly excel in the future will be those that discover how to tap people's
commitment and develop the capacity to learn at all levels in an organization. Deep down, people
are learners. No one has to teach an infant to learn. In fact, no one has to teach infants anything.
They are intrinsically inquisitive, masterful learners. Learning organizations are possible because at
heart we all love to learn. Through learning we re–create ourselves and are able to do something we
were never able to do earlier. Through learning we reperceive the world and our relationship to it.
Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moreover, when results are disappointing, we tend to find someone or something outside ourselves
to blame when things go wrong. All too often, "proactiveness" is reactiveness in disguise. True
proactiveness comes from seeing how we contribute to our own problems. Actions in organizations
are dominated by concern with events: last month's sales, the new budget cuts, the last quarter's
earnings, who just got promoted or fired, the new product our competitors just announced, the delay
in launching a new product, and so on. Our fixation on events is actually part of our evolutionary
programming. The irony is that today the primary threats to our survival, both of our organizations
and of our societies, come not from sudden events but from slow, gradual processes. The arms race,
environmental decay, the erosion of our society's public education system, increasingly obsolete
physical capital, and decline in design or product quality are all slow, gradual processes. Learning to
see slow, gradual processes requires slowing down our frenetic pace and paying attention to the
subtle as well as the dramatic. We learn best from experience but we never directly experience the
consequences of many of our most important decisions. The most critical decisions made in
organizations have systemwide consequences that stretch over years or decades. Systems thinking
Systems thinking is the fifth discipline. It is the conceptual cornerstone that underlies

Assignment 023 Understand Child and Young Person Development Table 1: Physical development
Age range Explain the sequence and rate of development 0–3 months When born, babies show
innate reflexes, such as swallowing and sucking, rooting reflex, grasp reflex, startle reflex, walking
and standing reflex; in the first month babies become less curled up and the startle reflex is starting
to fade; toward the end of the third month babies start lifting and turning their heads. 3–6 months
When lying on front babies can lift their arms and legs balancing on their tummies; they can reach
and grab a toy and they can pass it from one hand to another; they can also roll from their backs to
front; around sixth month babies are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6–9 months Babies become quite vocal, babbling with a differentiated tuneful string of sounds. They
are also starting to understand various important key words connected with their routines (e.g.
´dinner´). 9–12 months Babies clearly show they understand more of what is being said around
them/ to them. Babbling is still main way of communication. 1–2 years First meaningful sounds/
words are beginning to emerge around 13 months, and at the end of 2nd year children might have a
vocabulary of about 200 words. 2–4 years Language is becoming a powerful means of
communication. From connecting two words first children are beginning gradually to build up
sentences and their talking is becoming understandable even to those who are not in regular contact
with the child. Even though there might be the odd mistake in the sentence structure, the language
toward the end of this period is becoming fluent and children ask questions and generally enjoy
expressing themselves through language. 4–7 years Children are becoming involved with written
language – they are starting to learn to read and write. 7–12 years Reading and writing becomes
easier now; at the beginning of this period children enjoy telling jokes to others; apart from chatting,
children are beginning to be able to form a simple argument and be persuasive, they are becoming
increasingly able to negotiate with others. Their writing shows more grammatical awareness as well

The Reflection Of The Myth Of IcarusFoundations
During the pre–assessment, the students were given the myth of Icarus and his wings. We were
assessing the students' ability to perform three important reading comprehension and literacy skills.
These included identifying the main idea of a text, making connections from the text to their own
personal lives and experiences, and finally, to draw inferences from the text. We collaborated with
our cooperating teacher, Ms. Aviles, in order to design lessons that addressed the students' needs and
were relevant to their classroom work. We chose myths as a literary medium to coordinate with their
next unit, which was Ancient Greece, and to expose them to a style of writing that many had no
prior experience reading. From our pre–assessment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The need to implement these scaffolds was concluded through the responses students turned in
during the pre–assessment. For example, one student wrote, "to have a meaning to the name of the
island of Icaria...It is also to learn the name of the island Icaria." It was very clear this student was
unfamiliar and didn't understand the main idea of the text and that the general plotline was confused.
Another student wrote, "I think this myth was made to tell the origin of people with wings." Both of
these student responses indicate that those students had difficulty pulling out the main idea of the
text because they give details that are irrelevant or gives misinformation.
We also tailored instruction based on objective 3 which asks how the myth relates to the students'
lives. According to the data we gathered, this was the objective with the highest average scores on
the pre–assessment. Since we wanted to make the content culturally relevant and use the students'
background knowledge, we wanted to take the end of class during the lessons to do a quick share
out of the questions, specifically, the one that dealt with objective 3. This is so that the whole class
had the opportunity to hear the other students' connections and to critically think about their own
experiences. For example, in the pre–assessment, one student wrote, "It can be related to my life
because, like Icarus, I didn't heed to instructions. People also ruin my plans like Icarus did to
Daedalus." This

6. Why should an organization not rely only on ROI to select projects?
Financial criteria, like ROI alone, will not ensure that selected projects contribute to the mission and
strategy of a firm. Other considerations such as developing new technology, public image, brand
loyalty, ethical position, and maintaining core competencies should be considered. Furthermore, it is
difficult or next to impossible to assess ROI for many important projects (e.g., Y2K projects). While
ROI is likely to be a key consideration for many organizations, multiple screening criteria are
recommended for selecting and prioritizing projects.
7. Discuss the pros and cons of the checklist versus the weighted factor methods of selecting
projects.
Checklist Model Flexible Applies over a wide range of different types of projects, divisions, and
locations Impossible to rigorously compare and rank project by priority Politics, power, and
manipulation of project selection is very possible.
Weighted Factor Model Allows comparison and ranking of potential projects Open system Allows
for self evaluation of proposed project Power and politic games are exposed.

My Development and Life Span
[pic]
Human development is the process of how people grow and change psychologically over the
complete span of the human life; from birth to old age/death. In the past years many theorists have
studied human development in five different areas such as physical, cognitive, emotional and social
spiritual development. Erik Erikson is one of the most prominent theorists who identified eight
stages of human development. One of the stages are identity versus role confusion; which is
highlighted in the year of adolescence. Erikson also believed that every human being goes through a
certain number of stages to reach his/her full development. Therefore, this essay will examine the
five domains in human development namely physical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attachment is the positive emotional bond that develops between parent and children (Feldman,
2006). In addition, a secure attachment in infancy is crucial since it launches the parent and child
relationship in a positive way. This early strong family tie also assists a child to explore his/her
environment and is able to develop social and emotional skills as well as a sense of trust (Barnes,
1995). Family means a lot to me and I was brought up in a loving, supportive and secure family. My
mum stayed at home with me while I was growing up. She never hesitated to show her love for me
with lots of hugs and kisses. Therefore, this
early strong attachment and family warmth enabled me to establish and maintain a number of close
friendships with others.
The preschool period is a time of enormous growth and change in the areas of physical, cognitive
and social / emotional development. During these years, children continue to integrate previously
acquired skills into more complex and dynamic states (Berk, 2007). Like every living thing, I was
growing and expanding physically. This physical development was remarkable in this stage due to
the fact the brain functions such as neural pathways and activities of frontal lobe developing rapidly
(Berk, 2007). Therefore, this normative brain development may have allowed me to improve motor
skills such as running, skipping, throwing, kicking, jumping and balancing

Avoid Sensory Overload Advantages And Disadvantages
Games like Avoid Sensory Overload are pretty popular on mobile devices due to their easy controls
and addictive nature, but lately they have been making the jump to PC as well. With titles like Race
The Sun, T.E.C 3001 and Rage Runner, PC owners have been spoiled for choice when it comes to
these types of endless runners. Avoid Sensory Overload is another entry in the crowded market, but
one that fans of the genre will definitely want to check out.

dodging the obstacles that would prevent you from doing so. Your ship cannot stop or slow down,
but every few meters its speed increases, which make things a bit challenging. Obstacles come in
stationary and moving varieties along with other challenges such as holes in the path and narrow
sections where you can fall off.
The campaign mode consists of levels, split into three themes and with four difficulty levels each,
ranging from easy to extreme. Each difficulty level has 8 levels and the objective is simply to reach

each feature its own soundtrack and some of the tunes are rather catchy. The music really suits the
game and sounds great with a decent pair of headphones as it really draws you into the game. Some
more tracks would have been nice, but the developers have promised that there is a free theme

Once more it appeared that candidates saw a word, environment, and sought to bombard Examiners
with everything related to that topic. Exemplification is always needed to support argument or
opinion and generally it was offered. One question, though, that seemed to produce almost none was
Question 14, where Shakespeare was the only named example across the range of the arts. Lengthy
answers did show the need to edit, with particular reference to concluding paragraphs. These should
not be mere repetition of entire sentences but a summary of points made to demonstrate a balanced
assessment, or the main thrust of opinion expressed and supported. Some essays contained long lists
of questions. The single question can be an effective means of gaining attention, but if the technique
is over employed, the reader becomes suspicious that the candidate does not know his/her own
position on the issue. It has the effect of blurring analysis and indicates padding. Anecdotal
responses were fewer this year overall, except in Question 11. Finally, the need for balance, which is
present in most of the questions set for this Paper, remains the key area to need attention. It is not
sufficient to present two opposing ideas and leave them to stand on their own. Each needs to be
evaluated and a decision taken by the candidate as to which has the greater efficacy. This is the mark
of a successful and mature response to the challenge within the Paper.

Analyzing Resources and Capabilities
Analysts have tended to define assets too narrowly, identifying only those that can be measured,
such as plant and equipment. Yet the intangible assets, such as a particular technology, accumulated
consumer information, brand name, reputation, and corporate culture, are invaluable to the firm's
competitive power. In fact, these invisible assets are often the only real source of competitive edge
that can be sustained over time.

Let us consider each of these factors.
Basing Strategy on Resources and Capabilities
During the 1990s, ideas concerning the role of resources and capabilities as the principal basis for
firm strategy and the primary source of profitability coalesced into what has become known as the
resource–based view of the firm.1 To understand why the resource–based view has had a major
impact on strategy thinking, let us go back to the starting point for strategy formulation: typically
some statement of the firm's identity and purpose (often expressed in a mission statement).
Conventionally, firms have answered the question "what is our business?" in terms of the market
they serve: "who are our customers?" and "which of their needs are we seeking to serve?" However,
in a world where customer preferences are volatile and the identity of customers and the
technologies for serving them are changing, a market–focused strategy may not provide the stability
and constancy of direction needed to guide strategy over the long term.2 When the external
environment is in a

was to design a book that could be used cover to cover in an introductory Operations and Supply

material. All chapters are approximately the same in length. Our attempt is to balance managerial
concepts and analysis. This balance does not work out perfectly as some topics are intrinsically
more "managerial" and others more "analytical". Each chapter includes material that should work
well pedagogically in a number of ways. For those who want to emphasize analysis, problems are
developed in each chapter and solved problems included at the end of each chapter. The short cases
at the end of each chapter all require some analysis and usually have some managerial issues that
can be discussed as well. The

By treating this model briefly, I do not mean to imply that the tradeoff between incentives and
insurance is irrelevant, only that it is not nearly as central as it was once deemed.' In describing this
and subsequent models, I omit some assumptions, derivations, and results; Prendergast
(forthcoming) offers thorough introductions to many of these models. Consider an agent who takes
an unobservable action a to produce output y. For example, the production function might be linear,
y = a + s, where s is a noise term. The principal owns the output but contracts to share it with the
agent by paying a wage w contingent on output. For example, the wage contract might be linear, w =
s + by,where the intercept s is the salary and the slope b is the bonus rate. The agent's payoff is w –
c(a), the realized wage minus the disutility of action c(a). The principal's payoff is y – w, the realized
output net of wages. The key idea in this model is that the agent is risk–averse. (The principal may
be as well.) A higher bonus rate b thus creates stronger incentives for the agent, but also imposes
more risk on the agent. The extreme case of b = 0 offers the agent full insurance but creates no
incentives; the other extreme, b = 1, gives the agent full title to the output y but offers the agent no
insurance at all. The efficient bonus rate is between zero and one, depending on factors such

The negotiation skills workshop gave me both theoretical and pragmatic skills in negotiation.
Beginning with informal multilateral negotiation in groups was a good way to start and break the ice

One important thing that I learnt from this skill is that sometimes you might not need to speak a lot
or try to speak all the time, but the important thing is that you should try to see which actor shares
the same opinion as you and whether that actor is strong enough to act on your behalf. This was
really obvious in the activity of multilateral negotiations on negotiating intervention in a civil
conflict where I played Iraq. I found that Iraq shared a lot in common with the Arab states,
especially Iran on the Syrian issues. Balancing interests in the negotiation through the Arab
countries helped Iraq protect its interests. Without speaking much, but allying very well with Iran
and balancing the interests with the Arab states, it turned out that I gained the highest score in my
group.
However, there was one thing I found quite unrealistic about this activity. That was the rule on
unanimous agreement. I do not think this can be applied in the real world situation. I think that it
would be better if we do not need to stick on this. The unanimous rule made some players concede
too much, and that did not reflect real international negotiations. The role play on Six–party talks
was both fun and useful. This role play gave me a chance to practice more skills on negotiation and
chairing. This activity really showed the difficulties of negotiations on issues that are really critical
to national survival. The North Korean issue was very

The Role Of Offensive Cyber Operations On Chinese Military...
Draft Research Paper Matthew Marchant Professor Roehrig TSDM – Security Strategies September
23, 2016 The Role and Implications of Offensive Cyber Operations in Chinese Military Strategy
Contemporary news media feature regular reports of the interconnectedness of modern economies,
societies, and militaries, highlighting the associated benefits and vulnerabilities of a networked
commons. While Chinese businessmen, like those of other nations, have capitalized on
technological advancements to make fortunes in electronic commerce and the networked economy,
Chinese political and military leaders have likewise displayed an understanding of the threats and
opportunities posed by the virtual world. While China, in particular organs of the People's
Liberation Army (PLA), has historically and will likely continue conducting cyber espionage and
network exploitation for information gathering and related purposes, for reasons nested in the
individual, state, and international levels, and assuming the classic rational–actor paradigm of
decision making, it is increasingly likely that offensive cyber operations (OCO) will be preferred
elements of China's military strategy in the coming years. For reasons including an increasing
American ability to detect, counter, and reciprocate OCO as well as cost efficiency and regional
factors and regional power dynamics, China will increasingly choose to target U.S. allies vice U.S.
interests directly. This will consequently create a requirement

Educating Children With Children Can Learn From Great...
Engaging in recreation is a process by which children can learn from. Great quality play
has a significant impact on child development. Play involves the child, thinking, creative
expression of thoughts and feelings, and physical demands. It all interacts with in there dynamic
process. Children learn about
relationships with peers, significant adults, and the world around them. They experience
the complete range of their senses and feelings, how their bodies move through space,
and how their imaginations can create alternate worlds of existence. When children build
with blocks or sand, romp through the modules of a playground superstructure, they learn
limits and bond through horse playing, expressing themselves it represent the world
through hundreds of different materials, they gain the benefits of play in thousands of
different ways. They are continually learning and emerging, becoming healthy, well

Children usually respond when asked about play, play is more than just fun. Play is
engaging, voluntary and spontaneous. Taking part is a way for children to learn more
about whom they are and what they can do. Play is a way for children to test limits,

The Premise
"Tic Tac BOOO" game is a Virtual Reality (VR) game that simulates a real life Tic Tac Toe game as
if the user is playing with a real player. The only difference is that he is to use his mobile phone to
play the game. The idea mainly focuses on creating a 3D character out of the images of the available
set of characters, and then making it play with the user on a real Tic Tac Toe board that is to be the
main game board.
Commonly, traditional mobile Tic Tac Toe games are designed to let the user play with a mobile
device where the screen is the playing board and the opponent player normally is the computer or
the AI engine which is embedded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some players are motivated further to master the game itself, wanting to completely dominate every
aspect of it. This is also to prove one's self by overcoming challenges presented within the game, for
a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction, or acknowledgement.
Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
The uniqueness of this game underlines in the new features it adds to the traditional mobile Tic Tac
Toe games. The new features include the existence of a virtual player other than playing with the
computer in a non–visible representation of a second player. Selecting among different characters,
and visualizing an imaginary player add more fun to the game and make it more interactive with the
real world as it uses a real playing board and projects the created character on it.

All the previous features make the game stand out and accordingly it becomes more engaging than
other similar previously–presented games.
Competitive Analysis
Being old and known game, many applications had been made on the idea of Tic Tac Toe, one of the
best–selling Tic Tac Toe mobile games is "Tic tact toe free", the game has good features as it
supports two player mode where player can play with a human opponent through his mobile phone.

How Does Horatio Create Tension In Julius Caesar
The play does not open with the protagonist, nor with the direct disclosure of the problem. It points
to unanswered questions and reveals anxiety and unrest. There is said to be a ghost, but the reason
and purpose for the ghost's appearance are unknown. Basically, we can say that the first scene
creates an atmosphere and the basis for the disclosure of the specific problem. The first point
dramatically established is that there really is a ghost, although the questions raised by its
appearance are unanswered. Horatio, the scholar and the skeptic, comes to test the report given by
the simple soldiers. The empirical proof that Horatio seeks is there; the ghost appears and it is seen
to have a specific identity, that of the deceased King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This account of the past, and the connection with present military preparations, seems to explain the
appearance of the ghost. But Horatio sees it as a more disturbing omen, going further back to
ancient history, to the death of Julius Caesar, and he refers to visitations from beyond the grave as
preceding some momentous destructive event in the world. But Horatio cannot answer his own
questions and gets no answers from the ghost; he doesn't know whether it's connected to upheaval in
the state, personal guilt, recent events or whether it's part of some general pattern. Altogether, the
effect of the opening scene is that questions are asked, anxieties are expressed, but there are no
certain answers. One of the soldiers says he's "sick at heart", Horatio is troubled, and another soldier
discusses spirits being abroad as something negative, contrasted to Christmastime.
What we have here is something similar to a musical overture, where thematic interests are given
concerning the topics to be developed in the play: groping in the dark, revenge, questions, suspected

Student Athlete Stress Research Paper
Stress has been an increasing issue regarding not only college students, but also student–athletes.
Imagine the workload of any normal college student. Then imagine on top of academics, playing a
sport which occupies the remaining available time within your day and weekend. This is the life of a
student–athlete. Many student–athletes are able to handle the schedule and pressure that one faces in
the collegiate environment, but some cannot. A large amount of people are unaware of the stress a
student–athlete faces on a day to day basis. Waking up early, attending classes, going to practice,
lifting, eating, and homework, is just the beginning. Due to stressors triggered by being a student–

Given the changes in atmosphere and various weather and atmospheric events on various stages, we
will be looking at including various map–wide effects that slow or stop towers due to events on the
stages. The major events we are currently thinking about are blizzards, lightning storms, and
volcanic activity. Blizzards, on stage 1, can cause a slowing or complete stop of towers and enemies
found on the stage as mobility can be locked down or limited to prevent damage to central
machinery. Lightning storms, on stage 2 and 4, can cause short term damage to what is hit, and
possibly power fluctuations in mechanical foes and towers causing a stall in the unit/tower's work.
Volcanic activity, on stage 4, can be distant and result in the falling of hot flakes of debris and ash. It
could also be a lockdown or clearing of parts of the level dependent on how we feel we need to
balance the game at those points. Another possible effect would be, on stage 5, meteor showers and
other objects falling onto the surface causing damage or alterations to the map itself.

possible that during the project development some staff may have difficulty in defining their roles
within the team or were not part of the role development process that takes place during the forming
stage of Tuckman's team development model. It is also likely within the project team to have
duplication of roles/function, even though Belbin's Team roles model may have been used. However
it is not a pre–requisite that all team must have the nine roles specific by Belbin. 'Team members can

Through team meetings and project control, risk associated with roles and responsibilities could be
quickly identified. One through work duplication if one or more staff are performing the same task
and two through inaccurate, incomplete or delayed work. Left unmanaged they may lead to long

Students in college these days are keen to take part in sports. They are sometimes ready to miss their

physically and mentally. It could not be denied. Moreover, taking part in extracurricular activities
with regard to sports can also impact the credentials of a student and further help him improving his
profile (Lumpkin, A., Stokowski, S., 2011). On the other hand, sports activities can affect the

Strong-Willed Child Book Report Essay example
There once was a little girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead and when she was good she
was very very good and when she was bad she was horrid. That is the poem my mother used to
recite to me when I was being strong–willed. Jokingly, I believe it is just a proper way of saying
difficult; also known to my mother as stubborn, defiant and full of steam. One story in particular she
described me as crying so angrily that my tears came shooting straight out. There may perhaps be
some exaggeration there. Fast forward almost 25 years later and I gave birth to my very own little
six pound ten ounce nightmare. My mother feels joy knowing I am getting what I gave. Isn't that

that strong–willed kids may be tough cookies, they are exactly as God made them and with the
correct temperance of love and control they too can come around. To help our kids we must first
understand the personality that God has given them. Raising children is not a one size fits all
occupation. Dr. Dobson introduces mothers and their strong–willed children to show intimate and
real dialogue. These interviews give greater insight into the hearts and minds of the individuals and
families caught in this strong–willed storm. The consensus is that perseverance, prayer, love and
firmness is the formula for success. In the end, it appears that results are favorable if the parent takes
the time and energy to devote to their child. Dobson discusses how we live in a society that has
experts who are giving bogus advice in regard to parenting. Some experts feel that parents would
benefit by getting rid of their authoritative position, whereas the child will thrive better. This is
referred to as permissive parenting. Dobson feels this is nonsense, where deep within a child is the

Work and non-work relation
Work and non–work relation Nowadays balancing between work and non–work life has become one
of the major social and family concerns. It has been found that, working stress or family conflict
may have negative impact on employee work performance and productivity (Pleck et al., 1980). The
main objective of this essay is to find the prevalence of the role conflicts in work and non–work
domain and probable influences of this on the family, society and the organizations at large. The
discussion will start with a clear understanding of work and non–work issues. Spillover cost–benefit
in work and non–work relationship will then be critically evaluated. Next, a critical evaluation on

According to Parker (1982), positive spill over is work resources such as learning opportunities,
skill development, social support; higher job satisfaction etc. that leads to higher life satisfaction. On
the other hand, job stress, family problem considered as Negative spillover (Menon and Akhilesh,
1994). Positive spillover motivates the employees, increases productivity and encourages retention.
On the other hand, negative spillover reduces the employee performance and productivity, increases
absenteeism and tardiness. A threefold typologies of work–leisure relationship by Porter will be
covered in the next section of the discussion. Work and non–work life relation can be discussed
under three category; extension/spill over, Opposition/compensation, and Neutrality (Parker, 1982).
Opposition approach of the work–leisure relationship typology says, work and leisure are opposite
to one another. Voluntarily performed activity in the domain of work place is sharply differentiated
from that one performs in his/her behavioral regime (McDonald et al., 2005). It is more likely when
people find their work uninteresting and finish the work–shift by doing something differently
enjoyable. Neutrality typology of Parker (1983) suggests no causal relationship between work and
leisure. Mageni and Slabbert (2005) argued that the work–leisure relationship is difficult to identify
from the Parker's typology due to several limitations. First, it is likely that occupation

The Pressures of Performativity and the Responses of Leadership
In this essay, I will try to develop an understanding of why performance measures are so important
to school leadership and how leadership stimulates change when new performance measures are
demanded. Firstly, I will briefly explore the development of historical practices in the education
field, the 'History of Classifications and the History of Blood', discussing their influences on modern

'Histories of Classifications' are those 'interpolated' with the histories of subjects through pedagogies
and grouping whilst the 'History of Blood' is far more complex (Ball 2013). The 'History of Blood'
refers to the influence social class and intelligence ranking systems have as stimuli for change. Both
are still evident in modern practice and it is clear to see how education is currently at a 'point of
intersection between discipline and regulation, between individualising and totalizing' (Ball
2013:65). I would like to share an example from own experiences where such developments were
clearly evident.
I am currently working in a school that has received 'special measures' status by the Office for
Standards in Education (Ofsted). Apart from embracing the challenges such conditions, propose I
have been exposed to many interesting situations which have tested my reflexive capacities. Here is
one of those experiences:

lessons were abandoned to cater for the conduction of the exams. During the first day, it came to my
attention that one of my students was absent and would consequently miss their exams. I approached
my key stage leader on the issue and they instructed me to complete the papers with the student

Coping Mechanism of Families with Autistic Children
CHAPTER 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects the brain's development of social and
communication skills and said to be a behaviorally–defined condition. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) a
person with autism has to deal with great consequences due to the different adjustments they have to
follow. Along with the stress felt by the autistic person, their families are the ones who should
handle the responsibilities in raising their autistic children. Since they have to raise the children with
a disability, a big burden corresponds to the adjustment they have to initiate to their autistic child
and for the whole family as well. Their responsibility is even more difficult since there are ... Show

With these two principles constantly followed, the family functions well and accordingly and
benefits the whole family and each member. But raising a child with autism can create great
emotional stress and can fully affect the family's system and interaction because of the problems
related to autism. For the family to form their organized family life cycle they must go through
different adjustments and adaptation for the family's development, applying the third principle that
says that any system functions as an organized whole.
Research Paradigm
Raising a child who has been diagnosed with autism can be a very challenging role for any family.
Since they are the ones who are primarily responsible for dealing with the needs of the child with a
disability, they also have to deal with great stress regarding the autistic child. The presence of a child
with a disability may involve some difficult adjustments for the rest of the family.
Different effects are implied to the whole family, changes in family roles are highly affected and
because of this they have to reorganize the family's functioning and activities. Autism affects the
enormously, they are challenged physically, mentally, emotionally and financially as well. Everyday
things have to be carefully planned and executed. Families are somehow put into

Gender Norms In My Princess Boy
The increase in acceptance of the LGBTQ has led to a growing number of children's books focusing
on issues and topics. This is important because, through illustrations and the use of language, books
also define standards for masculine and feminine behavior (Nanahara 3). Some seek to inform and
normalize families with LGBTQ parents while others focus on issues thats children themselves face.
My Princess Boy by Cheryl Kilodavis and Jacob's New Dress by Sarah and Ian Hoffman, are both
picture books that deal with a young boy who falls outside of the typical gender norms and the
reactions of their families and the people around them. Representations of children who push the
boundaries of gender norms are important not only so these children can see themselves positively

International trade theory provides explanations for the pattern of international trade and the
distribution of the gains from trade. The study of trade emerged in the era of mercantilism
(approximately in 16th century) as a crude set of arguments about how a nation should trade. The
theory of International Trade examines the reasons why different countries exchange their products,
but in addition the aftermath that this process has, in the internal economy of a country involved in
international trade. Adam Smith, in The Wealth of Nations in 1776, postulated that under free trade,
each nation should specialize in producing those goods that it could produce most efficiently. Some
of these would be exported to pay for the imports of goods that could be produced more efficiently
elsewhere. Smith ridiculed the fear of trade by comparing nations to households. Since every
household finds it worthwhile to produce only some of its needs and to buy others with products it
can sell, the same should apply to nations. The theory of absolute advantage is based on the
assumption that the nation is absolutely better (i.e., more efficient) at production of

My Development and Life Span
[pic] Human development is the process of how people grow and change psychologically over the
complete span of the human life; from birth to old age/death.

This game is a number computation game and has rules like any other games. It became a very
important game to me. In the process of playing this game, I acquired the skill to count in numbers,
self– discipline, and self–control. Also interacting with other children assisted me to learn good
social relationships, and social norms. (Fletcher et.al., as cited in Berk, 2007). Adolescence is
moving from childhood to adult. This adolescent year brings many changes, not only physically but
also mentally, emotionally and socially (Feldman, 2006). My adolescence was a period in which I
gained maturity due to the biological changes associated with puberty. I became independent from
my family and developed more perspective since then. I started thinking more about my future
goals. I was also trying to understand more of who I was as an adult. In Piaget's cognitive
developmental theory young people start to think abstractly and hypothetically in the formal
operation stage (Berk, 2007). Therefore, this major cognitive development may have contributed to
the exploration or search for my individual identity. With respect to Erikson's eight stages of
psychosocial development, the adolescence is the stage of identity versus role confusion. He also
believes that identity as the significant personality achievement of adolescence is an essential step
toward becoming a productive happy adult (Feldman, 2006). I remember so vividly my high school

An Analysis Of The Dominion Board Game Essay
An Analysis of the Dominion Board Game
Dominion is a deck building game playable by 2–4 players that will take approximately half an
hour. Players compete against each other in a multilateral competition where the player with the
most victory points at the end of the game wins.
The game begins with ten (usually random) piles of resource cards being laid on the playing
area/table, along with the treasure, victory and other various cards. Each player is given an initial 10
cards as their starting deck (a.k.a. their 'Dominion') and they each draw 5 cards as their starting
hand. They then take turns playing cards from their hands according to the cards instructions, and
acquiring new cards from the piles in the middle while trying to improve their dominion. Each turn
players draw 5 more cards and once their deck gets depleted they re–shuffle their discarded cards
back into it. The game ends after any 3 piles of resource cards have been depleted or when the
province victory cards have been depleted. The core gameplay revolves around each player using
cards in their hands that they have drawn from their deck to acquire additional resources, sabotage
other players or bring the game closer to the end (or a combination of these). The games core

This is because the singularity of global culture lies precisely in its capacity to recruit and absorb, to
domesticate the local repertoires of any country, to indigenize its production by establishing
branches and even to bring about a decontextualized 'globalized reconstruction', such as 'world
cinema', 'world music' and an international literary style (Garc´a Canclini, 1999). ı Nevertheless,
concentration and commercialization bring about other farreaching mutations in the selection of
creative products and their consumption. This has attracted little attention, given its transcendent
consequences at the threshold of the Digital Age. Hence, the pressures generated by high profit rates
have provoked the general use of marketing and promotional tools designed to guarantee maximum
returns and profitability. On the launch of new products that are tested on a more and more to ensure
their success (Mi` ge, 2000), we can observe the multiplication of strategies of e distribution and
intensive promotional spending in order to guarantee the success of blockbusters. Managers have to
take fundamental account of how they maximise the value of their rights portfolios (Achille, 1997;
Negus, 1998). But the final objective is still 'not to sell what is produced, but to produce what can be
sold' (Achille, 1997). This path to an authentic 'clone culture' which replicates past successes can
only increasingly standardize

An Assessment Instrument Is Aimed At Stage 2
This assessment instrument is aimed at stage 2, year 4 addressing the outcomes: problem–solving
strategies (PSS2.5), games and sports (GSS2.8) and growth and development (GDS2.9). Through
self–evaluation, students reflect on their understanding and learning. Teachers are able to provide
appropriate feed back to student's responses and also consider their teaching strategies in response to
the student's comments and opinions. At the minimum, students should be expected to listen,
understand and follow the rules of a game, willing to participate and have some experience in
communicating with team members to solve problems or tasks. Students should be able to ask for
help if need when faced with simple problems and be able to draw on past experiences to solve
problems that are similar and suggest alternative solutions. Students also need experience in
identifying who to ask for help and when to ask, can follow advice and basic procedure on using
new equipment. Students must also be able to demonstrate the fundamental movement skills when
playing and sharing equipment with peers. Students need to be able to respond to verbal and
nonverbal directions, identify various games and play equipments and have experience in
recognising efficient ways in using a variety of game equipment such as grip, action or stance.
Lastly, students should be able to identify how people grow and change, be able to identify and
describe their personal characteristics and abilities, which make them both

American Hegemony in the Twenty-First Century: Consensus...
American Hegemony in the Twenty–First Century: Consensus and Legitimacy
Abstract: Since the end of the Cold War, the United States has been the world's only unquestioned
superpower. How the United States evaluates its position as global hegemon has important
consequences for American foreign policy, particularly with regards to the potential for future policy
constraints. Thus, this paper seeks to consider the question: How durable is American hegemony?
The paper first defines the state of American hegemony and then considers the primary challengers:
Europe, Russia, China, Japan and imperial overstretch. It will conclude that in the long–term, East
Asian geopolitical instability poses the greatest threat to American hegemony, ... Show more content

But what this means for both the United States and the rest of the world has been highly contentious.
The twenty–first century is seen alternatively as the century of the spread of freedom or of the
breakdown of global peace. On the one hand, the triumphalist school of international relations has
proclaimed the end of history and the triumph of the Western idea as embodied in the American
state. On the other hand, the clash of civilizations school has forebodingly predicted a backlash
against globalization, a fracturing of the world into civilizational conflict.
At the heart of the debate is the question of American primacy. Is the United States' hegemony
durable? And is it even a good thing–should we seek to preserve it? Those are the principle
questions that this paper seeks to answer. Although the United States is undoubtedly the world's
most powerful country, the degree of its dominance, its facets and its limits are all crucial aspects to
explore. The topic of American hegemony must be raised again with an eye specifically looking
forward towards the future. Delving into this topic not only addresses the crucial debates at the
center of the international relations theory, but it also offers important prescriptions for United States
foreign policy by accounting for the shadow of the future. Indeed, considering the durability to
American hegemony is a crucial task for Americans as we begin the twenty–first

`` Word Is Out `` By Nancy Adair And Casey Adair
LGBT history has changed the way society works in the United States and has had an impact around
the world. The homosexual community came as an impact to the world during the early 1900's.
They were considered different; odd, ill, and weak, but little did we know the effects it would have
in today's society and politics. The war, queer, and AIDs movements seem to relatively impact
members of the gay and lesbian community the most. In an series of interviews in Word is Out
conducted by Nancy Adair and Casey Adair, the reader is introduced into the lives of Pam, Rusty,
and Pat; lesbian women living within their true identity during the mid–1900's. Their stories consist
of broken family relationships, marriage failure, and gender roles. To help one understand the
dynamics of their relationships and lives, John D'Emilo talks about the effects of war and how it
structures and damages the gay community and their opportunity for equality. Elizabeth Davis
speaks about the Lesbian experience in public spaces that exposes many to find their character by
associating with those that fit best to their community in Lesbian Bar Culture in the 1930's and
1940's. The LGBT community for centuries has won the spotlight in the news and many articles
published in well know newspapers, but what many never get to hear or see are the struggle that
many homosexuals face. Both gays and lesbians in the United States have received backlash
because of their race, gender, and social class. The

The Fifth Discipline

  • 1. The Fifth Discipline The Fifth Discipline Peter M Senge Publisher: Currency Doubleday – 1990 Introduction The organizations that will truly excel in the future will be those that discover how to tap people's commitment and develop the capacity to learn at all levels in an organization. Deep down, people are learners. No one has to teach an infant to learn. In fact, no one has to teach infants anything. They are intrinsically inquisitive, masterful learners. Learning organizations are possible because at heart we all love to learn. Through learning we re–create ourselves and are able to do something we were never able to do earlier. Through learning we reperceive the world and our relationship to it. Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, when results are disappointing, we tend to find someone or something outside ourselves to blame when things go wrong. All too often, "proactiveness" is reactiveness in disguise. True proactiveness comes from seeing how we contribute to our own problems. Actions in organizations are dominated by concern with events: last month's sales, the new budget cuts, the last quarter's earnings, who just got promoted or fired, the new product our competitors just announced, the delay in launching a new product, and so on. Our fixation on events is actually part of our evolutionary programming. The irony is that today the primary threats to our survival, both of our organizations and of our societies, come not from sudden events but from slow, gradual processes. The arms race, environmental decay, the erosion of our society's public education system, increasingly obsolete physical capital, and decline in design or product quality are all slow, gradual processes. Learning to see slow, gradual processes requires slowing down our frenetic pace and paying attention to the subtle as well as the dramatic. We learn best from experience but we never directly experience the consequences of many of our most important decisions. The most critical decisions made in organizations have systemwide consequences that stretch over years or decades. Systems thinking Systems thinking is the fifth discipline. It is the conceptual cornerstone that underlies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6–9 months Babies become quite vocal, babbling with a differentiated tuneful string of sounds. They are also starting to understand various important key words connected with their routines (e.g. ´dinner´). 9–12 months Babies clearly show they understand more of what is being said around them/ to them. Babbling is still main way of communication. 1–2 years First meaningful sounds/ words are beginning to emerge around 13 months, and at the end of 2nd year children might have a vocabulary of about 200 words. 2–4 years Language is becoming a powerful means of communication. From connecting two words first children are beginning gradually to build up sentences and their talking is becoming understandable even to those who are not in regular contact with the child. Even though there might be the odd mistake in the sentence structure, the language toward the end of this period is becoming fluent and children ask questions and generally enjoy expressing themselves through language. 4–7 years Children are becoming involved with written language – they are starting to learn to read and write. 7–12 years Reading and writing becomes easier now; at the beginning of this period children enjoy telling jokes to others; apart from chatting, children are beginning to be able to form a simple argument and be persuasive, they are becoming increasingly able to negotiate with others. • 5. The Reflection Of The Myth Of IcarusFoundations During the pre–assessment, the students were given the myth of Icarus and his wings. We were assessing the students' ability to perform three important reading comprehension and literacy skills. These included identifying the main idea of a text, making connections from the text to their own personal lives and experiences, and finally, to draw inferences from the text. We collaborated with our cooperating teacher, Ms. Aviles, in order to design lessons that addressed the students' needs and were relevant to their classroom work. We chose myths as a literary medium to coordinate with their next unit, which was Ancient Greece, and to expose them to a style of writing that many had no prior experience reading. From our pre–assessment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The need to implement these scaffolds was concluded through the responses students turned in during the pre–assessment. For example, one student wrote, "to have a meaning to the name of the island of Icaria...It is also to learn the name of the island Icaria." It was very clear this student was unfamiliar and didn't understand the main idea of the text and that the general plotline was confused. Another student wrote, "I think this myth was made to tell the origin of people with wings." Both of these student responses indicate that those students had difficulty pulling out the main idea of the text because they give details that are irrelevant or gives misinformation. We also tailored instruction based on objective 3 which asks how the myth relates to the students' lives. According to the data we gathered, this was the objective with the highest average scores on the pre–assessment. Since we wanted to make the content culturally relevant and use the students' background knowledge, we wanted to take the end of class during the lessons to do a quick share out of the questions, specifically, the one that dealt with objective 3. This is so that the whole class had the opportunity to hear the other students' connections and to critically think about their own experiences. For example, in the pre–assessment, one student wrote, "It can be related to my life because, like Icarus, I didn't heed to instructions. People also ruin my plans like Icarus did to Daedalus." Financial criteria, like ROI alone, will not ensure that selected projects contribute to the mission and strategy of a firm. Other considerations such as developing new technology, public image, brand loyalty, ethical position, and maintaining core competencies should be considered. Furthermore, it is difficult or next to impossible to assess ROI for many important projects (e.g., Y2K projects). While ROI is likely to be a key consideration for many organizations, multiple screening criteria are recommended for selecting and prioritizing projects. 7. In the past years many theorists have studied human development in five different areas such as physical, cognitive, emotional and social spiritual development. Erik Erikson is one of the most prominent theorists who identified eight stages of human development. One of the stages are identity versus role confusion; which is highlighted in the year of adolescence. Erikson also believed that every human being goes through a certain number of stages to reach his/her full development. Attachment is the positive emotional bond that develops between parent and children (Feldman, 2006). In addition, a secure attachment in infancy is crucial since it launches the parent and child relationship in a positive way. This early strong family tie also assists a child to explore his/her environment and is able to develop social and emotional skills as well as a sense of trust (Barnes, 1995). Family means a lot to me and I was brought up in a loving, supportive and secure family. My mum stayed at home with me while I was growing up. She never hesitated to show her love for me with lots of hugs and kisses. Therefore, this early strong attachment and family warmth enabled me to establish and maintain a number of close friendships with others. The preschool period is a time of enormous growth and change in the areas of physical, cognitive and social / emotional development. During these years, children continue to integrate previously acquired skills into more complex and dynamic states (Berk, 2007). Like every living thing, I was growing and expanding physically. This physical development was remarkable in this stage due to the fact the brain functions such as neural pathways and activities of frontal lobe developing rapidly (Berk, 2007). Exemplification is always needed to support argument or opinion and generally it was offered. One question, though, that seemed to produce almost none was Question 14, where Shakespeare was the only named example across the range of the arts. Lengthy answers did show the need to edit, with particular reference to concluding paragraphs. These should not be mere repetition of entire sentences but a summary of points made to demonstrate a balanced assessment, or the main thrust of opinion expressed and supported. Some essays contained long lists of questions. The single question can be an effective means of gaining attention, but if the technique is over employed, the reader becomes suspicious that the candidate does not know his/her own position on the issue. It has the effect of blurring analysis and indicates padding. Anecdotal responses were fewer this year overall, except in Question 11. Finally, the need for balance, which is present in most of the questions set for this Paper, remains the key area to need attention. It is not sufficient to present two opposing ideas and leave them to stand on their own. Each needs to be evaluated and a decision taken by the candidate as to which has the greater efficacy. This is the mark of a successful and mature response to the challenge within the Paper. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basing Strategy on Resources and Capabilities During the 1990s, ideas concerning the role of resources and capabilities as the principal basis for firm strategy and the primary source of profitability coalesced into what has become known as the resource–based view of the firm.1 To understand why the resource–based view has had a major impact on strategy thinking, let us go back to the starting point for strategy formulation: typically some statement of the firm's identity and purpose (often expressed in a mission statement). Conventionally, firms have answered the question "what is our business?" in terms of the market they serve: "who are our customers?" and "which of their needs are we seeking to serve?" However, in a world where customer preferences are volatile and the identity of customers and the technologies for serving them are changing, a market–focused strategy may not provide the stability and constancy of direction needed to guide strategy over the long term.2 When the external environment is in a FIGURE 5.1 Analyzing resources and capabilities: the interface between strategy and the firm THE FIRM l Goals and Values l Resources and Capabilities l Structure and Systems

This balance does not work out perfectly as some topics are intrinsically more "managerial" and others more "analytical". Each chapter includes material that should work well pedagogically in a number of ways. For those who want to emphasize analysis, problems are developed in each chapter and solved problems included at the end of each chapter. The short cases at the end of each chapter all require some analysis and usually have some managerial issues that can be discussed as well. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By treating this model briefly, I do not mean to imply that the tradeoff between incentives and insurance is irrelevant, only that it is not nearly as central as it was once deemed.' In describing this and subsequent models, I omit some assumptions, derivations, and results; Prendergast (forthcoming) offers thorough introductions to many of these models. Consider an agent who takes an unobservable action a to produce output y. For example, the production function might be linear, y = a + s, where s is a noise term. The principal owns the output but contracts to share it with the agent by paying a wage w contingent on output. For example, the wage contract might be linear, w = s + by,where the intercept s is the salary and the slope b is the bonus rate. The agent's payoff is w – c(a), the realized wage minus the disutility of action c(a). The principal's payoff is y – w, the realized output net of wages. The key idea in this model is that the agent is risk–averse. (The principal may be as well.) A higher bonus rate b thus creates stronger incentives for the agent, but also imposes more risk on the agent. The extreme case of b = 0 offers the agent full insurance but creates no incentives; the other extreme, b = 1, gives the agent full title to the output y but offers the agent no insurance at all. The efficient bonus rate is between zero and one, depending on factors such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One important thing that I learnt from this skill is that sometimes you might not need to speak a lot or try to speak all the time, but the important thing is that you should try to see which actor shares the same opinion as you and whether that actor is strong enough to act on your behalf. This was really obvious in the activity of multilateral negotiations on negotiating intervention in a civil conflict where I played Iraq. I found that Iraq shared a lot in common with the Arab states, especially Iran on the Syrian issues. Balancing interests in the negotiation through the Arab countries helped Iraq protect its interests. Without speaking much, but allying very well with Iran and balancing the interests with the Arab states, it turned out that I gained the highest score in my group. However, there was one thing I found quite unrealistic about this activity. That was the rule on unanimous agreement. I do not think this can be applied in the real world situation. I think that it would be better if we do not need to stick on this. The unanimous rule made some players concede too much, and that did not reflect real international negotiations. The role play on Six–party talks was both fun and useful. This role play gave me a chance to practice more skills on negotiation and chairing. Draft Research Paper Matthew Marchant Professor Roehrig TSDM – Security Strategies September 23, 2016 The Role and Implications of Offensive Cyber Operations in Chinese Military Strategy Contemporary news media feature regular reports of the interconnectedness of modern economies, societies, and militaries, highlighting the associated benefits and vulnerabilities of a networked commons. While Chinese businessmen, like those of other nations, have capitalized on technological advancements to make fortunes in electronic commerce and the networked economy, Chinese political and military leaders have likewise displayed an understanding of the threats and opportunities posed by the virtual world. While China, in particular organs of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), has historically and will likely continue conducting cyber espionage and network exploitation for information gathering and related purposes, for reasons nested in the individual, state, and international levels, and assuming the classic rational–actor paradigm of decision making, it is increasingly likely that offensive cyber operations (OCO) will be preferred elements of China's military strategy in the coming years. For reasons including an increasing American ability to detect, counter, and reciprocate OCO as well as cost efficiency and regional factors and regional power dynamics, China will increasingly choose to target U.S. allies vice U.S. interests directly. It points to unanswered questions and reveals anxiety and unrest. There is said to be a ghost, but the reason and purpose for the ghost's appearance are unknown. Basically, we can say that the first scene creates an atmosphere and the basis for the disclosure of the specific problem. The first point dramatically established is that there really is a ghost, although the questions raised by its appearance are unanswered. Horatio, the scholar and the skeptic, comes to test the report given by the simple soldiers. The empirical proof that Horatio seeks is there; the ghost appears and it is seen to have a specific identity, that of the deceased King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This account of the past, and the connection with present military preparations, seems to explain the appearance of the ghost. But Horatio sees it as a more disturbing omen, going further back to ancient history, to the death of Julius Caesar, and he refers to visitations from beyond the grave as preceding some momentous destructive event in the world. But Horatio cannot answer his own questions and gets no answers from the ghost; he doesn't know whether it's connected to upheaval in the state, personal guilt, recent events or whether it's part of some general pattern. Altogether, the effect of the opening scene is that questions are asked, anxieties are expressed, but there are no certain answers. One of the soldiers says he's "sick at heart", Horatio is troubled, and another soldier discusses spirits being abroad as something negative, contrasted to Christmastime. What we have here is something similar to a musical overture, where thematic interests are given concerning the topics to be developed in the play: groping in the dark, revenge, questions, suspected connections to evil, etc. We also get tension in preparation for the disclosure that will come from the ghost in later acts. What the scene does not do is itself significant, and the fact that there is no disclosure of information here is doubly important. One aspect of the importance is that the disclosure will be given only to Hamlet, as Horatio guesses, and that will be the basis for the task ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blizzards, on stage 1, can cause a slowing or complete stop of towers and enemies found on the stage as mobility can be locked down or limited to prevent damage to central machinery. Lightning storms, on stage 2 and 4, can cause short term damage to what is hit, and possibly power fluctuations in mechanical foes and towers causing a stall in the unit/tower's work. Volcanic activity, on stage 4, can be distant and result in the falling of hot flakes of debris and ash. That is the poem my mother used to recite to me when I was being strong–willed. Jokingly, I believe it is just a proper way of saying difficult; also known to my mother as stubborn, defiant and full of steam. One story in particular she described me as crying so angrily that my tears came shooting straight out. There may perhaps be some exaggeration there. Dobson discusses how we live in a society that has experts who are giving bogus advice in regard to parenting. It has been found that, working stress or family conflict may have negative impact on employee work performance and productivity (Pleck et al., 1980). The main objective of this essay is to find the prevalence of the role conflicts in work and non–work domain and probable influences of this on the family, society and the organizations at large. On the other hand, negative spillover reduces the employee performance and productivity, increases absenteeism and tardiness. A threefold typologies of work–leisure relationship by Porter will be covered in the next section of the discussion. Work and non–work life relation can be discussed under three category; extension/spill over, Opposition/compensation, and Neutrality (Parker, 1982). Opposition approach of the work–leisure relationship typology says, work and leisure are opposite to one another. Voluntarily performed activity in the domain of work place is sharply differentiated from that one performs in his/her behavioral regime (McDonald et al., 2005). It is more likely when people find their work uninteresting and finish the work–shift by doing something differently enjoyable. Both are still evident in modern practice and it is clear to see how education is currently at a 'point of intersection between discipline and regulation, between individualising and totalizing' (Ball 2013:65). I would like to share an example from own experiences where such developments were clearly evident. I am currently working in a school that has received 'special measures' status by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). Here is one of those experiences: 'During the winter term, my children were expected to complete yet another set of exams to assess their progress so far. Commonly referred to as assessment week amongst staff, regular subject lessons were abandoned to cater for the conduction of the exams. During the first day, it came to my attention that one of my students was absent and would consequently miss their exams. I approached my key stage leader on the issue and they instructed me to complete the papers with the student when they returned. The week progressed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is important because, through illustrations and the use of language, books also define standards for masculine and feminine behavior (Nanahara 3). Some seek to inform and normalize families with LGBTQ parents while others focus on issues thats children themselves face. My Princess Boy by Cheryl Kilodavis and Jacob's New Dress by Sarah and Ian Hoffman, are both picture books that deal with a young boy who falls outside of the typical gender norms and the reactions of their families and the people around them. The study of trade emerged in the era of mercantilism (approximately in 16th century) as a crude set of arguments about how a nation should trade. The theory of International Trade examines the reasons why different countries exchange their products, but in addition the aftermath that this process has, in the internal economy of a country involved in international trade. Adam Smith, in The Wealth of Nations in 1776, postulated that under free trade, each nation should specialize in producing those goods that it could produce most efficiently. Some of these would be exported to pay for the imports of goods that could be produced more efficiently elsewhere. Smith ridiculed the fear of trade by comparing nations to households. Since every

In the process of playing this game, I acquired the skill to count in numbers, self– discipline, and self–control. Also interacting with other children assisted me to learn good social relationships, and social norms. (Fletcher et.al., as cited in Berk, 2007). Adolescence is moving from childhood to adult. This adolescent year brings many changes, not only physically but also mentally, emotionally and socially (Feldman, 2006). My adolescence was a period in which I gained maturity due to the biological changes associated with puberty. I became independent from my family and developed more perspective since then. I started thinking more about my future goals. I was also trying to understand more of who I was as an adult. In Piaget's cognitive developmental theory young people start to think abstractly and hypothetically in the formal operation stage (Berk, 2007). Therefore, this major cognitive development may have contributed to the exploration or search for my individual identity. With respect to Erikson's eight stages of psychosocial development, the adolescence is the stage of identity versus role confusion. He also believes that identity as the significant personality achievement of adolescence is an essential step toward becoming a productive happy adult (Feldman, 2006). • 77. An Analysis Of The Dominion Board Game Essay An Analysis of the Dominion Board Game Dominion is a deck building game playable by 2–4 players that will take approximately half an hour. Players compete against each other in a multilateral competition where the player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins. The game begins with ten (usually random) piles of resource cards being laid on the playing area/table, along with the treasure, victory and other various cards. Each player is given an initial 10 cards as their starting deck (a.k.a. their 'Dominion') and they each draw 5 cards as their starting hand. They then take turns playing cards from their hands according to the cards instructions, and acquiring new cards from the piles in the middle while trying to improve their dominion. Each turn players draw 5 more cards and once their deck gets depleted they re–shuffle their discarded cards back into it. The game ends after any 3 piles of resource cards have been depleted or when the province victory cards have been depleted. The core gameplay revolves around each player using cards in their hands that they have drawn from their deck to acquire additional resources, sabotage other players or bring the game closer to the end (or a combination of these). The games core mechanic is building (it is a deck–building game after all) since you spend the whole game growing and expanding your deck. Dominion also features emergent gameplay, since although most of Dominions cards have very basic rules (such as 'Draw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is because the singularity of global culture lies precisely in its capacity to recruit and absorb, to domesticate the local repertoires of any country, to indigenize its production by establishing branches and even to bring about a decontextualized 'globalized reconstruction', such as 'world cinema', 'world music' and an international literary style (Garc´a Canclini, 1999). ı Nevertheless, concentration and commercialization bring about other farreaching mutations in the selection of creative products and their consumption. This has attracted little attention, given its transcendent consequences at the threshold of the Digital Age. Hence, the pressures generated by high profit rates have provoked the general use of marketing and promotional tools designed to guarantee maximum returns and profitability. On the launch of new products that are tested on a more and more to ensure their success (Mi` ge, 2000), we can observe the multiplication of strategies of e distribution and intensive promotional spending in order to guarantee the success of blockbusters. American Hegemony in the Twenty–First Century: Consensus and Legitimacy Abstract: Since the end of the Cold War, the United States has been the world's only unquestioned superpower. How the United States evaluates its position as global hegemon has important consequences for American foreign policy, particularly with regards to the potential for future policy constraints. Thus, this paper seeks to consider the question: How durable is American hegemony? It will conclude that in the long–term, East Asian geopolitical instability poses the greatest threat to American hegemony, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But what this means for both the United States and the rest of the world has been highly contentious. The twenty–first century is seen alternatively as the century of the spread of freedom or of the breakdown of global peace. On the one hand, the triumphalist school of international relations has proclaimed the end of history and the triumph of the Western idea as embodied in the American state. On the other hand, the clash of civilizations school has forebodingly predicted a backlash against globalization, a fracturing of the world into civilizational conflict. At the heart of the debate is the question of American primacy. Is the United States' hegemony durable? And is it even a good thing–should we seek to preserve it? Those are the principle questions that this paper seeks to answer. Although the United States is undoubtedly the world's most powerful country, the degree of its dominance, its facets and its limits are all crucial aspects to explore. The topic of American hegemony must be raised again with an eye specifically looking forward towards the future. Delving into this topic not only addresses the crucial debates at the center of the international relations theory, but it also offers important prescriptions for United States foreign policy by accounting for the shadow of the future. The homosexual community came as an impact to the world during the early 1900's. They were considered different; odd, ill, and weak, but little did we know the effects it would have in today's society and politics. The war, queer, and AIDs movements seem to relatively impact members of the gay and lesbian community the most. In an series of interviews in Word is Out conducted by Nancy Adair and Casey Adair, the reader is introduced into the lives of Pam, Rusty, and Pat; lesbian women living within their true identity during the mid–1900's. Their stories consist of broken family relationships, marriage failure, and gender roles. To help one understand the dynamics of their relationships and lives, John D'Emilo talks about the effects of war and how it structures and damages the gay community and their opportunity for equality. Elizabeth Davis speaks about the Lesbian experience in public spaces that exposes many to find their character by associating with those that fit best to their community in Lesbian Bar Culture in the 1930's and 1940's. The LGBT community for centuries has won the spotlight in the news and many articles published in well know newspapers, but what many never get to hear or see are the struggle that many homosexuals face.
